  1. Educational Seminar

Paul, Hows the attendance looking for this class and what is the Hotel of choice to stay at for the ones attending? Also what is the nearest airport?
  2. $50,000 Start up for a new Org./Business plan

Money to burn..I wish:) Just spewing idea's. Forever rattling my brain to come up with that all allusive answer as to what can really work. I am searching and searching. One day maybe I'll figure it out. I do know one thing whatever it is its going to take some decent amount of start up capital...or..maybe its just something that I can get another org. to take up. You came up with that great class Powerwashing 101 with the PWNA..That was a class act. I would like to come up with something that can make an organization grow..or just come up with something all together new and cutting edge....Retiring soon.
  3. Alot of organizations do not subscribe to open discussions about them on the net. If you are a believer of Organizations that represent this industry what's your stance on this. I'll post a pole and besides checking off which one you would prefer to go with on the poll, how about elaborating why you picked what you did.. I'll start. I am a believer in having an organization that has a bulletin board for members and non members. I would like to see part of that board closed off to members only so they can possibly enjoy some more benefits then non members from the bulletin board but I would also like to see a big part of the board open to non members also. This way non members can ask some questions that they may have that can be answered by many other members instead of just a couple of voices from the main offices. I know when I first joined the PWNA I was also curious as to what other PWNA members thought about there membership and I wanted to get these answers online. When I felt I needed more then that then I would make some phone calls. I will say this. A bulletin board like this would have to be heavily moderated to keep it as professional as possible. Anybody that has disagreements about the org should be heard but No mud slinging at all would be tolerated and a post that gets that way would have to be removed immiedetely. Yes this can be time consuming but it does offer another platform of mass communication and it also gives another avenue for the organization to grow. Anybody else??
  4. Organizations and the bulletin boards

Matt I respect your opinion and I can see you points making alot of sense but I am a numbers man and when I look at the numbers they can sway me to make certain decisions. When I see the pole up above that a huge percentage would like an organization to have an active bb that is partially open to non members then that tells me this is what most people want and at the end of the day decisions should be based on "What the People want" most of the time. This is why I always believed in keeping a board linked in with an Organization and the people I talked to mostly agreed with me...except the ones that had the leadership roles. To me the guy at the lowest part of the rope all the way up to the guy at the highest end of the rope them and everyone in between should have a fair say on what an organization does and wants. This has and still remains my belief that an org. should accomodate what the people want. In an open forum with many people in the room I think I could win this debate...almost all the time. In a close room with 10 leaders and 7 siding with what the leader wants then there is no way to beat that. An Organization is there for the people...FIRST!! Especially its members and also to non members who might one day decide to join the org. because of all the info they were able to access thru an active Org. bb and also thru them interacting with other Members of that org.
  5. Personally I think that Home owner should just let that stain stay on and redo the job when the deck needs it mainly because Mahogany decks and IPE decks never last that long with the stain looking good...But then again its good to have money like these people obviously do to have you redo it.
  6. Some how I get the feeling that Mat Bryant put the fear in this guy. I wouldn't want to be on the wrong side of the fence with Mat and his computer genius picture stuff that he is capable of doing. He can turn anyone of us into half man and half Donkey in a matter of minutes...
  7. In case anyone here hasn't bought a vehicle on Ebay for $99 this is what the inspection looks like for this truck that I just bought there. This is around the 7th vehicle that I bought on Ebay so far and all of them were good deals. That shaky front end was fixed by the owner. ConditionReport
  8. Ebay inspection for Truck I purchased

I'd like to put a 900-1000 gallon water tank on this along with my hot water powerwasher and other accessories. When I get this truck home I'm going to take it to a weigh station to figure out exactly how much weight I can put on this truck. Can't wait to start this project but it may be months before I can even attempt this due to the time of year it is in the Northeast for Powerwashing. Still I couldn;t pass up this deal...and I need write offs anyway this year:lgmoneyey
  9. Hmmmmm I wonder who that could be... It wouldn't be to hard to figure it out. Hopefully that person does the right thing and fixes his wrong. Ethically without even discussing legally its wrong to take someone's pictures without there consent.
  10. Ouch !!

Man that bites and figures its right in the begining of the season. More importantly that you get your health back to normal. Money isn't everything..
  11. Organizations and the bulletin boards

Do not use any Organizations as examples. Lets be Generic and go by the thought process of "If there was an org. that represents the industry" then go from there. Keep it fresh as if there where no orgs ever in existence yet....This way this poll could be brainstorming fun with absolutely no finger pointing. As if this....was the beginning.
  12. I just have to show off.....

Navy guy here but the USAF was right there for my choices of which Branch of Service to join. Besides seeing the world the other factor as to why I picked the Navy was because I heard they served the best food out of the 4 main branches....shows you where my mind was at back then...as it is today..Show me the FOOD.
  13. Ok you got me stumped...How about some multiple choices?? My first guess would be "Tin Man" I think it was called starring Danny Devito and Richard Dryfess.
  14. I just have to show off.....

