  2. The Wall in Texas--Political topic(Pictures)

Just like Donnie Brasco did(Maybe that is the real Donnie Brasco) which became a Movie staring Al Pacino..Hey Did I tell you guys that John Gotti Jr lives a stone throw away from where I'm at now in my station House..At least my Gang is bigger then his..Where about 100,000 strong in NY alone..thats PWNA..err I mean Cops in NY. Somebody just asked me yesterday if I carry my gun when I'm out in the middle of the night doing commercial accounts..My Answer is the same as most other Powerwashers which is..I have a zero degree nozzle which should do the job:) Capo....why do you disrespect me so....Underwear... I mean Underboss is my title:)
  3. The Wall in Texas--Political topic(Pictures)

  4. New Trailer

Nice trailer..Got to love those dual Axle it makes a world of difference with weight issues..
  5. John Kerry - Did I say that?!?!

Holy Crap me and Scott are in total agreement on something:) First off I've been to muslem countries. I was out in Lebenon bringing in the new Marines after the muslim extremest blew up our men of honor in the barricks back in 83. The job I had back them was what you saw in the Movie "Saving Private Ryan" I was a boatswain Mate and a Mic 6 boat coxain which was the boat driver. If this was World War II I would have been one of those guys driving those boats onto land at Normandy..Probably would have been killed if that was the case but for this country I would have done it with no questions asked. Just like the Marines today are doing honorably. What gets lost in the mix is that John Kerry and just about everyone else was in agreement with this war initially. Yes the weapons of mass destruction report turned out to be not that accurate but at the time no one really new that..But the bigger reason is hidden in all of this and no its not the oil..If that was the case then we would be in Chile right now stealing Chavez's mass oil supply. The hidden reason was that Saddam Hussein was harboring alquida terrorist. I'm happy we took out Saddam Hussein and for that I tip my hat to Pres. Bush and more importantly to our Military personal. I'm not happy with the Pres. for not capturing the biggest Fish in the tremendous Pond with that being Osama Bin Laden but at least we crippled his terrorist team. We need to forever go after this terrorist group and if we have to we should chase them around the world and right off the planet as in killing them all..Untill then they will always target us and other Free society's. Its just the way it is...
  6. John Kerry - Did I say that?!?!

Kerry aka "The Flip Flopper" lost for a reason. Now he's being an ass...make that a stuck up ass. Man I'm glad I didn't vote for that idiot. The Democrats should throw that phony medal guy out of there party..What a disgrace. John Edwards should have been running for pres. for that party and Kerry should have done what he can do best..flipping burgers:) That Flip flopper flop flipper..
  7. Average age at start up

I've been Powerwashing for 11+ yrs now and I've been a Police Officer for 20 yrs. Both incomes at times are similiar. Sometimes my income from Powerwashing is far ahead of my income as a cop..but then come those cold winter months this is when I'm most happy being a publice servant..Still when I'm all said and Done My Powerwashing career will be much longer then my "Other Job" unless I'm crazy enough to do both for another 20 yrs. Oh yea today I'm an old 45..just stripped a large deck that took the whole day...
  8. If your Chlorine mix didn't clean that did you try a stronger mix of it to see what happens. If you did this and nothing happened then it looks like the stain is failing in that area. Maybe the stain was originally put over the wood that had mildew on it already which is causing the stain to fail in those areas. Another thought is that the wood is getting wet behind it which would mean some kind of structural fault.
  9. Welcome to the Jungle...

If thats the only size Powerwasher you have then it will have to do. If the mildew just rubs off on your finger and this is a PVC boardwalk its a cinch to clean. If you dont have 500' of hose I would purchase it for a job like this so in the future you can handle this and other bigger jobs. To Clean this board walk I would soak it then spray a chlorine mixture all over it then just rinse it clean...I woul prabably also charge at least in the neighboorhood of $400 for a job like this and it shouldn't take you any more then an 1-1.5 hrs to complete. Pvc Cleans like a charm and it easy Money...To bad you didnt have a much higher gpm machine for this but either way this job is easy money.
  10. There is Superstitiousness....

