Need assistance: Having burner issues
John T replied to PLD's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
If its a 12 volt set-up and not a generator set-up then try charging the battery before you use it next. This may solve that initial problem where the burner smoke's when the powerwasher is first started. -
Would you want a rig like this??
John T replied to John T's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Scott, LOL. Thanks. Its funny you say Mayberry. My "other" job the surrounding Dep'ts refer to my job as Mayberry.........and I like that. -

Rod, There's some typo's in there that the owner of this rig friend put in at Ebay. So here's some of the facts and most of them are interesting. First off those Burners heat up to over 200 degrees. The 45 hp Diesel engine is really 48hp diesel. This Powerwasher is rated at 11 gpm at 3600psi and its a 2 gun set-up that gives each 5.5 gpm @ 3600psi. There's a sandblasting set-up on there that cost over $800 and also a stainless steal storage units that cost over $600 that is not figured into the $39,100 that he paid for this rig. The guy who owns this rig is an Engineer who works for his fathers company who the father owns and I've spoken to both at there company and on his cell....................The story gets more interesting........This rig was purchased for a $38,000,000(Thats no typo) Powerwashing contract that involved 80 bldgs and all of the surrounding flatwork(These bldgs are in Fort Worth Texas).........and.........when the work began the contract was lost because of a LOWBALLER!!!(Another long story which I want to get more info on). This contract also involved the Texas HWY dep't............................................................. The story gets more interesting. They still owe the bank a ton of the money on the rig............and now here's the kicker...... There was 3 guys at least who where tyring to purchased this rig off line with one being from San Diego. One from Houston and myself. The end result is it was sold for less then what was owed on it which was over $27,000. And who bought it........take one guess:) -
Charge more to compensate for the gas gouged prices. Don both are nice trucks.

Jon, I've been talking to the owner of that rig set-up for the last few days. David Olsen from Tidy Powerwash http://www.tps-inc.com has LP set-ups and I've always admired the way he has done business and the equipment he has. Who knows what I'm going to do next but my eyes are always wide open............. -
Jeff, Everything is tentative at this moment. If I do sell the trailer and your interested we could work out a deal where I meet you half way. As for the Hydrotek it will be sold with the trailer its on.
-
Jeff, How much does that new trailer going to cost and what does it come with?? I may be selling my enclosed(black) United 7x12 trailer within the next couple of days. Inside it has shelving and I will throw in a 464 gal. water tank. This trailer also has ladder racks and a ramp back door. If you look closely at the top of the trailer you will see a smoke stack. It is set up to vent a hot water rig. This stack set-up cost a few hundred bucks.I paid about $5000 for this trailer and tank back in 98. I will take $2000 for it if I do sell it. check out the picture in my "Potential equipment for sale" Post.

One Rig, 2-Man Crew... What's your avg. gross?
John T replied to Craig's question in Residential Pressure Washing
LOL. Your right about the majority and I phrased that wrong. I meant to say that out of the 4 possible choices the most voted on choice the numbers are depressing. I understand that people make different amounts of $$$$ that there area calls for but to see most so far vote for the first choice there must be some type of misunderstanding. -
One Rig, 2-Man Crew... What's your avg. gross?
John T replied to Craig's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I'm reading this post and I'm surprised to see that so far the majority says that they average between $1000-$5000/month gross for a one rig 2-man crew. That sounds real low. What am I missing there?? Unless of course its just a few hours a week partime. If it isn't then for arguements sake if you pay lets say each guy on average $10/hr x 40hrs/week then the total hours paid for 4 weeks is 320hrs x $10hr = $3200. Now the gross after taxes and paying the bills the owner will be losing Money. -

