Increasing Trailer Weight Capacity
John T replied to Christopher's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
NY Overcharges for everything. I had this done at a huge trailer place in my town. I think the price for the two 5000lb axles alone where around $775, The 5 wheels with the tires cost about $750-$800(They were at least a $150 a piece) then add in the labor and the tax and it was a little over $2400..Probably a high price everywhere but on Long Island where everything is off the charts when it comes to anything here...We have to pay. Do Not move here and ones who do get out while you can:sonic: -
Who's going to this and can someone tell me more about it? I got a call today about it and I'm probably going to attend but I didn't have anytime to talk about it at length. From what I'm hearing this is going to be a good show but I don't know the specifics yet. I'll find out more about this show soon enough but whoever knows about it now...how bout spilling the beans and let the cat out of the bag.

Increasing Trailer Weight Capacity
John T replied to Christopher's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Chris, I had to do exactly that last month because with my water tank full(225 gallons) in my 18ft trailer my total weigth was well over 9000lbs. It was just a matter of time before I broke the axels and the consequences would have been terrible at best. I also carry a 465 gallon water tank in the back of my Dodge Dually so I'm hauling around some serious weight and for something to go wrong...well it could be deadly. So because my trailer was completely set-up for what I need it for and its only two years old I had to open up my wallet to change out the axles and the wheels. With labor and all it was not Cheap.Along with the 4 new wheels and larger tires and the spare I paid about $2500 to have those 5000llb axles installed. Its expensive but I figured I'd do it right instead of taking a risk and breaking those 3500lb axles. I take no short cuts in my business because to me its not worth the risk... Good luck -
The IWCA's organization I forever hear good things about. I've talked to many from that organization and of course served on the PWNA Board with two past Presidents of the IWCA who are Jim Grady and Kenny Cohn. The IWCA was very influential in having a standard set which is that safety hook thats a must on top of tall buildings so people who hang off the sides can be safely roped/harness in to that hook. Could you imagine hanging over a 48 story building cleaning windows and not having a hook that became a standard available?? The most amazing pictures I've seen at some of these marketing contest were of the window washers hanging about one story down looking up at the lense of a camara with the busy streets 50 stories below them..Just close your eyes and you can picture it...Amazing!! So with that being said it looks like one of the ways to get a standard set is thru a major priority which is SAFETY. Another possibility is maybe thru reclaiming. IF the ***** or the PWNA can ever become the standard bearer of that there org's will explode. Robert Hindeliter is the ring leader of this and he is forever traveling around the country promoting and talking reclaiming. This was the number one factor as to why I joined the ***** and me still being a huge PWNA supporter. I can see Roberts vision but I still can't grasp it because I am a slow learner. I need to hear him speak a few more times before I can really have it sink in as to what to do in my area as far as dealing with AHJ's etc. Besides what I said above does anyone think there ever will be a way to set standards in wood restoration?? That one seems to me to be just about impossible due to so many different beliefs and approaches. Some AHJ's believe mixing in bleach in there cleaning process while others are adamantly against that. In the wood industry you can't even get all to agree about "Wood Glaze" or when its best to even stain new wood. There may never be a standard set in the wood restoration field and there may never be a need for it. Safety is an easy one and reclaiming is a strong possibility for standards to be set. These are paramount to an organization if they can get these done. That makes there certifications so much more valuable. Setting "The" Standard...is the Golden KEY!!!
-
Imagine a group of guys brainstorming at a roundtable and then they see a way to get a "Standard" set in stone and what it will take to get that done. Now that would be truly amazing and to get recognized for it then the sky is the limit for that roundtable it they wanted to take that avenue. Any other thoughts??

I ds'ed my first moldy house today
John T replied to Jarrod's question in Residential Pressure Washing
For me personally I tried the downstreaming for years and went thru quite a few injectors with all the chlorine that ran thru them. Once I discovered the x-jet and the strength that I could put my house mix on the downstreaming became ancient history..I like my chemicals strong so I can kill the mold fast and clean the house even faster..this more then pays for the extra amount of "Love" that I use.. -
Cooper can you explain that again..I must be misreading it..it looks like you clean a third of it each time and it takes your worker 4-5 hrs to do it when he;s there. So lets say its 4 hrs and 29,000 sq' divided by 3 =9667sq' x .02 per sq to clean it= $193..for 4-5 hrs worth of work.. That can't be right..Is it??