Good to see some of the younger generation supporting our country. USAF is a great branch of service to be in. I tip my hat to your daughter..
  15. FlatBed Aluminum vs. Steel

My guess is that an Aluminum Flatbed is better then a steel Flatbed. Its much lighter, less corrosive and almost as strong as a steel Flatbed. Which one do you think would be the preferred Flatbed??
  16. For probably at least 5 yrs I only used a Citralic acid to neutralize/Brightened decks but for around the last 3 yrs I only been using Oxalic for this because it seems to make the wood brighter because of the stronger strength of the acid. Oxalic is a more dangerous acid to use but I always make sure I'm covered good and I wear my respirator. Oxalic is also cheaper for me to purchase where a 55lb bag cost me about a dollar a pound. My thinking is since the Oxalic is a more caustic chemical then Citralic it probably penetrates deeper into the wood which may cause the stain to soak in a hair more in the IPE wood which might mean that you get a little more time before the deck turns grey. Either way Mahogany and IPE decks that are exposed to sun here never get two years of looking good with a sealer on them.
  17. Round Tables Pull Record Numbers

The Maryland Roundtable is just around the corner. Can't make this one but I can't wait to hear about it.
  18. Happy B-Day Ken..P/Pros

Happy Birthday Ken you old Geezer. Now that you have alot of bulletin board clout get Jim Foley to sell some of his wine to us bbers so we can all be merry and happy....and Zonked:club:
  19. Round Tables Pull Record Numbers

How far these roundtables have grown. Celeste had over a 100 at hers and Tom and Barbara from ACR continuously pull in around 70-80 people. The one thing I miss....is Everett Abrams posting on the bb's but I respect his opinions and understand his reasoning behind it.
  20. The Dice Man!

Sunday night 10pm eastern time on VH1. I'm not sure but the last two shows might have been this past Sunday but I could be wrong about that. On Easter my two favorite shows start up which are the Soprano's and right after that Entourage. Man I love Sunday nights. I also watch those hot broads on Desperate House wives which is also on Sunday night. As for the rest of the week except for a little American Idol with my girls I don't watch any other shows....but I do love those Sunday nite ones. Nothing like a nice hot bag of Popcorn from the Micro-wave and up to bed to watch these shows with my wife next to me and the kids in bed sleeping.....Now thats living aahhhhhhhh
  21. New member

Hello and welcome to the TGS site. Fire away with any questions you may have or any points that you want to make. Also the search button up top is a great starting point to find some info that you may be looking for.
  22. The Dice Man!

Dice is still great when he goes back to his old self. I seen him at the Garden in 2000 hosted by Opie and Anthony. I sat in about row 7 right by the stage then afterwords I went to a bar in Harlem to watch my Mets lose game 5 to the hated Yankees in the world series. What a night that was..oh yea I started that night with a steak at "Sparks Steackhosue" in Manhattan. I also seen Dice when he was up and coming at Govenors comedy house here on LI.. His Reality show Is OK but Dice is a winer just like Jerry Seinfeld can be...Sometimes that gets on my nerves...but still love the Diceman.
  23. --I go to the roundtables to meet people in this industry and to catch up on some of the friendships and put faces on some of the people I've met thru the Powerwashing bulletin boards. I've learned a ton from these people and also from some of the speakers at these roundtables. The first paid class I've taken at a roundtable was a Pump class by Tom Vogle from ACR Products which was definitely worth the money spent.--What I got out of the roundtables is many things. One being forging stronger bonds amongst the friends I've seen in the past and the new ones made at these roundtables. I've learned from just listening to some contractors on how they do there business and what has and has not worked for them(Priceless). I've also got potential leads and some nice paying jobs from networking with people at these roundtables. --I plan on attending many more roundtables in the future. Besides what I mentioned above, when I leave these roundtable I'm more pumped then ever to make some more $$$$$$$$!!
  24. Freedom in America

Rick that is awesome.!! My Brother in-law also went to that legendary Woodstock concert and my Father In-Law went to whats considered the greatest Game in NFL history I think in 56 where the Colts with Johnny Unitis beat the Giants in OT for the NFL Championship. Supposedly that game put the NFL on the map...even though I say the greatest game ever was one of my Hero's Joe Willy Nameth of the Jets predicting and then beating the 19pt favorites the Colts in the 69 Superbowl.
  25. Here we go again.....

Hey Celeste, Isn't it just cheaper and easier to have your dogs fixed?? My kids would want to keep all the puppies and then they would be mad at me if I was to get rid of them. We use to have a Yellow male and a Yellow Female of the same age and different breeders(One was given to me which is why we had the two dogs). I wanted to breed them at first but my wife told me that she and my daughter(Only had one daughter at the time) would not want to part with any of the puppies.....so I had them fixed. My wife just told me now that she could never give up the puppies...Hence every dog we ever have will have to be fixed... As for dogs we've been looking at the Tibetan Mastiffs American Tibetan Mastiff Association Photo Gallery - Puppies: 6 - 12 months