Sounds like OCB(Obssesive Complusive disorder) or is it just overly superstitious..hmmmmmm
  11. Renting Equipment

I guess it depends where you live. PA maybe just a hair cheaper then long Island NY but the rental place by me www.allinone.com charges for a 2500psi cold water Powerwasher $60/4hrs or $90 for the day and a hot water 2000 psi machine is a daily rent only @ $105/day. These are there current prices that I'm looking at now since I have there current brochure cause I just rented something off of them a few weeks ago. SO to Rent a reclamining set up----I have no idea and as stated above this would be the one thing that I would need to rent at these places beside maybe a lift.
  12. Large Hot Washers

Hey Tom, How hot can you make propane burners go?? I have no degree knob on my burners and according to the Silver Eagle Place they said for me to increase the temperature all I have to do is turn the porpane knob higher but to not exceed about 14(PSI or whatever that number stands for on the the propane guage). With that being said I can only get about 175 degree's out of the end of my 200' hose. I'm speculating that maybe I lose about 20 degrees along the length of the hose where I have the temp guage hooked up. My question is what happens if I raise the propane up to lets say the number 20?? I would think that the burners would burn hotter. I guess I should call Silver eagle and ask them to because they made this set-up but I'm curious as to what your answer would be. SHould I bring my trailer to you Roundtable??
  13. I can see that cause In Cali there is NO down time due to weather. Alan I sent you that email a couple of times. I'll try again with the above email that you posted. If you don't get it then something has to be wrong with your email. Maybe you spam blocker is blocking more then you think...
  14. HELP! - Leaking Flojet

You'll probably have to rebuild the Flojet. The last time I ran Chlorine thru mine I went thru three of these flojet surflo pumps in a summer. The Sodium Hypochlorite ate these things alive. Today I use only my x-jet when dealing with chlorine/Bleach. I have another pump that I'm going to set-up to handle chlorine straight. Another pump you can use is the John Blue pumps. Go to the roof section here and ask Don Phelps about those pumps. As for the typical flojet/surflo pumps they will be devoured eventually by the devistating effects from Sodium Hypoclorite.
  15. Stucco Solutions?

Hey Lindenhurst. This is John From Kings Park about a 1/2 hour from you. In cleaning stucco I would use a strong solution of Sodium Hypoclorite(Pool Shock) which is 12.5% sodium Hypoclorite and mix it with Tide and liquid cascade. This is the same mix I used for vinyl but I would use more Sodium hypoclorite in my mix to clean Stucco. Like Ken said you may need a little pressure from the Powerwasher via Extension wand also to get the stucco cleaned. First off rinse the stucco and windows and the surrounding Landscaping. Then with your x-jet shoot up the solution onto the Stucco. Then when done rinse again the windows so the solution does not dry on them. Also rinse again the Landscaping so not to kill anything. Make sure while doing all this the solution does not dry on the house. Mist it if you have to, to keep the solution wet so it can keep cleaning the stucco. Now Powerwash the stucco with the least amount of pressure possible. When done once again rinse the windows and the landscaping and also the house. This is what works for me when cleaning Stucco. Good Luck and If you have to you can call me at 631-544-4971. Hey I bet you have stopped in at Industrial Equipment in Farmingdale in the past. If you stop in there again in the future mention my name..They know me well. Oh in case you don't know who they are there a distributer in our area. www.indequipment.com I had a roundtable there 2 yrs ago.
  16. Is one employee worth it?