Full time or part time?
John T replied to One Tough Pressure's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Keith, I'll tell you what I do that works for me. Many others can also give you some good advice here. First off if you want to read a little about the Clean Water act and reclaiming you can get some of that off of one of my websites Pressure washing and cleaning concrete, building washing, commercial power washing, EPA Clean Water Act reclaimation and capture compliance in New York - Clean Up America The rule of thumb is only "Rain down the storm drain". On my website I have a couple of Certifications with one being from the PWNA Power Washers of North America - THE industry association for the power washing, pressure washing and pressure cleaning industry. Find Power washing companies, power washing contractors, pressure washing compnaies and power washing chemcial and equip As for my other business Pressure washing and sealing decks, fences, house washing, power washing building exteriors Clean County Power Washing - Long Island New York you will see that I have a wood certification also thru the PWNA. There are plenty of other places also that you can learn about wood restoration and Power washing in general such as from the ***** - Contractors On The Move , Delco at Delco Cleaning Systems of Fort Worth, Pressure Power Washers or from Contractor education services at http://ceswebsite.com/ I'm surprised that you were able to get a business license in your state without proof of insurance. In my state to get a contractor license you must have proof of insurance and for that I use Joe Walters Joseph D. Walters Insurance Agency, Inc. - Insurance for Power Pressure Wash Contract Cleaners, 800-878-3808 who knows all about what a Powerwasher needs. He is a co- founder of both the PWNA and the *****. Also another thing you should consider besides one day possibly joining these orgs to help in the marketing of your business and making many connections is to keep track on this bulletin board when the next Roundtable event is. You can travel to these like I do and get a wealth of knowledge and make many contacts and friends in this industry. You can also look for ones that are close to your home. Maryland may have one in the near future. Rumor also has it that there could be one in Richmond VA after the summer. Last but never least use the search button above and type in what your looking for to get some more info and feel free to post anymore questions you have...anytime. I hope this gives you some needed insight.. Good Luck -

I got this email the other day about the PWN bb. It was sent by *someone* thru Dan flynn's bb address.I checked to find the thread and I could not find it.. Now the bb is not coming up the last few days.. Does anyone know what happened to this. This was the header of that email I recieved from *someone* who ask how much for the site which I wouldn't know because I have nothing to do with that site except I donated to it once. -------'PWN Will BE Shut Down or Passed Along.'------

The thing that cements my ties with Joe Walters is because he knows all of the ins and outs of the Powerwashing business. He is also one of the founders of the PWNA and has been to many many Conventions. The highest Honor a Powerwashing Vendor can recieve in the PWNA is..."The Joe Walters Award". I like to use guys that I can trust and Joe is a true blue Powerwashing guy...
-
Thats amazing how little you guys are paying for that much coverage. Are you sure your covered for Powerwashing? I have Joe Walters ins. and I'm very happy with the rates I pay even though there not that cheap but I'm covered completely under Powerwashing. That's critical because if your not covered for powerwashing even though you have that much insurance my bet is your insurance company will not pay out for damages. Some may want to double check there insurances. Painting a Building doesn't fall under Powerwashing a building...

Ah oh...Sunday nite there going to show these tombs of Jesus, Mary Magedon(His supposed wife), There child along with Joseph and Mother Mary. Oh boy this is going to spark off some serious debates. James Cameron(Titanic) is either very brave like Mel Gibson was with his reiligious flick...or he's very stupid. Fanatics kill over there beliefs. I bet whether he's right or wrong James Cameron will probably wish he never did get involved in this never ending religions belief systems that are in place. Should be an interesting fall out from this show...which I probably won't watch because thats the night for "Desperate Housewives"...

