5000 square feet of acrylic !

Nice Job and cool video. It looked like the Job from Hell that was brought back to life. How did you price a job out of that size? -
Thats a great post!! Joint Venture now I can see that working great and besides getting paid for each job done together you can still do your own thing and are not obligated to each other. On the other hand a partnership is like a Marriage and a disagreement.....well we all know the rest of the story.

Who makes the most durable enclosed trailer?
John T replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I had a United trailer that held up well and eventually sold it to someone who use to post here alot. Since I loved that 7x12ft trailer I ended up buying another one this year that is 7x18ft and its also a United trailer. Probably the best trailers that I've seen and priced out in the past where the Pace trailers but the United and the price I paid for these trailers where more in line in what I wanted to pay for a trailer. If you want a trailer that can really carry alot of weight then look at the Gooseneck trailers. You can store a few thousand pounds in front of this type trailer where a conventional trailer like I have you don't want to have to high of a toung weight where you can break the hitch(Been there and done that). What Size trailer are you looking at?? -
I used to advertise in a few of those local papers and I also had a one line add in the yellow pages..That was 11 years ago when I first started out. Today I don't advertise in the local papers anymore and I only advertise in the Yellow Pages..Reason being that I have enough repeat customers that I don't need to get much more there and there all RESIDENTIAL. What I'm looking for is more Commercial and I get that thru the Yellow pages. I guess its a matter of how long you've been in business and what Market your targeting and what works best in your area. I just know in my neck of the woods commercial work most likely will not come from the local pennysavers(Papers) but residential work thats probably the best place here to advertise.

I also debated over this summer in splitting up my business with my full time guy. It was a pretty decent cash offer that everyone I talked to about it said.."DONT DO IT!!!!"\ The deal was on the table with a time frame of a few thousand up front and the rest before the end of the year. It was easy cash and since at that time I had two guys working for me and about to hire another one it seemed like a great way to go so I can spend time expanding this business without just about ever doing the physical end(A business growth killer). In the end I pulled the deal off the table and shut it out of my mind. Taking on partners just has to many downsides compared to the upsides and in any business plan thats not a direction that is recommended. If your head tells you one thing and your heart tells you another..then go by your gut instinct and see what that says...you already know the answer..

Before I contracted and I was using a ladder I would never ever walk underneath it..Now since time is money I walk underneath them if its the shortest way to get to point B from point A. Back in my Hockey days I always had to tie my skates TWICE before the game started. I always did this but never thought much about it except to think I would have a bad game if I didn't do this. A few years after there was a baseball player a few of us older timers here can remember well who always had to eat Chicken before a game....any guesses who this was and he was pretty good. Won a whole bunch of batting titles in the eighties.

Would you attend a Grime Scene Round Table event?
John T replied to Beth n Rod's question in The Club House
With the tough year on Rod with the banged up leg thats probably still healing(Us 40+ year olds seem to take forever to heal) Maybe a winter date is a possibility. For now I'm targeting Tom Vogels Roundtable on November 19th to be marked off as the must place to be on my schedule.....Oh yea my left knee is just starting to feel like its healed..I think I hurt it somehow not to long ago...like last winter... -
ME!!!! Cause my 6 yr old says I am. Man Paul B. I think is really a college Professor who does Powerwashing on the side..I'd like to pick his brain on some other issues but not here...Maybe in person if I ever get to meet him at a roundtable...Hey Paul why don't you truck it up to Tom Vogel's roundtable. When I read Pauls post I always think about that Phenomonal book "Tuesdays with Maury" in this book Maury had some unbelievable wisdom which all should read..as short and true book and one amazing story. I read it cover to cover on a plane trip to Dallas a few years ago. Does paul have this kind of wisdom...... hmmmmm

Hey Johnny boy how's live been treaten ya. I miss the hell out of you posting. We go back quite a few years now..Hey if you happen to be in Arizona next March stop on in and look for me. A steak Dinner on me if you find me...I really miss ya..and No I'm not gay..not that there is anything wrong with that(Seinfeld show) As or that truck 50,000 miles on that engine means you only have about 300,000 to a Million left on it....I can handle that. That ball in the bed comes out so that bed can be used to stack things in it like a 465 gallon water tank. I don't think this truck is a 4 wheel drive but how important is a 4 wheel drive considering the weight of this truck....and oh yea I put a bid in for this truck while my wife is next to me sleeping. I just found out that my credit score is 793...I need to bring that down some:)

