How cold before you stop residential & commercial washing?
John T replied to John T's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Yes I think most customers are under the impression that when it cools down so does the Powerwashing. This is primarily in Residential. Commercial on the other hand can go right through the winter as long as it's not freezing out when your doing outside Powerwashing. As for Maketing we pay someone monthly to work on the SEO on our site so that never changes. We also continuously cold call and send out postcards/brochures etc to potential commercial customers thru out the year.I guess to answer your question we don't change our marketing except maybe try something different every now and then. -

The PWNA is having it's 23rd annual convention coming up Nov 1st http://pwna.org/convention/ They're offering excellent classes to help Contractors in their field of choice. Anywhere from Garage cleaning all the way over to wood restoration. You can also get a certification for some of these classes that is backed by the Industry's longest running organization which is the PWNA. Another great session is the "Millionaires Panel" open room discussion. Some of the people on this panel gross between $4,000,000-$18,000,000/yr. That's right those numbers are in the MILLIONS! You can network with these guys as well as any and all of the other guys at this Convention. Also the Trade Floor will have some of the most successful and well known Vendors in the Power Washing Industry. So book your flights today because you can get some great deals on them now. Looking forward to seeing you guys at this Event :)

Next week we only have 3 house washes to do. We are doing some parking garages the end of next week and a couple of weekends after that(they can only be done on the weekends). There's some sporadic commercial work such as shopping centers we have scheduled but where starting to slow down now. So what's your up coming plans look like with your business?

Old man winter is around the corner! What's your plans?
John T replied to John T's question in The Club House
Great advice Beth!! How do you plan on doing that? -
The rule of thumb for what gpm rating would be maxed for surface machine size it's 1gpm/4". So in your case 5gpm I wouldn't go larger then a 20"surface machine so your 19" surface machine will be fine.

u.s forestry coatings ??
John T replied to steven's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Theoretically if all coats absorb into the wood you should be good....but.....after around 2 coats, the next coat will most likely lay on the previous coat and not penetrate the wood.. That coat will most likely peel down the road. -

John T replied to steven's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Hey Steven-- you have to be careful with coat on coat when it comes to stains everything under a solid(sometimes solids as well). Not all stains are the same. Some say one coat, some say 2 coats and others say to do a coat over the other coat before it dries. Over applying stain can cause a problem down the road because stain basically is made to be absorbed by the wood. If you do to many coats then yes it will look good initially but eventually the top layer of coats very well may start to peel off because they never absorbed into the wood. Sometimes applying a very liberal coat can cause shining in some areas where the stain didn't soak into the wood. Personally I think staining is the most rewarding of all work in the Power Washing Industry and I consider you guys that do it well like artist. Staining is also the trickiest and if not done right or other bad factors come in such as a downpour in the middle of a job can cause serious headaches. I know this because I had so e rewarding experiences and also headaches at times in the past when it came to me staining. -

My 2 rock steadies has been my 15yrs with both the PWNA and JW insurance which is why I am wearing their hat and shirt in the pics. Hope to see some of you guys there :) -

John T replied to John T's topic in Business Topics & Tips
Yup I heard that because it became to pricey. We don't do hoods but it seems like you guys get an unfair shake from Insurance companies when it comes to this type of cleaning. -
Hey Adrian- so sorry to hear about your loss brother. IF there's anything we can do please let us know. Where all getting a little older and hopefully getting a little wiser. On my end sometimes I wonder why I even give a craapp about this Industry because its so frustrating. Hopefully next year is better for us all and I hope you feel better yourself ;)
