  1. who will be next ??

MBryan is not leaving as far as I know. He did post on "***" Hood Business for sale but they are located in GA and MBryan I believe is located out of CA. ALso that business he list for sale was actually put up for sale in 2001. This is my 9th year Powerwashing which I'm starting to think is probably longer then average. I'm having to much fun to walk away............Ok that was a stretch. I should say the Money aint bad which would make it tough for me to walk. I'm in the process of buying a Van to add to my arsenal. I will say this----The instant retirement from Dale Millere made me think a little about maybe I'm spending to much time doing 2 jobs and not seeing my family as often as I like. Then again my family is living pretty good and were all happy so there is no reason to right my ship when its just fine as it is.:)
  2. A big decision but sad one

Best of Luck Dale and I can see your delemma since my work life is similiar to yours. Its tough to work 2 jobs and at times I feel like leaving one of them. Actually I can retire from one and still do the other but its hard to walk away from the $$$. Still like you say family life does come first. What saves my butt is that I can pretty much make my own schedule on my fulltime job so it can work side by side with my Powerwashing job. If I couldn't do this then I probably wouldn't be in business today. Still your decision is a wise one and that can only be respected by us that do hold down 2 jobs. Also we all know that the more you make the more you tend to spend so sometimes you think "What is the point". It takes guts to do what you did and for that I tip my hat to ya. Best of luck and drop by once in awhile if you wan't to see what the old gang is up to. Take care...........
  3. Happy Birthday Rod!

Happy b-day Rod and many many more. We just need them to slow down a little because they sure come up fast. Have a cold one better yet have a glass of fine Merlot with your wife and enjoy your day..........
  4. Movin' On.

Jon, Even though I never met you I feel like I know you. I've read many of your post and exchange a few IM's and e-mails with you. I consider you a friend and an inspiration to all in the Powerwashing field. I was just talking about you the other day to a friend of mine. I was telling him that you are a young 60 and still kicking butt in the Powerwashing field. I am 43 and I'm hoping that I will have the strength and the will power to continue onward when I reach.....50 So you my friend are and always will be an inspiration to me to continue onwards. Best of luck with your health issues and where ever you decide to move to. Stay in touch if you can by dropping in on these bb's from time to time. Your friend, John T.
  5. Extendawand

Here's my response about Steve that I left on a different bb. Even though I like the Extenda wand I to am disappointed in the way Steve handles his customer service. Awhile back my Extenda wand parts broke. I called Steve a few times but he never returned my calls. So I then Notified Beth from See Dirt Run about my problem and she wen't out of her way to contact him. Steve told her that he would take care of my problem free of charge except for the shipping. SO what happens?? Steve sends me my parts and hits me up for around $35 or so. Ok.....He went against his word by charging me but at least I got my parts......Now the new problem I am having is that I glued these parts together but that didn't work. Now I hear that Steve won't return his calls to tell us what Kind of Epoxy Glue he recommends to fix these parts. I still say that the Wand is a good one but the Customer Service is about as bad as I seen in the Powerwashing field. I believe that Steve was tipped off that I am a board of director for the PWNA but he still doesn't care. So now I no longer recommend to anyone to purchase his wand. Bad business practice by him as far as I'm concerned.......This is for him [lskjfdjf]
  6. I have to clean a cement style building next Month that is covered with Mold. Thats the easy part to clean but in some spots on this bldg there is rust stains which when I did a sample the Citralic brightner that Beth sells here did a decent job in removing these stains. I like using Citralic because it is relatively safe but does Citralic clean out rust better then or at least as good as Oxalic brightner would?? Thanks
  7. deck stain

I would rate Cabots, Benjamin Moore and Superdecking as the best stains that I use. The worst would be Behr's by far followed by CWF and.....Solid stains...
  8. Happy Birthday Jon!!!!!!

Happy b-day Jon. Nothing like going out to dinner and getting great food with great service. Sounds like your day was aces!!!
  9. Commercial flat work cleaning this would be an awesome set-up to have 11+gpm. I have two hot water machines that would be about 10gpm if I hooked them together. I still think about it at times but I just can't find the time to even try it since when I have time off I vegged with the family. Something to keep pondering about at least for me :)
  10. Pwma

Interesting. You should post this also on PWNA bb to see what some members think. Its seem a little to close for comfort kind of thing.
  11. Birthday Lady

Happy B-day Beth and many many many more. Your a class act with a capital A. You were also wish a Happy b-day on PWN bb.
  12. My 27" hydrotek surface cleaner swivel has decided to spin at a very slow spead. Can this swivel be rebuilt or do I have to purchase a new one?? Also who sells parts/swivels for Hydrotek??
  13. No I havent had the 27" fixed yet because I've been to busy. I've been using my backup 30" big guy from elite. Don't know when I can drop the other surface cleaner off for repairs. Maybe in a few weeks. ITs nice to have a decent backup to cover problems like this.
  14. Newbie Question

