  1. Hey Russ what would happen if while the guys are cleanig with hot water and the burners let's say both hit there temp settings so they are off and then they both wer to kick on the same time if I had. 3000 watt generator. Would the fuse trip?

I have a 3000 watt generator already but what would you suggest to be on the safe side. This generator will only he used for the burners.

If your wired properly nothing. The burner fan and transformer will already be running the only thing that will happen is a small voltage will be needed to open and close the fuel solenoid. The load will already be on the generator so nothing should happen

  2. This year must have been the year for frying turkeys on the patio. We have been booking a lot of jobs to removing cooking oil stains on concrete and pavers. Some we are getting great results and others we are not. We have used degreasers, oven cleaner, and good old Dawn. Surprisingly Dawn have been giving us the best results over all, but some of these stains are extremely stubborn and once the area dries it doesn't look like we did much at all. I was wondering if there is anything that will work better to get these oil stains out.

Depends on the type of oil used. Veg oil and hydroxide will yield you the best results

  3. Tony How many crews do you think it will take to make it worth while? Thats something that Ive been curious about. Whats the magic number 2,3,4?

Through 6 months this year we are averaging 16k a month. Weve done good and made money but it could be better. We live an hour from our service area. Thats 2 hours a day 10 hours a week driving to and from work. Thats a fact that Im facing and its something that Im going to do something about. Being a young company we also spend an outrageous amount advertising. Having said that..... If I had an extra 2 hours to work in the day and good customer base in place I think me and a helper could average 25k a month. I feel like more than that would be tough.

35k is attainable with 2 single man operated rigs per month. Scheduling is your best friend and making sure you have a schedule panned out right will aid in increasing your production rates. Always something to think about is distance between stops and ensuring your not going back to the same parts daily when you can get them all done in one trip. I say this because fuel has gotten very costly for us this year up to about 5k per month just to run the rigs and get them from site to site.

  4. That sounds about right. I'm going to try it tomorrow and use Marco's suggestion of .25 cup per gallon.

Marco, if you're reading this, do the beeds have a shelf-life? This isn't a chemical I would use too often. I'm sure it would take over a year to use the beeds. I think I'll be taking you up on the offer of buying some from you. Thanks.

You will have to pay hazmat shipping costs on this order from Marco, save yourself some time and money and call around locally to find it. Look in the yellow pages at chemical suppliers/distributors and see who you can get it from. Brenntag, Harcros, Ideal, there are several that are possibly in your area

  5. A service company called for a bid on the Walgreens for windows.

Just a little digging and a few pointed questions revealed that *they* were bidding on Walgreens and wanted someone to do the legwork and figure out pricing. They were trying to get ALL maintenance- washing, landscaping, etc.

While were at this this region of Walmart signed a contract that places a maintenance company in charge of everything ourside the building. Washing, striping, parking lots, retention ponds, and so on. It will be in effect soon and one local contractor will have to eat that reclaim unit he purchased and doesn't use for those stores. They will go to a low bidder at cheap rates and no reclaim will be used on Walmart around here anymore

  6. you got that call too I see. Just to inform everyone, there are bids out for Walgreens in the southern region (unsure if its the entire company) but they are looking at going with a service company. I get calls now monthly from a new one and once they inform me of who they are I tell them I don't support their method of cheap prices and payment plans. I don't mind financing my customers for 30 days or 60 if needed on service however I am not going to finance the middle man.

  7. For those who started around 20, was it hard to earn credibility from the homeowners because you are still basically a kid? I will be turning 20 this year and will probably officially get the company launched this summer.

    Thanks, JL

I started @ 24 and have had that problem but IF your on your game and know how to sell your service you will soon prevail. Its even worse dealing with commercial customers

  8. PSI gauge's can be found everywhere even parts stores if you need a quick fix. We get ours from grainger or Parker and they are fairly cheap. Easy to install and the pressure should read up to 250-300 psi and your covered incase of fault. most burners are set to 140-200psi range and if you need more fuel change out to a larger nozzle instead of upping the pressure over 200.
