  1. Lol... I seen that on Facebook...the site that's taken over the world.
  2. Winter woodie blues

Great bands Rick and I was fortunate enough to see both. The Ramones I seen at the old Ritz in NY city where a young Matt Dillon (right after the Movie the Outsiders came out) was in attendance. Huge fan of both. I also seen the Talking Heads around 1981. Man time flies and I sure did have fun yesteryear :)
  3. Winter

Plenty of good booze and Netflix to bing watch with.
  4. The PWNA bulletin board got a new makeover and some of the kinks have also been worked out. Check it out http://www.pwnaforum.org/forum.php and let me know what you think.
  5. shop-vac

Hey Allan--how ya doing? Still Powerwashing after all these years? Good to see you here :)
  6. I just got my 10% discount from Sunbelt on another Tennant scrubber where renting for Tomorrow's garage. We rent these scrubbers and lifts from Sunbelt around 10x yr. Sunbelt wasn't aware of this discount yet so I explained to them that corporate went to the PWNA Convention and said PWNA members get a discount. They immediately gave me a 10% discount but they wanted some proof that I was a member. I brought my old PWNA BOD card but it dawn on me that I could show I was a PWNA member thru the PWNA website www.PWNA.org Either way I saved $60 here. My typical year I would save around $1000 from Sunbelt with my PWNA discount.
  7. lol... I know you just couldn't resist..lol
  8. Its going to be a work in progress but I will give it my best shot along with the PWNA bulletin board staff to make this another area for Powerwashing Contractors and Distributors to interact. I have to say that I did learn a lot from the best starting with Beth Boreggo and TGS :)
  9. Usually around 40-45 degrees is our cutoff for residential washes. Wood restoration is at least 50 degrees. Commercial washing we'll go down to just above freezing and in that case we have to know how much later the freezing temps will come so we don't leave a place like a skating rink. So what's your cold cutoff temps?
  10. RIP Ted Watson

  15. PWNA Board of Director Matt Pierce on the news about the Window washers who were dangling 68 stories up from the Freedom Tower in NY that was built to replace the Twin Towers that came down during 9-11. http://www.wcvb.com/news/window-washers-rescued-70stories-above-the-ground/29690534 Great Job Matt in giving the Industry some positive representation during a moment of crisis!
  16. I did an estimate on a roof Saturday that is loaded with Black Algae stains. It's a large roof but in the warm weather it's a very easy clean. Since the cold weather is upon us she should wait until spring for us to clean this but here is the dilemma -- She is putting the house up for sale Dec 1 so she needs this roof cleaned ASAP. She also said she would sweeten the pot by an additional $500 for us to do this. So here's my thinking-- At job site I can mix my roof mixture with hot water to make it warm at least. Then before applying we can rinse roof with hot water to bring up the surface temp of the asphalt shingles. Then from there saturate the roof with our cleaning mixture. Do a few warm coats of our cleaning mixture at maybe 20 minutes apart. None of this would be done if temp is under 40 for the day. So do you guys think this would work ok? Also keep in mind there is most likely no spring option for this lady because her house is going on the market next month.
  17. Do you plan on heading south in your "Golden years" which of course are quite a few years away yet. Thats what I plan on doing.
  18. Yes--she's scheduled for that Monday.
  19. Here's mine....... I HATE IT!!!
  20. Your biggest gripe about the cold weather?

Is "Mother Powerwasher" mad at "Mother Nature"....lol
  21. Your biggest gripe about the cold weather?

Winter was my favorite month growing up. I was big into winter sports such as Ice Hockey. I always loved the change of seasons and I'm glad my kids got to experience the same things I did. Getting on in the years my body aches when it gets cold. I also feel the cold so much more... If all goes well my goal is to be a snowbird with a house in Florida and one here in NY.. Just like my parents do.
  22. Yes I think most customers are under the impression that when it cools down so does the Powerwashing. This is primarily in Residential. Commercial on the other hand can go right through the winter as long as it's not freezing out when your doing outside Powerwashing. As for Maketing we pay someone monthly to work on the SEO on our site so that never changes. We also continuously cold call and send out postcards/brochures etc to potential commercial customers thru out the year.I guess to answer your question we don't change our marketing except maybe try something different every now and then.
  23. I was asked to speak at CETA & ISSA convention!

  25. The PWNA is having it's 23rd annual convention coming up Nov 1st http://pwna.org/convention/ They're offering excellent classes to help Contractors in their field of choice. Anywhere from Garage cleaning all the way over to wood restoration. You can also get a certification for some of these classes that is backed by the Industry's longest running organization which is the PWNA. Another great session is the "Millionaires Panel" open room discussion. Some of the people on this panel gross between $4,000,000-$18,000,000/yr. That's right those numbers are in the MILLIONS! You can network with these guys as well as any and all of the other guys at this Convention. Also the Trade Floor will have some of the most successful and well known Vendors in the Power Washing Industry. So book your flights today because you can get some great deals on them now. Looking forward to seeing you guys at this Event :)
