  1. How about a picture of this rig. I'd like to see how fast a 24' trailer can fill up with the equipment you need in this business.
  2. Another thief,

Ron why don't you contact this guy and tell him to take that logo down since its already taken. Which leads me to my next question. Can our Logo's be stolen if we don't have them copyrighted which I bet most people don't??
  3. My New Truck!!

    Another Monster!!!
  4. True but it just takes that ONE time and that company will wish they had insurance.
  5. Rating bulletin boards and other sites

Me neither. With so many more post here and alot more people responding I'm as surprised as Ron is. I guess its all about where you put these sites into search engines to get them to rank higher.
  6. Rating bulletin boards and other sites

I stand corrected...*** and TGS are just about dead even. I made a mistake with *** because I didn't realize that there rating is wrapped into there main website which is propowerwash .com Here's the accurate number. Propowerwash.com Traffic Rank: 811,945 propowerwash.com - Site info
  7. Suggestions on which HOT PW to purchase

Hydrotek is a great Powerwasher. Good choice. Did you try giving Tom Vogel from http://www.acrproducts.com/ a call. His prices are very competitive and he is great with servicing what he sells. Also Expect Tom to possibly hosting another Roundtable in fall. Last year there had to be over 50 people at his shop talking...shop.
  8. Suggestions on which HOT PW to purchase

Yup thats what I do when I need to. I have an 11gpm 3500psi hot water skid and it cleans fast as heck when it comes to commercial flat work. Gum just flies off and flies away when its hit with the 15 degree tip. Its so fast and sudden. Also the rinsing is bang bang bang..done...I wish I had an even higher gpm machine like maybe 15gpm..and what a work out the arms get all the while your making alot more an hour:)
  9. Excellent post. The biggest thing that I got out of that post was to have a business plan. This is my 11th year in this business along with the 20 I have in my other job. My Powerwashing business works so well with my other job that I could do this for another 10 yrs and still not meet the dreaded failure word...Reason is because I have a business plan on how I run my company and how I stay profitable.. The ones who do jump into this business fulltime or partime they need to have some sort of plan or they will fail and whatever there plan is it better be a realistic plan or once again they will fall flat on there face!! This is probably the biggest reason why most Companies fail because of an unrealistic business plan. I don't neccessary agree if one sells his business and moved on is a failure. I know some guys in this business that have sold there business for a nice profit and moved on to another business..Those guys are what you can call are true entrepreneurs. An example of this is Chris Detter a former PWNA President who sold his Sunbrite Powerwashing Business to Pete Marentey and from what I'm hearing is the Chris is doing real well in the real estate business. That is a success story right there.
  10. A few Grime Scene statistics - August

All those number just prove one thing...That this is the most interactive Powerwashing bb on the net....thats all:)
  11. should i go full time

It also depends what your current job is. Big decision on taking that step and like the other guys are saying you better have some capital left over to carry you thru the winter months are you'll be screwed.
  12. One house at a time

Big Easy, Welcomed to the best interaction Powerwashing board on the net. Good luck in your business and if you have any questions or want to answer some or just want to shoot the breeze about this buisness feel free and fire away.
  13. My Car is for sale!!

Its an end of an error for me. My beloved Buick Grand national is on the trading block. My heart aches to sell this car but I just didn't have the time to give her the attention that she needed. Middle age is here to stay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Passenger-vehicle_W0QQitemZ170019336093QQihZ007QQcategoryZ6137QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  14. My Car is for sale!!

no I never ran it on the track. I ran it in the street a few times. I'll miss this car
  15. This summer is slow...

Scott that is true but when there not required to know how to do whats right in this field then they can more or less do whatever they want like go out and splash and dash or blow and go. You know where I stand on these issues as I know where you stand so there aint no point about us beating this old horse to death. I'm wondering where RFitz stands on this.
  16. This summer is slow...