Hello fellow New Yorker...where about in NY are u located. I'm on the Island not far from the ocean. I would recommend the 4.0gpm portable. Its a great start up machine and you can pull it right out of the trailer and up to the job site. Out by me sometimes you need to get these portables into the backyard of the house and its not always convenient to have it bolted down in the trailer because of this. If your business grows then down the road the larger machines should be an option and the 4.0 machine could be your back-up. Also if you plan on going into the Commercial sector then you will need a hot water machine which will cost you around 4-6 times what a 4.0 gpm cold water machine cost. At this time I would invest in that 5.5-8.0gpm hot water machine. You could use this hot water machine as a cold water machine also. Spend your money wisely...and alot of what you spend is whats at your disposal and how much time and effort you can devote to this business. Bob from Pressuretek is a great place to purchase the equipment you need!! Good Luck

My Enclosed trailer with large Powerwasher
John T posted a topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Here's some pictures of my 18'x7' Enclosed trailer that I set-up about a month ago. The Propane tank that I put on the tounge of this trailer was a bad idea and I since put a different Propane tank on my truck. I also have another smaller propane tank that I could put in the pick-up truck to take if needed. The non skid I put in the trailer myself. I rolled it on and I did the whole floor and ramp for about a $100. To have this done by Line X professionally they wanted $800+. -
My Enclosed trailer with large Powerwasher
John T replied to John T's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
The bucket truck is a diesel with a working height of 36' which means the bucket goes 30' high and with me in there with an 19' extension wand I have a working height of 54' plus:) Buy these trucks diesel so u can tow with them and they don't burn up to much fuel. I get about 10mpg with this truck and trailer. -
My Enclosed trailer with large Powerwasher
John T replied to John T's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
No what do you think this is California:) I do have water bags to make damns if needed so if that counts as recovery then I have that. I'm looking all the time about recovery equipment like the swabby machine but I still can't justify the expense...yet. -
My Enclosed trailer with large Powerwasher
John T replied to John T's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I bought this Red trailer and paid $4000 for it. It had the Vinyl walls in it already. The trailer was 2 yrs old and had at most 300 miles on it. I'm beating this trailer to death already:) The chemical switches will sooner or later be hooked up to shurflo set-up that came with I think 15 gallon tanks. This is a neat set-up but still have to find time to install these tanks and surflo set-up. The diesel sprayer I have in there is still the mystery. I'm wrapping my brain on what to do with it... The Box truck will be up for sale soon. This truck will be had for a great deal Once I get it cleaned up and put on Ebay. I'll post pictures of it here when it goes up for sale. I have the first aid kit in my garage and the fire extinguisher. I'm glad that was brought up here cause I forgot all about it. Just have to find time to install it. I'll most likely bring this trailer set-up to Tom Vogels roundtable.. -

Large Hot Washers
John T replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
When using this Powerwasher at 11gpm for the flat surface machine its great. For blowing off bumm to kingdom come is awesome. To rinse of anything phenominal!! For strenghtening or tiring our your arms and shoulders...its good for that to:) But basically its money in the bank for me. Of course since I was told that the Pump cost in the neighborhood of $5000 if something was to go wrong then to fix it will cost a ton...The price of doing business with high end equipment..To me its worth the risk. I will post some pictures of this powerwashing set-up thats now in my enclosed trailer. I'll start a different thread for this. -
QC coupler exploded-the results
John T replied to Chris S's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
In 11 yrs of powerwashing with machines that range from 3000-4000 psi I've never seen that happen..Thank God. I did break couplers, got them crush by a brinks truck, Abused them any which way you can but never had one explode. Could it be that your running bleach thru your hoses and it caused the coupler to become brittle. Caustics are bad on Metal. -
Large Hot Washers
John T replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Hey Carlos----I bought this guys set-up that was pratically brand new. They paid $42,000 for the whole set-up which included the trailer and plenty of extra's. THis set-up only had 2 hrs on it. It was purchased for a multi Million Dollar buildings clean up job.The job went bad which caused this engineering company to put this rig on the selling block. I paid $26,000 for all of it and then I sold off the trailer for $4000. I could sell off the Diesel sprayer that came with this set-up for at least another $4000 which would make the total purchase price at about $18,000. I'm going to keep the diesel sprayer for the time being cause I'm still trying to find a reason to use it so my total is back up to $22,000. All of this was of course a write off and in between I sold about $20,000 woth of equipment to make this purchase. So in reality it was a push. I love this new set-up and it saves me so much time when I do certain accounts so its money in the bank!!! -