NEW ACR Round Table Event information! March 10 & 11 - don't miss it!
John T replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Industry News & Events
All my items are now sold by people attending the ACR roundtable. They have to be there to pick it up. -
Jeff, My Mother in-law can answer that for you because I have those same type questions like most of the people I know do. It comes down to this...You have to have "Faith" call it blind faith but you have to have "faith" and if you keep questioning things like I do yes it will not add up...so you either believe or you don't. I for one don't buy into that. If it can't be explained to me where it makes sense then its myth. Thats just me and many millions more. Still I'm not worried about going to heaven or not. I've been fair and honest all my life and to me thats what...ALL GODS WANT!! So my conscience is clear. See ya in heaven..but lets not rush to get there:)
-
Go with your soul. I believe that you should question something if it doesn't add up and alot of the bible doesn't add up. Like the Noa's arc story. If Noa and his family where the only survivors after the earth was flooded how did we get to so many people today. Did his family have *** with each other to produce more children then when they got older they did the same thing. And where do the black, Korean etc. races come in. Go with your heart,,go with your soul. If you believe that you can't question the bible then go with that. My dilemma right now is in my family I believe that none of them should ever go into anything with "Blind Faith" but of course now my 6 yr old daughter of all things really loves religion and she says grace at our table. The rest of my family is not that religous but we don't want to destroy my 6 yr olds faith.. My wife is always telling me to not tell her whats on my mind(My wife is Somewhat religious who went to catholic schools all thru her school yrs) so I don't. She'll have to make her own choices when she gets older. My oldest daughter is like me who questions......EVERYTHING!! Her and I have a need to know bases and myths to us don't add up.. We want facts.

Someone pleez run me over with a weed whacker!!!
John T replied to Jarrod's question in The Club House
Don't ya just hate those kind of days. About a month ago the starter on my bucket truck decides to burn up in my driveway. So I get my wife out to sit in the truck so I can tow it out of the way from my trailer that I need to use for a job. I tow the bucket truck to the end of my driveway then I tell my wife to step on the brakes. I unhook the rope then I give the truck a little push (Truck weighs 10,000lbs) to get it goin down my slightly down hill driveway. My wife forgets to step on the brake because the truck is going backwards so slow that she hits the deck and breaks the stairs and part of the deck. Then she gets out of the truck and says its my fault because I didn't tell her to stop. Just one of those kind of days. -

The Movie was nothing to right home about. One of those type of movies that you can just tell that they couldn't get the story in correctly within the length of the movie which made it kind of all over the place. I heard the book is some read and is one of the biggest sellers worldwide.

OK just playing off of Al Gore's success from the oscars.:lgsideway Hey If I remember correcty didn't Al Gore's family make there money from the tobacco industry...and he invented the internet.lol I have to say Big Al seemed very likable at the acedemy awards but I sure could not stand him when he was a VP. Maybe Because of his link with Bill Clinton he got alot of bad press. The killer with Big Al was that yes he got the popularity vote in 2000 but lost his own state of Tennesee that killled him going into Florida. Its amazing how some of these guys lose there own states. Me being a Gulliani fan I could see him losing NY even though he was a hero during 9-11 only because NY is a very liberal state which is part of the reason Hillary plopped her fat behind here...

Right up there with Oprah Winfrey who says she is an environmentalist and yet she gets jetted around the world and her house puts out as much pollution probably then my whole block combine. I like her but these people always make me laugh when they talk about being an environmentalist yet there so rich that everything they do pollutes the earth. Just the fumes coming out of the Jets she uses is probably causing more pollution then all of us combined. You just can't have it both ways.

Hey Bob from Userose one day maybe in the not so distant future once I get my Swabby set-up you and I will do a dual demo......a friendly faceoff at a Roundtable of our choosing and I will promise that I will not drop in a 454 engine into the swabby and we will see which set-up works best. Of course we will consider the prices of each to set handicaps. We can also have some raffe winners or just anyone try our machines so they can make up there own minds but the ones that do have to be quoted..I could contact Cleaner Times about this. We can also track down some other companies accross the country to see if they want to enter..R U in???? This would be fun!!! Just another idea to make these Roundtables a lesson experiences along with a show... Yup I could here it now..Bob is putting rockets on his yellow machine.lol And I can see it now the people who are watching will be seeing the money they can make by just daydreaming of having one of these highend machine. The'yll be looking like this.:lgmoneyey :lgmoneyey :lgmoneyey
