Resusable or crimp on hose fittings?
John T replied to Econoclean's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Tough call to make. Scott has a big business so he probably goes through so much hose that for his business it's cost effective to fix the damaged hoses. In our case we only employ a few workers. We have a tight "little" business. I have had hoses repaired by my local distributor and I also have the screw on fittings we have used. I've been hit in the head, hand and other body parts from the fixed hoses blowing apart and so have my guys since they now do the physical work. The danger factor for my small company is just not worth it for us to "fix" broken hoses. So what we do now is I stock pile new hoses late in the year for the tax write-offs and we use them during the next year. Safety issues are my biggest concern and us fixing hoses is just not worth the risk. -
Unbelievable products are just that-- Unbelievable.
John T replied to John T's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
What's your thoughts Beth on using a stain product over wet wood? I can say this, because of the VOC's the stain of the major brands suck here now. My company moves further away from Staining projects (We only stained 2 houses this year down from 6 last year) every year. Maybe these products are the future. What's your thoughts? -
Yup-- I wouldn't be surpassed there one in the same. Even under a false name that one Ron Marshall found himself banned for 10 yrs on PWN. That was funny.

Good riddance !!

Small 1700 Sqft PT Deck
John T replied to seymore's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Great work as usual Shane. I like that deck design. The only problem that guy would have is if he saw me hacking away and sending golf balls like missiles towards his house. I wonder of his family hits the deck every time they here the number 4 even if it's on TV? -
Embracing your Industry magazines--eClean and The Cleaner Times
John T posted a question in The Club House
My company has been very fortunate to have had a couple of past cover stories in both eClean magazine http://www.ecleanmag.com/ and The Cleaner Times http://www.cleanertimes.com/. I have the utmost respect for these Industry type magazines who go out of their way to promote us and sometimes tell our stories. I feel blessed to have been able to do 2 volunteer jobs which these magazines thought were news worthy. The first one was the PWNA "Clean Across America job" that consisted of many cleanings across the country such as a Ronald McDonald house and people in need houses that were cleaned. These were done by many different contractors. In my case along with 12 other contractors we decided to give back to our "American" pastime which is baseball. That's how I ended up on the cover Cleaning the roof of the baseball hall of fame stadium http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doubleday_Field The other story that's close to my heart is the Babe Ruth Cleaning that was put on the Cover of eCleans magazine. I am so indebted to Allison Hester who understood the passion I felt. This story is far from over and I hope one day to have Allison Hester finish this story. You just never know when your time comes and these Industry type magazines want you to tell your story so others can benefit from them. Embrace your Industry magazines because they do embrace us. *****My pictures are re-sized but I cant post them here :upset: -
Government Shutdown...who's impacted (besides me???)
John T replied to allisonhester's question in The Club House
That sucks-- From one squid to another Madison will be a great asset to the USN in whatever capacity she's looking to go into. -
Government Shutdown...who's impacted (besides me???)
John T replied to allisonhester's question in The Club House
You would hope this to be true but this one there is a huge problem and both side are to blame. One side won't budge(Democrats) & the other side is holding them hostage over it(Republicans). I could see this lasting a few weeks which will cost us in the end billions if not more. One way or another where going to pay. -
Is that when he was a daytime soap actor..lol

Beth Borrego writer for Cleaner Times Magazine= Excellence!!
John T posted a question in The Club House
I just got done reading in the Cleaner Times Magazine Beth's "Marketing Your Service Business Chapter four: Building your Company's Service Bundles". Besides getting me hungry when she explains how Manufacturers bundle Potato Chips which she correlates that right into how we can bundle our company services into multiple packages--- makes me think back in time with her. Beth is probably going to cringe when I say this because I said it numerous times in the past... She should have been an Industry org president. She could have easily done it and many of us could have benefited from it. This Girl is smart and she knows this Industry and Beth is a leader!! I am probably a pain now for Beth because I am always on the ground floor duking it out with someone to help benefit others But a star always shines and once again Beth shines. Great article!! -
Today is 9-11-13. A day of remembrance to never forget what happened happened 12 yrs ago and to also remember all the brave Fireman, Police officers, other emergency personnel and the civilians who lost their lives that day during the process of saving many others. I was at my favorite bagel place when the first strike of the Twin Towers happened and then at the Dodge dealer to pick up my truck that was being serviced when I saw on their TV the second strike to the Twin Towers here. This images how can we ever forget? We can't. I'm also posting this to the minute the first strike happened. Where were you this day 12 yrs ago when you first heard about the attacks on 9-11-01?

