Ideal Flatwork Set Up
John T replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I thought a box truck was the way to go but when I had the stearing unit go bad on it and the truck was stuck up in the shop for a week I decided to go back to an enclosed trailer. This time I bought an 18' enclosed trailer which is large enough to hold most of my equipment. I have dropped this trailer off at job sites and even left it locked up there over night a couple of times. With Powerful locks on this trailer and a Hitch lock to go along with it my trailer was pretty safe. So with all this being said I would reccommend the enclosed trailer set-up. Also I carry 3 powerwashers in this trailer and I would reccommend once again to carry at least two powerwashers if you can afford to in case one breaks down. Once I was doing a commercial job years ago and one of my hot water machines broke down and could not be fixed at the job site. Because of this I had to drive 1 hr back to my house and get my other hot water trailer and bring that to the commercial job site. A lesson learned here was to carry at least two Powerwashers to every job site so if something goes wrong I have a back up system in place. -
Large Hot Washers
John T replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I have a 11gpm 48hp diesel Powerwasher that can run two guns at 5.5gpm. This unit also comes with two propane burners that burn real clean. Got the idea of using propane burners from Dave Olsen. These burners have very few parts and burn much cleaner then diesel burners. My set-up came from this company http://www.silvereaglemanufacturing.com/ -
How true...Also never take anything for granted because in doing so it could come around and bite you right in the xxx.

I'm looking to purchase a trailer tongue Box like this one http://www.americanvan.com/catalog/standard_huge_split.cfm?FamilyID=302 The only problem is that I want to store my gas cans in there. I'm thinking that this can't be done because the trailer Box is completely enclosed. Somewhere on this bb or another one some one posted a picture of there Tongue Box on there trailer that was like a cage. This is what I want so I like they did can store Gas cans in there and also lock up the Box. Does anyone know where I can purchase a caged Tongue box?? Thanks

Why does winter scare contractors away?
John T replied to RockyMountainMobileWash's topic in Business Topics & Tips
I'm thinking if you got the dough then go for it. I agree with alot the guys above are saying and especially when it comes to residential. If you have the funds then make sure you have a rock solid business plan and if you have enough start up capital like it sounds like you do since you want to buy the equipment you mention then spend your advertising Money wisely and Advertise like crazy if you can swing it. Winter is a tough time to start up and to be perfectly honest you can get all your equipment soon and then gear up to flood that Advertising in your area in March. For now I would track down all Property managers in your area and then some. Knock on all stores in your area and find out who there property managers are. You need to know this so you can start securing commercial accounts.. Commercial accounts are generally done all year long. I'm from NY and I have a couple of Commercial accounts that are done monthy. I'm the one who determins if they can be done every month. The Prop. Man. companies want me to get them done because If I can't then I don't get paid and they don't get paid...but of course if the weather is to bad for the whole month then its understandable....But..in over 6 yrs I don't think I ever missed a month yet..So we all got paid. So if you have the Capital, The Business plan, The determination..Then I say go for it. You only come around once in this life time. -
Thanks Alan..I knew I seen it recently somewhere. I'll wait for Jeffs Response.

urgent ! Need edvice ( prolly OT, sorry)
John T replied to back2new's topic in Business Topics & Tips
I had this problem a few year ago when I bought a Powerwashing set-up in Arizona. The shipping companies wanted over $2000 to deliver it because of the dual gas set-up(Gas and Diesel). This was right after 9-11. In the end I had to get a guy there drive it to me for $1500. That was in the panick days..Today it should be less of a problem. -
Can anyone recommend a shipping Co. that I could use to ship this rig from Mesa Arizona(85213) to Long Island NY(11754)? The dimensions of this rig are aprox length 171"x width70"x Height 48". The weight is aprox 1600lbs. Any guesses on how much to ship? Thanks

No not yet. Beth and I are going to do some more work on my website and other things once the seasons slows...

Cujo bought my black trailer and another guy here bought my Landa hot water PW..All of these people post on Beths bb and of course I thanked her for this........... And don't tell no one but I just sent Beth a couple of $$$$ for doing me another favor. She is Mrs Powerwasher:)

Yea those Crooks...will get there's. Maybe not today or Tomorrow but sooner of later there crooked Greed will catch up with them and they will get either A-caught. B- The xxxx kicked out of them or C- Tortured and possibly killed because they messed with the wrong guy...