Yes Buy the X-jet. You won't be disappointed. I'll give you a few quick reasons why I would buy that x-jet. First off the x-jet will let you put on the chemicals that your using at a 2 to 1 ratio. Another words every 1 part of water that is coming out of your wand it is mixed with 1 part of chemical that you have your x-jet hooked into. Usaully the chemical injectors that your have with your powerwashers will at best only do about 7-1 ratio and that is usually not strong enough to do the hard core cleaning. Another reason is lets say your using bleach in your chemical mix with the x-jet the bleach never touches any other part of your exuipment like your powerwashing hoses, Wand etc. because it goes thru its own hose and out of the x-jet. THis saves your brass couplers, hoses etc. from rotting away which can be costly after awhile. Another reason is when you are running chemicals with your chemical injector there is still alot of unused chemical in your hose when you switch tips on your wand and this chemical will be wasted if you don't gage it right. With the x-jet when you don't need anymore chemical you just disconnect it right at the wand. The x-jet is one of those tools that you should not be without...I wish I knew this when I first started 9 yrs ago. For all I know there wasn't even an x-jet made back then.
  15. Just took a little elbow grease.
  16. police problems

Rick G, That was to funny. Seinfeld grow up around 45 minutes from me and his sense of humor reminds me of my home boys. He cracks me up.....as does Ray Ramano (Everybody loves Raymond). Not only are the balloons running rampant here they are also now doing butt implants if you can believe it. They need to put some helium in them so we can get some more parade floats:)
  17. police problems

Maybe the Cop was videotaping because there might have been a rash of Burglaries recently in that area. Where I work Solicitation is illegal and yes you COULD be summons for it. Ignorance won't help. In the future find out what the local laws are so you won't have to fight the law. It's like the Clash Song went.."I fought the law and the law won". One fast thing also where I work there is no parking anywhere in the streets and if a homeowner wants to have a party and they want people to park in street they will have to get a permit. SO another easy target for people who are soliciting is to summons there car that maybe parked in the street.....and it could also be impounded. These are the laws and the people make them. So find out what you can and can not do when going to differnet towns to conduct business.
  18. My local distributer sells Miracle wiz as a gutter cleaner. IT comes in liquid form and you just put a little of it in a 5 gallon bucket then dip in your brush and wipe it on the gutters. This is after you wet the gutters first. Don't let the cleaner dry on the gutters. Then just rinse off the gutters and see the difference. I believe Miracle Wiz is basically a stripper which leads me to think that HD-80 could also be used as a gutter cleaner when mixed at a lower rate then usual.
  19. Ditto to what Rodney said above. The Chemical I use is Miracle Wiz from Hotsy that my local distributer sells for around $48 for 5 gal. in liquid form. Also like Tony said I won't consider cleaning a house without cleaning the external part of the gutters and also shutters. This is noted on all of my estimate sheets.
  20. I powerwashed this house the other day and with my bucket truck it cut my job time down substantially. I probally saved at least 4 hours because of this truck and it made the job fun....well almost fun.
  21. When bucket trucks come in handy

They wanted me to stain it but I told them I no longer stain houses. I recommended a few people for them to see if they would stain it. I've been so busy Powerwashing this year along with doing deck jobs that staining houses is out of the picture. I may do them again in the future.....
  22. Hooking two machines together

If 2 powerwashers are hooked together do they have be rated the same gpm,psi or both??
  23. If price is no object I would give her a price that includes cleaning/stripping along with the staining. As we all know in this business prep work is numro important and tell her that. IF she still says no to the cleaning then she is a nut case because she made it clear that price is no object. Also I would call her instead of wasting more valuable time going over to her house again to try to close the deal. Good luck
  24. How long is the HD-80 stripper good for after it is mixed?? Same question for the Brightner.
  25. What if you stored a mixed solution of HD-80 overnite in an opened 5 gal bucket? Same question for the Brightner. The reason why I'm Asking these questions is because this week I stripped the largest deck that I do. It took me 20 hrs to complete the stripping and Brightening. After the first 10 hr day I had some premixed stripper and brightner left over. Aprox 3 gallons each. The next day I just dumped those 3 gallons and made a new batch to be on the safe side. I wish I didn't forget my Digital camara when I was doing this job. The deck was aprox 80'x80' with some walls that looked just like the floor. There was also a pool house attached to this deck that was done to. To make matters even worse the back end of this deck was 2 stories high since the property sloped downwards. A true Monster that was beautifully built by the Home owner and his sons.
