1. If Trayvon's parents were standing in the same room with you, you couldn't say to them that "I am sorry that you lost your son"? That doesn't make you wrong at all. Its just the decent thing to do. I think Zimmerman did what he had to do and it is "Unfortunate" that someone was killed in here. Where is your compassion to his parents? You have kids so you know its killing them. That's the difference between you and I Guy. I could look someone in the eye and tell them I am sorry this ended up this way but I did my job as Zimmerman did his and the Jury agreed with him on that.
2. Boy that was enlightening Rick:) Very well said I might add. You make all very valid points. I guess I am showing my age(Even though I am younger then you..hahaha but maybe not in spirit). Its probably the never ending Human cycle which it looks like you were alluding to above.
3. Yes I am saying some of those things. We get ourselves involved in places we don't belong. I was in Lebanon back in my NAVY days and watched from my ship first hand how these religious fanatics over there were just bombing each other back and forth. You can see it clearly at night. Where exhausting ourselves to the limits and driving the value of our dollar down the toilet and chasing away all of the jobs here because we get taxed to death. America has an enemy that they should look at and try to solve it. Their enemy is themselves which is "We the People". We should try to right the ship here and screw the middle east because it's in there bloodline to combine Religion and politics and that will forever be a deadly mix. Our real problems are right here. As for the Media- there trust levels also went down the toilet. Where talking "political news media". These media outlets have agenda's and it's not to tell the truth. It's to push their messages to the masses. That's not what their job should be. So yes I do hold blame on some of the political reporting media. I am glad I grew up in the era I did and I feel sorry for my girls because today everything is much different and I wouldn't say its for the better either.
4. In was trying to make a point that really can't be made. Your ethnicity can't be changed no matter if your born in America or not. If your born here your nationality is automatically "American". I'm sick & tired of people using race against other people when where all "Americans". There's so much bicchen and complaining about this country that it has came to the point that you can burn the American Flag and it's OK because of the "Freedom of Speech here". Total lunacy. Where a country that is fraying at the edges is what it seems like. Any little thing we have to argue about it. There's so much separation. You go to a foreign country and the people living there tend to talk so highly about their country and over here all we seem to talk about is what's wrong with our country. So in reality I guess I can't make the point I was trying to make because it doesn't make sense. I just wish some people would be more patriotic to their homeland and stop acting like this country is going to invade our freedoms, take away our rights, and on and on and on and on. By far America is the best place to live and maybe people should start looking at that instead of looking for all the negativity all the time. Simply put--- Our Media Sucks!!
5. Rick I got what your saying when you wrote it. Sometimes I look at things like that because to get a more subjective view you have to look at what the other guys story is or in this case was. Some of us are fortunate enough to be born with a silver spoon in their mouths where others are born from an ethnic group that has been trounced on for years. I don't thing we owe anyone anything. I do believe that Mr Zimmerman would indeed apologize to Trayvon's parents if the chance ever comes because no one is happy about killing someone else's child and 17 is pretty much at the last phase of being a child. Saying your sorry just shows you feel bad about something that doesn't necessarily make you wrong. Also saying your sorry doesn't make you wrong. So sometimes you have to dig deep unto the psyche of the other person to see what made them tick. I truly believe that. I got a great thread starter just having this conversation right before I go to sleep just. We just got in from Powerwashing. Never know when these ideas can come out but when they do I just have to put it down on paper....errrr I pad.
6. Does "Owner operated rule"???

I use to advertise myself as "Owner Operated". Some people loved that. Who wouldn't?? Years later I realized money made is more important but I still didn't want to sell my soul and sell garbage to anyone. So my guys are top notch. Better then I was. So what is the goal besides making decent money? Does owner operator really rule when it comes to some work? I'll give a little personal secret of mine. When it comes to what I consider wood restoration which to me is art... I would rather hire "Owner Operator" cause I want the "ARTIST". Besides that what do you guys think?