I used to be a nice guy, but...
John T replied to One Tough Pressure's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Allan I see your problem but I would have done the job anyway. IF the tile guys who sound like they may be illegal aliens where inside the house I to would have walked in to shut all the windows and then I would have set-up outside and started Powerwashing. I've done this in the past and even though I dont like this the job has to get done because I don't have the time of day to come back..unless if I have another job near by that can be done then I'll call that homeowner to see If I can start that job now. Either way in most cases there are solutions that seem to work even though in the midst of trying to see what they are you are a little upset because the homeowner made this job a little tough for you...It like a game of billiards....there is always a shot. P/S. I have even in the past taped closed a couple of left open windows so I could Powerwash the house. A pain and a little loss of time but the job still gets done. -
The Nutty part about this whole thing is that so many different religions have such diferent beliefs and there are hundreds of religions if not more. For all we know the Scientoligist who believe Alians where here way before we where could be right..who the heck really knows....I do know that when you act crazy, no matter what people might think, you are a bit. Just look what happened to Tom Cruise and Mel Gibson recently and these two are far from being dummies. I actually like both of those guys and I dont care what there religious or political beliefs are. I just judge them on how good there movies are. IF there movies stink I wont see it....But when it comes to extrememst such as a Hitler, Stalin or now Osama Bin Laden no matter what these guys would do or could do I would never ever support them with anything. Extremest are just to tough to deal with and there minds are shut and not open to discussions like where having here. I would love to have a sitting with the Pope and ask him a zillion questions to see what his answers are and like everyone else I know he would tell me that you have to have that magic word FAITH. You just have to believe it and to stop trying to analyze it..which for me that would be a problem at this point in my life. I'll tell ya's we'd really could use a person like a Jesus Christ to re-appear now and to show all that there is a God that all could see without any debates. No mysteries no nothing.
-
ANthony you bring up some really great points and you seem very Knowledgable on this subject so to me personally I would have a hard time debating and debunking(If thats even a word:) ) most of what your saying. But I will add this. From the little I know about the Bible because I never read it and at this time in my life I dont have an interest in reading it most of what was put in the bible was put in there by man. Man has been known to exaggerate or not get a story straight when its been passed down so many times. This is how Myths sometimes get started. Like Maybe Moses Parting the sea. I will say this..you must have faith and that faith in my opinion must be blind and undenying faith. If you have that in any religion that could be a great thing or as in some cases as with extremest it could have deadly consequences...Only each individual knows where they stand on all of this and hopefully they do the right thing whatever there decisions are...

Yup thats pretty much how I see it and I also most likely believe that there is a GOD and in this country I can have it both ways. Ah the beauty of freedom... So If I had to classify myself because alot of people like to do this about others and themselves I would say that I believe in God, I support my local Church and I do believe in Evolution...How's that for an American mixture..just like our nationalities which are many for some of us.

I singled out Priest because I'm Roman Catholic by birth and yes all Child Molesters should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law but priest that did this..in my book there the worst. I would waste them as fast as I could waste Osama..Hate those two the most..I am allowed to hate right:) Mike you asked this question and it comes down to this. You expect and should hold a priest in the highest regard in the religion and the ones that molested KIDS well now you know why I singled them out.and yes I'm not to religious as you can tell but you asked me my opinion and there it is. The ones that are in the most respected position and deal with people in need especially kids and then violate them...I don't think I need to explain myself any more on this..I'm getting upset just writing this..so there's your answer...and no I never was molested and if I was the sucker today wouldn't be walking the earth... As for my car its still listed on Ebay but its sold. Tomorrow I'm picking up the Cash and taking it off of Ebay. Thanks for asking.
-
What ever works for you no matter what the religion or non religion is that is fine with me...We just need to all try to find a way to get along or this world will come crashing down...and God or No God that will not be good. With that being said I'd still hunt down the ones who have hurt us bad such as Osama Bin Laden and any Priest that has molested a child. These people should be dealt with with swift and accurate justice.. Next batter up..........

Check out Celeste's offer. If that doesn't work out for you the I would give Joe Walters another call. He is my insurance agent and he if by far the best price that I could get in my area and he insures many many Powerwashers so he knows exactly how to insure you correctly where God forbid something was to go wrong you would know that you are completely covered. Also I met Joe a few times and what a heck of a nice guy..I highly recommend him.

My answer exactly. I'm PWNA wood certified and I market that.

I wish. Now this is..."THE TRUCK"
-
LOL. I guess I'll keep my Red Dodge Dually with the cummins engine. This truck is getting me on average 15mpg and its a work horse. To Bad I hit it with my Box truck awhile back..yup I did that when my worker was in the Red Dodge..He gets out of the dodge and says I just hit it and I say yea right your nuts. Sure as xxxx he was right. Can't blame the worker on that one.
-
These type trucks can tow over 19,000lbs so you could have a nice size trailer carrying maybe 1500lbs of water and all your equipment to the commercial site that needs to be powerwashed. One big problem...These trucks can cost from $70,000 to over $100,000. Here's a website that has some pictures of these trucks. http://www.f650pickups.com/page0009.html http://www.backcountryjournal.com/f650pickup.htm
