Hey Kris... Hint/Tip-- us older more seasoned guys, take the above and run with it. Don't debate it or argue with it.. Do better then we did.. Move ahead and take the lessons learned and you will move along at lightening speed. Your doing well already:)

Don't care to know who Guy may be referring to here but my attitude is similar to what Guys posting like I am on the other Powerwashing boards I go to. The drama is out. As for the Drama Queens there in their own area on the net as it should be:)

Thanks Jimbo.. Yes your right on... You want the answer I'll give it to ya straight. Consistency has always been my thing. Some people may find this odd even when I was in law enforcement, I have no real enemies. From a hardcore criminal to a Mother Type person, I always found that if your going to say something people want the truth. So the one thing I have never been accused of by anyone that matters is having a lack of Integrity. Looking forward to working with ya again for the 2014 Parking Garage Event.

Thanks Tracy that means alot to me and your right. Working with you guys and really having similar likeminded goals and actually completing them or at least giving it the best effort I can is in my blood. Your past employer use to say I bleed purple in my org days. It's really about helping each other and it doesn't necessarily have to be org related.. I Know I'll cya around somewhere in the future-- I think we need to rematch each other in pool:)

Enjoy Kris... You'll meet some cool people on the inside. If you take a liking to the mod area's it's almost a precursor to going the next step by doing things together with likewise contractors. Some of us went from Mods to Board of Directors in the same time frame such as Beth, Mike Hughes and myself. A bunch of us held our own Roundtables and helped others do theirs as well.. If you like the group thing and your inspired enough your going to meet some very awesome people.. Who knows.. You may be the first Forum mod here who gets to infract me(You'll learn about that system as well) Thankfully I only had to infract 3 people and ban 2 of them in 10yrs here and on all the other bb's I did combined. If you have any question always feel free to hit me up on a PM or email.

Hey Zap-- no I never forgot what it's like to be a newbie. I owe alot to people I met in this Industry. The rig setup I showed here was from a guy who was the first one to make fun of guys working out of their family vans when they started out.. There's to much history to delve into this but that person is getting what he gives which is Zero respect from many.. Also the one thing I never was, was a lowballing hack... I think you know what I'm talking about. We were all newbies but I'm sure we took pride in our work we did for others as most people I know has done and still do today. Hackers we weren't then or today. I also do reflect back and I am still very thankful today to the many who helped me along here such as not only Beth/Rod with wood restoration, but from some of the very first Mods and members on TGS such As David Olson (since passed away),Michael Hinderliter, Michael Hughes(working for a much larger company today in a different field), Tony Szabo just to name a few. These people never got there heads to big no matter how successful they were and they also stayed honest to the core and always helpful to myself and many others. Another words they weren't users. I realize how lucky I was to meet these people and many others.. So no I never forget..

My Credibility has never been on the net. It's the things I do with these good honest hard working contractors on the outside as far as this Industry is concerned is where my passions are. I've never been and Internet cowboy because I always back up what I say and people who know me.... Know that. In the big picture of things that's what counts. Hey Kris on a more real thing.. You missed a fun time at the Vegas Event Bro.. That's probably at least the 30th Contractor event I've gone to. Some I helped out with like this one but most I go because I enjoy and support The Contractors in this Industry... That's real.. Hope to meet ya one day somewhere down the road at.... Another Event:)

Lol.. Enjoy:)

Where's the personal attack posting a rig like that?
-
Ok Shane. There is Zero love lost on why I posted and what these few are doing is an embarrassment to the hard working guys in this Industry. I am not mentioning names even though many others are getting clocked by these very few people. If these guys want to preach something to the newbies maybe they should practice what they preach and also leave the good people out such as the owners of this site.. As you can see I do not play up to the politics so people can hoodwink others. I generally leave these people and let them sink or swim on there own merits..... But if these people are attacking good people for their own self gain it Was reasons like this I became a union president back a few yrs ago to knock this people straight back down to earth.. This is subtle because most don't know who they are and there lucky I don't name them. I think I give TGS what I can.. But it's not in me to act like these people aren't doing what there doing to hurt others and with that there going to in a very subtle way until they stop attacking good people, will continuously get zero respect from people who care about others. Personally I do not think this thread is bad at all. It's a learning thread for the newbies and seasoned vets to see what's out there.. and this is a classic example of what a lowballing hack look like. No different then a guy driving around with a wood paneled station wagon to do jobs... But at least those people aren't professing to be Industry leaders...