7. I love my wife of course and my two girls. All 3 of them can easily talk back and give it to me.... sometimes I probably deserve it. Luckily none of them ever yell at me. There not yellers... But these two killers here I take almost everywhere. My two dogs. I leave our pool gate open every day so they can swim. Labs generally love the water. I bring them in my car when I go to get breakfast almost every morning and I take them when I'm out doing estimates. My last set of dogs were two yellow labs. These two chocolates are my last big dogs and I love them to death.. Lets see your animals that just not matter what love you to death:)
8. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2013/07/18/rep-peter-king-considering-run-for-president/ I always admired Congressman and past House leader of Home Land Security Peter King. Him and I crossed a few paths over the years. To this day I still think about how a select woman screwed up something that I was working on to get some more recognition for the Powerwashing Industry especially for Robert Hinderliter who always gave everything his best shot( I never agreed with everything Robert believed in but always admired his passion and will to help others) These pictures I posted in the past was an agreement with Peter King to get Robert Honored and also the Powerwashing Industry noticed. I still keep tabs on a few things and who knows how some things will play out. I know I was offered just a few years ago to work the United Nations bldg in NY city as security when I was considering on retiring from Law Enforcement. Look I always believed in serving people. Plain and simple. Reason why I'm also a contractor. As for the UN building there was a second pension if I served another 20 yrs there but like alot of you guys I just love the Powerwashing Industry and also.... lets be real. My 25 yrs was more then enough for babysitting adults. I just didn't have it in me anymore to deal with that and of course things much worse then that. So my hats off to Peter King who if I was a betting man the favorite to beat in 2016 will be Hillary Clinton(I also worked a detail for her in the past.... excuse me if I puke..lol) As for the shirt I was wearing in this picture, One of the Powerwashing Industry's many good guys, Rob Huffman bought that shirt for me when him and I did a Parking garage together years ago. Rob is a rock solid good guy who is the kind of person I gravitate to who would give you the shirt off of his back it you needed help with something. Stick with the winners in life and tell your kids the same. Reason why I support Guys like Rob and many many more who put themselves out there to do..... The right thing and they do it well.
9. Peter King just go an invite to go to New Hampshire. You just never know. His integrity is intact. http://www.newsday.com/news/nation/rep-peter-king-heading-to-new-hampshire-for-gop-talks-1.5746242
10. Allison thank your for sharing that. Deep down inside I was hoping you would add a little more time even though you lost the post(That really sucks). This week If I can remember I'll take a picture of when I was on the cover of the Post here in 88-89. I happened to be probably at the right place at the right time and didn't do anything different then anyone else would do. I had a direct run in with Al Sharpton previously and this one lucky night I happened to be there when Al Sharpton along with his two other cronies all got locked up in one shot. The one I use to know was Roy Innis http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Innis who is of African American back round and was a big dude and a sweet guy in a nice way man. Nelson Mandela would have imbraced him if they haven't done so already. The Al Sharptons of the world Spew hate and they get away with it. Where is the equality? Al talks a mean game and is once again very charismatic. He can control a room in any conversation.... but like Roy Innis wanted to do to him on an Old "Morton Downey" show and flipped Al Sharpton right over on his chair in a heated discussion..... What I believe is every now and then maybe some people could use a reality check and give them a good beating when there hurting others.(Again old world thinking and politically incorrect). What I liked was that American kid who got cained in Singapore back when, when he decided it was funny to gouge scratch marks into people's cars. Fear is a learning tool and to be perfectly honest and you know me as to not be to religious but the one thing I love about religion is this--it puts the fear of God into people to do the right thing to others or else. That's the one thing I can honestly admit that I do love about religion. It keeps people on the straight an arrow----hopefully.
11. For better or worse everything changes. It always does. Amendments get amended(Probably wrong term--didn't major in English) attached to them. Our forefathers basically supported slavery even though a few of our forefathers were off the charts amazing. Heck Homosexual marriage is legal here in NY now. My religion says its wrong and even though I get repulsed by it my daughter has gay guy friends at our house all the time(She's big time into theatre). So sometimes you have to think.. who are we to not let someone be happy if its not hurting anyone else? Politics is complicated and truth be told--- there never is an absolute answer-- IMO.
12. Man do I hate when that happens! Sometimes in the heat of the moment I try to type out everything I just lost when that happens. Generally though I just say #%*^ and move on. On this unfortunate incident since the race card was not brought up in court it should not be brought up as having any type of factor because it wasn't. People just want to blame something when there really was nothing according to what our laws are. Just think if Zimmerman was an actual Police officer and this happened. This whole thing would have been turned into big time Police Brutality. There's no winning this IMO... And sadly to say I'm betting Zimmerman feels terrible how that night ended up and there is no way to console Trayvon Martins parents who's son is dead. Tragic story for sure but I do believe the jury got it right and I hope where not going to have to pay with our tax dollars if the Feds now decide to charge Zimmerman. This case should be closed.
13. He's off the charts great here. His elections by far are always won by major landslides here even in the democratic area's. Peter is such a great guy he boxed a 32 yr old guy here a few months ago for charity who was a 1/3rd his age. The ethics committee in DC went nuts because they said Peter King was showing favoritism doing that. Totally ridiculous political garbage. Also Peter King gave it to the house speaker John Boehner which caused them to ASAP get 50 billion dollars of relief money here for the mass destruction hurricane Sandy brought to 1000's of people here. I can go on.. But your right. Peter King won't win a national election even though his career has been nothing short of spectacular. He's no spring chicken anymore either @ 69 but don't tell him that... He's liable to knock you out..lol
14. Crud I spelled the title of this thread wrong and no longer have the ability to fix the title. It's supposed to read Distributors-- darn I-pad. Yea I didn't spell that wrong because I can't spell--- yea it's the I-pads fault:)
15. Great pet stories. Where out here now powerwashing this village walkways & I read these post wishing my dogs were hanging out with me in my truck. Mans & ladies best friends for sure. Do we have any cat or reptile lovers here? Lets here about them as well. I'm not one to put a snake around my neck but I sure get a kick out watching how some others just love doing that with their snake pets--Yikes.