yea that be the one...Dont matter the dodge will be sold and with that I'll pay the last year of my wife tahoo off then she'll get the rest to buy furniture...You got to grease the hands once in awhile
  17. Allan, Its fun trying to figure out how your going to lay out the trailer and then getting it done. I enjoyed this process. What I did was draw the trailer to scale. 1/2" =1' so 9"=18' then I measure out all my equipment and drew a square to scale so since my Powerwasher was 5' long by about 3ft wide I cut out a 2.5" x 1.5" piece of paper and laid it in the trailer picture I had drawn. If you remember colorforms that where around in the 70's it was along this principle. I cut out every piece of equipment drawn to scale and just played around with that in my trailer drawing to maximize my space. When I actually put my equipment in the trailer everything fit like a glove and this also showed me that an 18 ft trailer is the smallest size I needed for the equipment that I had. John T. Did u ever get my email??
  18. Is one employee worth it?

Craig, I'm not that close in getting a swabby....yet. I'm trying to find work that can justify the expense for it. There's a big company here that may be looking for bids to have there parking garages powerwash and I think there going to want that water reclaimed. If the opportunity arises and they accept bids and then if I'm picked this is when I'll Have Pete/Tracy put a swabby deal together for me. If I buy the swabby now with out having any work to justify it right away I think my wife would SHOOT ME!! Especially since I just bought that F-350:)
  19. Large Hot Washers

The only problem about that machine is that it looks like it can only keep 5.5 gallons hot. I like mine better because I can keep both my 5.5 gallons hot or have the whole 11gpm hot. THat one burner on that machine could not be able to keep 11gpm hot enough. Also when doing sidewalks on my machine you could have two guys using 5.5 gpm Surface machines or both guys popping gum at 5.5gpm with 15 degree tips all with 200+ degree water. This other machine can't do that but then again its a much cheaper machine and you get what you paid for. For the money though its a nice set-up ALLAN DID YOU GET MY EMAIL????
  20. Is one employee worth it?

Craig if your really interested in getting the swabby down the road let me know. Maybe between us two we can negotiate a better deal then if someone was to buy one. I may lease a swabby...I still need a few more months to think about this one but it seems my direction of travel is always turning towards a swabby. John T.
  21. Hey Alan, I would look on ebay for an enclosed trailer. Just watch Ebay for a week or two and you will find the trailer your looking for at a steel of a deal of a price. I've seen some ot the most phenomimal trailers come out of there that where Pace, United, you name it and like new cars once these trailers are driven off the lot there prices drop tremendously. Just look at the trailer I just bought. Here with the 4 ft custom side doors and vinyl walled inside would have ran that trailer about $2000 more then what I paid for it.. Why don't you tell us exactly what you want in a trailer as in size, Color, Axle strenth..preferable makes etc..maybe between all of us we can find what your looking for. With my free time on my other job I can help you track a trailer that can fit your needs....Like a Match maker:)
  22. Another Great Powerwashing BBS Started

I met Bob, I talked with Bob, I bought from Bob and I think Bob is a sweetheart of a man that really does care about us contractors in this industy..I support Bob fully and I wish him nothing but the best:)
  23. talking websites-R they worth it.

I think one of the neat things about this is that you can change the voices to where its your wife or signifcant other who's voice can be put in place there. Since my wife does the majority of my calls I would have her voice incorporated into it....except with a female who only looks to be about 22. Thanks God my wife doesn't read these bb's :)
  24. Ken--yes of course you can't give away the price of what you charged and If I had to guess since you used 47 gallons of stain which with other items needed to get the job done(Gas,stain pads, brushes etc.) probably costing close to a grand on materials I would charge between 6-$8000+ for a job that size. Since I do most of my stain jobs by how long it will take me instead of measuring out these type jobs I was just wondering if you calculated the total sq' footage of the job to figure your price. The largest Deck job I did this summer with two other guys took us two days to do. One day to strip and the other day to stain. This deck was almost all surface with only a few walls to it. We used about 35 gallons of Cabots stain all put down with big fat brushes that screw on to a pole. Kind of like large scrub brushes with lighter bristles.