Mike- Nobody's lying. Those $$$$ are accurate whether you want to believe it or not. I was surprised myself when my guy told me what the bids where on the water towers........Speaking of "Water Towers" there organization is if I understand this corrrectly much larger then the PWNA and there Convention attracts a ton of people. Here's another little insight about the Water Tower Org. Thru this org a member gets certified to clean these water towers and that goes along way in nailing down these type jobs. It might even be mandatory to have these certifications to even get these jobs(I have to find out about that one to be sure). A ton of business if you want to play with the big boys is done thru networking.....this is one of the reasons why I support orgs. Another huge tip for you that I learned from talking with some of the bigs in this business as far as orgs go...BOMA!!! To be a member of that org. its somewhere around $1000/yr and aprox $200/month fee's to attend there meetings etc. The end result there is that you can get some really big commercial accounts which will make that membership price worth its weight in GOLD!!! Back to this post my commercial side of my business is growing and with a rig like the above I can see the tremendous upside to it. The downside is I will have to sell some items to pay for a rig of that magnitude which most likely I will not get and if I do I will put the items for sale here first to give some of you some good deals for this business. Jon Fife- That bucket truck is $$$$ in the bank. Just ask the guys that powerwashed the Cooperstown Hall of Fame baseball stadium that we just did for the PWNA Clean Across America Campaign. For $10,000 this truck was a steal and you can get one for less if your a little bit lucky. -

Lance thats the line I use when I can't afford something...like this rig :) I would love to have it and put a ton of hoses on it so it can reach most anywhere. Just a dream. -
Being an ex smoker (5+yrs) I feel that smokers are getting a bum rap from the self rightious and usually EX SMOKERS. Bars should allow smoking in them if the OWNER wants to. If he/she doesn't then go somewhere else. If they ever even try to ban Cigarettes they will see the Mobsters making some major $$$$ just like prohibition.

Scott your ticket to Heaven will be waiting for you many years from now. The odd thing about marketing good deeds is that you can generate more income to do more of the good deeds. Its like a double edged sword but I admire your reasoning for not wanting to Take this road. As for the PWNA its a great marketing tool where both sides can win. The people who spend the $$$$ for our services and the people who get serviced by us free of charge....Hence the double edged sword.
-
This was a major positve experience and it also saved the Cooperstown stadium at least $15,000 + since we did it for free. We gave back to the Community and also to our national pastime(Baseball). Wait untill you see our next years project. Its going to make the Powerwashing of the Presidents Heads at Mount Rushmore look like a walk in the park. We are dreaming big. I would advise for all to experience this "Clean Across America" Campaign next year if you can swing it. If your not a member of the PWNA you can still do it with us or do it on your own to better your community. Also the marketing on this is priceless.

I took this off another bb. Thought it was interesting especially for the newer folks in bb land. http://home.comcast.net/~benbrausen/Funny/Posting.swf

LOL. I failed the bb test. :)

So did anyone here ever join this organization and if so how is it?? http://www.internationalclnrs.com/ I just emailed the administrator there and popped a few questions for them.
-
Oops. I'm out of the loop.

One of the trailers I have is a Hydrotek trailer and its well built but like Scott is saying there is no room to store any extra items except for a gas can or two. I to would suggest you buy a trailer that fits your needs unless of course you come across such a good deal that you can't pass it up..like I did with the hydrotek trailer.

I just bought this truck on ebay. Its a beaut with a ton of miles. Even with all these miles the trucks average book value is almost $26,000 because of the 24 valve diesel cummins engine and just about every option that DODGE offers for a truck like this. I won it for $14,600. For $99 bucks I had a 150 point inspection done to it thru ebay and it came out great.Red is also the color of my two other trucks so this will go nice with them.Flying to Michigan Tuesday morning to pick it up. So what do you think?? Is it a gamble that you would take on buying a truck like this?? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4557100282

Tony, Thanks for the offer and I wish I had time to take you up on it. I will be in Detroit at 11:15 am Tomorrow then from there its about an hour drive to the place where my truck is. Then we have to get the title then I'm on the road to get back here ASAP because I have a couple of jobs booked for The next morning. Your a good guy and I hope to meet you again in the future.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BETH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still have the RED bucket truck. That truck is money in the bank. Since my 3 trucks are now RED my father thinks that deep down inside I wish I was a fireman :)

In NY you have to charge sales tax for a service rendered. I don't know why my work can't fall into the Home improvement catagory where it would not be taxable but that is the law of the land here. At 8.75% sales its not cheap.

Chris, Your points are very valid and have not fell on deaf ears. Of a matter of fact where discussing about not even having Certification Boot Camps at the Conventions because they to cut accross so many other classes due to the time it takes to take these Bootcamps. Should we NOT have these Bootcamps during the Conventions?? As for the other classes that is going to be also addressed. Hopefully we'll come up with a better schedule then we had at the past Convention. Speaking about the past Convention it was a success. From what I'm hearing it was the best one yet still we are going to try do better with next years convention.