16. Glad it worked out for ya Joel:) Its reasons like this which makes www.thegrimescene.com such a great place to learn and interact with other powerwashers. I learned a ton here myself.
17. Pugs will probably be the last dogs I'll own. I love those little snoring animals.
18. This is a personal question. I'm staining my front porch Armstrong Clarke Amber stain. That is one beautiful stain. The problem is my back deck yrs ago I made the big mistake of staining it a solid color because my dogs were killing it. Big big mistake. I have my daughters graduation party next weekend and we powerwashed all the lose stain off my deck 2 weeks ago. I have to get it stained solid for the party next week and this heat is relentless and we all know solid dries fast as heck. I'm going to try and stain it tomorrow because There really is no more time for me to wait. Anyone stain a solid color in this heat and did it come out OK?
19. Also who ever owns a gun/guns, for yours and your family's safety I hope you keep them locked up by the very least with a trigger lock on it and on up. Most killings by far in this country involves loved ones either killing themselves or each other. The easiest way is for them to find an unlocked gun and shoot themselves or their friend... This happens to kids way to often alone.
20. I have to say two things concerning Zimmerman & Martin. First it was not a case on racism. The media tried to make it that and at least so far the courts have not. Zimmerman is also part Hispanic in case anyone is wondering. Zimmerman IMO was in his right to find out what Trayvon was up to. He was the neighborhood watch for the night if I understood that correctly. Suddenly this thing breaks out into some type of fight. Why that was only Zimmerman really knows and the Jury can only convict him beyond a reasonable doubt and they surely didn't háve that. That is the law. I don't think for one second Mr. Zimmerman was trying to kill Mr. Martin. He shot him in self defense to "Stop" him. That's what we were taught. If you shoot, you shoot to stop. If you think about it and Zimmerman really wanted to kill him then all he had to do was unload his gun into Trayvons head & he didn't(that's like an execution killing) The other problem in here is and I truly believe this is what President Obama came out and said. There is no more political figure in this country then the president and his words can influence millions. He made this very political. What I found most disturbing of what our President said was that after the verdict, a couple of days later he said he could have been Trayvon Martin and could have been killed himself. Really? So the president would've escalated a neighborhood watch personal to the point of an all out fight that could've caused him to be shot? Common!! That's not a fair point to say unless the president was a bad guy who went out at night looking for trouble back then... Him saying that just causes more unrest.... And believe it or not millions of Americans listen to exactly what the President says when he speaks.. I know I do and that was a disappointed and inappropriate thing to say that can most definitely influence politically what could happen next to Mr. Zimmerman.
21. Well to be more specific it's not exactly that safe. There are no batteries. Picture a metal box. It has a hand indentation on it. Mine has a right hand indentation on it. In the dark for example all I have to do is put my hand on it and push my fingers down in a certain order that only I know and the safe door swings open. I could keep this under my bed and just reach down and move a couple of fingers and pop out my guns. This safe holds 3 guns and around 200 rounds. It's safe as heck and easy for me to open in a heartbeat.
22. You have water in the tank and the water line is hooked straight to the pump(make sure you have a filter between pump & tank). I would just start the pressure washer and squeeze the gun or open the ball valve and let the water completely run thru the system. Also make sure you have the pump setup for bypass back into the tank so that can protect your pump from over heating while the Powerwasher is running and the gun is not squeezed. You always want water running thru the pump at all times when the PW is running. If you have everything hooked up like above and there is no air leak in the hoses or fittings then everything should run fine.
23. What heart warming stories. Hardest jobs I ever had to deal with in law enforcement besides anything to do with injured kids was dealing with injured animals... Especially dogs. They yelp and cry just like people do when their badly injured. I do love animals and even went into a burning house to get this ladies dogs out. Also got one of my yellow labs from a house fire when this lady had all these puppies running around. Let's see some more animals you guys/gals out there have. They just have a way of making people smile:)
24. Hey Joel--You said you know the water is running to the pump if I read that correctly. Let it run for a few seconds and you will see or at least should see water with air shooting out of the hose then soon all water. The pump will be primed at that moment. Gravity fed this should work every time and if its a belt driven setup it should have the ability to pull the water up as well.
25. That's my plan but I'm so concerned how hot the wood is even in the shade that the solid stain is going to dry to fast. I guess as long as it looks good for next weeks party is going to have to suffice. For any woodies out there, solid stain is OK for verticals but the horizontal surfaces they bite. You also loose the beauty of the wood grain and that's what I miss the most with my deck-- darn dogs:) like it's their fault..lol