RESTORE by Rustoleum - Removal
John T replied to Greg R's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Unless the money is to good to pass up I would Run from a job like that. At least it looks to be only a surface type job which is bad enough. If there are spindles & rails with that garbage I would be long gone. -

Classic is right! Ralph Machio lives in my old town now and living a normal life.. His early movies were great flicks.. Hopefully I run into him one of these days:) -

Hey John I know your question is directed towards Charlie.. I love to hear how he handles this. He is in my mind an Artist when it comes to staining people's decks. We on the other hand spray everything we can especially spindles, rails etc. We back brush to stop the drips and the over spray. Spraying in itself is an art. Everything gets hit where a brush may not get to... But Charlie is an Expert and he is truly an Artist. Sometimes I look at the money aspect of the job.. But still I would say my guys are not in Charlie's league.. -
Pete Marentay has meant alot to many people in this Industry. I served on the Board of the PWNA with Pete's old partner Chris Detter who was the outgoing PWNA president at that time. Chris Detter recommended me to run for a position then and I know Pete had something to do with that as well. I served with Pete while he was on the PWNA board of Directors and Pete really cared about the contractors in this Industry. I remember Pete telling me that him and I blead PWNA purple(The color of the PWNA back then). Pete has towed the line and took the risk that many would not take. He really cared to help contractors and he did what many wouldn't do. Pete got involved and he did make a difference!! Today we own 2 decksters that we bought from Sunbrite Supply and before I met Pete I was all about pump up sprayers. I'll take a picture of these sprayers this week if I Remember. There beaten to death but they still produce. They probably made me a few Hundred Thousand over the years because we spray everything and I had both those sprayers now for at least 7 yrs. There was no way I could ever thank Pete and Sunbrite Supply enough but I did get lucky and I was able to give Pete something back to him and his staff for all they've done for many. He was given a Babe Ruth Plaque because..... Pete made a difference..He really for many many Contractors in the Powerwashing Industry!! Thanks Pete for making that difference because it did really matter:)

Mechanic makes more work for me
John T replied to john@AEC's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Looks great John and if the customer is happy that's what counts. As for the hydrofluoric acid there's no job that's important enough for me to use that nasty stuff on. Hydrofluoric burns from the inside out from what I was told so you could get it on your skin and not even know it's attacking you yet before it starts burning you up. At that point your pretty much screwed. Besides that I hear Hydrofluoric acid is great to use but to me it's not worth the "Danger" factor. -

I know you don't do houses but what about a stockade fence? Do you spray anything or is it all hand stained? -
Pete Marentay from Sunbrite Supply is retiring.
John T replied to John T's question in The Club House
We'll wait for Pete to announce what he's up to. Pete came from a background where if I remember correctly he was putting in one Pizza Franchise in after another. He was awarded for it to. I just can't remember which company he worked for back then. I'm thinking it was Dominoes but I could be wrong on that. Hopefully Pete will come on here and also tell some about his past. He was always pretty successful at what he put his mind to. Just a very committed person in whatever he set out to do. -

Reschedule if you have enough work lined up. Time is money and those windy day s can also spell trouble. -
Stripping a house and Shirts by Clark Hussey
John T replied to John T's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
My good knee has just been confirmed as now my worse off knee. Doc says I have a humungous tear in the meniscus which she said was a grade 4. Didnt even know there was that grade.. So far cortisone shot worked great but I'm pretty much screwed-- to many years of abuse. What happens when you loved doing something to long.. Those shirts are excellent and very light. Great against stains and perfect for when this cold weather changes here soon. -

The other house where doing next week is Cedar Planks that came out much nicer. I wish I took some before pics because the house was black and so was the deck. This house should look good when done. If I get there in time I'll take some pics. The day the guys are doing that I'll be out of state looking at a college Building to be powerwashed that's probably out of my league but it's definitely worth a shot. You lucky Shane cause you know what you like best... I'm scattered but do love a challenge:) -

John T replied to John T's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
That deck is getting Ripped out. Thank God it was there because it's a tough stretch to put a ladder up on 3 floors that are not on level ground.. It looked like a semi solid stain was on it. The homeowner just bought this house and it's a mess but he's dumping in a ton of money on fixing it up.. The homeowner had received from us a few different stain products to consider with Armstrong Clark our recommendation. The problem here is we never used Armstrong Clark Stain yet but we have used many others that now suck because of the VOC's. So this house is up in the air to what stain will be used. -

OK I put this post on PWC and PWR as well. These pictures the house was still drying so it will lighten up completely. Where also staining this house as well as the other house this week we did. One of these houses where going to use Armstrong Clark Amber stain which I'll take pictures of this Tuesday. This house The home Owner hadn't decided yet on what to stain it with.. I'm pushing for the Armstrong Clark Amber as well but as usual he's being picky.... will see. -
Today Kathy got a call for us to give a price to power wash stencils in 50+ locations. It looks like easy money. To do this you have to be able to carry water since there all stop and go locations..The Stencils are each 16sq' If I get the job and we do it I'll make sure I Post some pics on TGS. Has anyone else got a call like this?