K I'll start. I always believe you have to watch out for some people because you have to dig deep to find what the truth really is....which leads me to my first quote from JP Morgan "A man always has two reasons for doing anything: a good reason and the real reason" K who's next :nevreness:

With the PWRA Convention coming to a close its good to see a bunch of people trying to help each other within this Industry that's not politically motivated. Its not about who's right, who's wrong and who the hate mongers are just to try and drag others down because they have nothing to back up their own claims. No No No... none of that garbage/baggage. Its about helping each other within this Industry and when you deal with nothing but positive things for your business like I do with mine, its all good. Learning/Education/Networking is Key. A newbie or an Oldtimer like myself(52 and 18+yrs owning a Powerwashing business) always can learn something at these Conventions/Events. This is just food for thought towards your business. Stay away from the political posturing and head towards like minded Individuals who want to help each other first and foremost because we are all one when you think about it. Where in this Industry together and the PWRA has just shown from what I'm being told that it was all about helping one another---- And Zero political anything. Great job guys/gals:)
-
So who won that "Grest Bleach debate" that happened just a few years after the turn of the Century?
-
Didn't you invent Powerwashing? Create Roundtables before King Arthur did? Did you know everyone refers to you as a Meglamaniac? Ooops wait that's not you that's....err never mind. It's just a waste of breath.

Lol.. That's great. The last time I drank Moonshine was in the Navy with some of my Southern buddies.... Then 30 yrs later along came Thad and the rest was a blur:)

Today is a great day. Got an email from Jake Clark that he's doing ok with those tremendous fires that are all around his shop. We booked a garage to be cleaned in 2 weeks and my guys are n the process of staining a house(Only 3rd house staining job we did this year--yay). The weather here is absolutely beautiful. On top of all this, it's great to talk to some guys who support one another. We work things thru together. Reflecting on today-- it's a beautiful day. So how has your days been?

I'm getting old.. Change is harder for me to adjust to. Since Beth changed TGS you can see that it's got more advancements in place. My problem is I'm having a hard time getting use to the change. On the brighter side--- The more I come here the more I'm getting use to this. How are you other guys making out with TGS's change?
-
Ok got it. I had something under OTHER highlighted that was causing nothing to show up--Problem solved:)

We just booked another garage for the weekend of Sept 20th. This one is going to be another sludge disaster. If time permits in there I'll snap a few pictures. A job like this I learned from Robert on how to contain sludge and how to seperate it from the wash water so it's easier for disposal compared to how we use to do it. Time is money and Robert saved us hours and hours on these type jobs. Robert is a good guy who believes in helping others. Main reason why he founded Delco bb and multiple organizations within this Industry. The thousands of people you helped out over the years says volumes as to who you are--THANKS ROBERT!!

Big thanks to Robert Hinderliter for helping contractors
John T replied to John T's question in The Club House
Right on Rob!! When your at the top people will always be gunning for ya for whatever reasons and Robert is at the top. Wait to you see the Video Roberts releasing that was taken at our Vegas Event..Robert being so thorough so Contractors can get the feeling that they were there, he had this part filmed with 3 of his cameras set up at different angles. From what I understand he did the same thing at the Houston event a couple of years ago so people can learn from what people like SGT. Walsh had to say. Roberts always been ahead of his time.