You know I have an answer to that which maybe unpopular here but in a nut shell I'm all for Licensing, All for Org.s, All for Certifications and all for having standards set and to be adhered to in this industry. So another words Education Education Education. That is why the Lawyers, Doctors etc. get the big bucks as do Engineers. But I can hear some people right here say anyone can Powerwash and stain. Yes anyone can but can anyone do it well. You know on my other job you now need two years of college and you also must get thru a 6 month long Academy before you can hit the streets. Truthfully you learn a ton more on the streets then you ever can with College or the Academy...but..when you make those the requirements then you get the better person most of the time who are dedicated enough to do a fine job. In this Industry untill the standards and requirments are raised you will always have the hacks out there destroying the reputation of our industry. The Lawyers and Doctors and so many other professions keep raising the bar for themselves which in turn cause them to make alot more money over and over again...but us in general just keep saying the same old thing that we can teach ourselves this business and so what we scar a bunch of decks in our learning curve. For some this kills our reputation and I think that is the point that Rifz above is making.
  17. Impatient People

I don't charge anything up front. What I do is that I get paid when the Powerwashing is complete. Then with that Money I buy the stain thats needed for the job. When the whole job is completed they pay me for the stain and the labor of putting down the stain. As for Soaps.Strippers, gas etc, I have all that with me at all times so all of that is always figured into the price.
  18. Whats new with *****?? Some of the leaders of this org. are founding members of the PWNA in case anyone wasn't aware of that. I haven't heard much about the ***** since there convention which I did hear it went off very nicely. So whats the news??? Anyone hear..anything???????????
  19. Man that's steep!!!! Boomlift?

Don, Can your pumps handle straight chlorine with harming them?? I ruined many shurflo pumps over the years running a watered down chlorine mixture thru it. Now that I have a Deckster pump set-up and soon to be buying another one I never run Chlorine thru them for the fear of messing up the pumps. I do have this sprayer in my trailer but I still need to hook it up. It came with the set-up that I bought last year. It has a John Bean pump which I think can handle chlorine. This is a diesel sprayer that tree companies use. Its just a matter of time before I set it up to do roofs. bldgs etc.
  20. Impatient People

I also don't have time to do a signed proposal. I don't even wait to meet the homeowners. I do the estimate alot of times in between jobs or on the way home. If there home then I meet them if not I do the estimate and leave it for them either in the door or there mailbox. I'll call them on my cell to let them know where the estimate is. As for Commercial I always get them to signed the work orders if I have them or have them signed one of my estimate sheets where it says they agreed for the contracted work to be performed by Clean County Powerwashing. As for Estimates over the phone if there the typical Vinyl house I give them the estimate right there over the phone. Then I refer them to my website and give them a fast sales pitch about myself...I usually nail these type jobs a big percentage of the time because there basic jobs. Time for me is $$$$ so I deal with it accordingly. This is what works for me and 11 yrs of doing this business you learn what works best for yourself. The days of driving a 1/2 hour to look at a Vinyl house are at most times a thing of the past for me.
  21. Cleaning at the Lincoln Memorial

Here's some more links to that job. Great Job by Henry Bockman in coming up with this idea and to plan it all out and then putting the plan into action. http://www.wtop.com/?nid=25&sid=889258 http://www.courierpostonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060821/NEWS01/608210346
  22. Man that's steep!!!! Boomlift?

I've also done roofs that steep and its a two man job. You would need a Harness and it should be tied off somewhere or have your worker work the ropes but he must have it where if you where to slip and fall you don't go off the roof. Chorine attacking moss/mildew can get slippery. This is also a good job for the Pitch Witch attachment which I also have. http://www.pitchwitch.com/
  23. This summer is slow...

August has been so so for me this year. I haven't had the big job at all this August where like in the past I would have. I think besides July and August being generally slower Months here then the other in season Months with People going on Vacations and the Gas prices going no where but Northwards its been a tougher then usual summer to make the big bucks. I do have one Building job to do this Sunday which can be banged out in about 10hrs. Its to bad that I couldn't nail that other building job this Month also because Sept for me things pick up again.. It seems to me that one of the way's around this slow month crap is to make those cold calls especially for commercial work cause that goes continuously all year...Just ask Ron **********. Even though I don't mind doing Residential work it such a pain to try to get Money out of people when they just don't have enough of it to spend for Powerwashing services.
  24. Cleaning at the Lincoln Memorial

I wish I could have been there. I can't wait to hear about the rest of the story. Another Big PWNA Clean Across America project that looks to be another big successful story.
  25. Red Sox

Thats all nice but everyone knows that the Redsox would trade it all in to be like the Yanks. The Redsox are better off being the loveable losers. Nobody cares about the Sox stunning upset of the Yanks in 04. Like Bruno says the Yanks have what 26 world Series and the Sox have what maybe 4. The Babe has more World Series rings with the Yanks then the Redsox team does in the lifetime of that Franchise. I just love the Memory of Bill Buckner throwing that Redsox automatic victory so my Mets could win it all in 86. Buckner did it on purpose because he was truly a Cub at heart...another loveable losing team............
