  1. John, these girls are the reason you take a stand and protect your right to make a living!

    Great pics!

you know Tony you and I always get along as I do with Ron even though on the net we can look like shizz birds and I agree with you that you should take a stand to make a living but at what cost?? I can go as hard as you can, Chris can and many other can but when you turn it up many notches to get to that level.... is it really worth it?? Is it worth it to go pedal to the metal day in and day out? I have an internal fight in here on the net and its ugly.. Knowing what I know today whether I was right or wrong.... its not worth the fallout and the hurt that comes from it.. its not.

I can't now.. but I will fix a bridge that broke in here hopefully by next week because I am soooooooo burnt out I can't deal with it now.. and over something that was just a difference of an opinion blows up.... and for what??

These fights to me are just not worth it. Take the fight to city hall or wherever you have to go but to keep doing it mainly after one person its seems like such a waste of time and it makes everything around the fight negative. Then when it grows friendships can get fractured. Been in to many of those. In real life its worth it most of the time to go out and make a difference if you can but here on the net to rant and rave forever and ever.. its all like a broken record.

Thanks for the compliments on my family... you have a loving and beautiful family yourself.. do you really think they want you to fight and argue on the net all the time?? Lets knock down walls Tony. EPA walls. Code enforcer walls.. but knocking someones block of here on the net.... really doesnt do anything but just gets people disgusted and the esculation it can cause and then the fallout afterwords... it only ended up causing division and for what?? Nothing

  2. And the one that means everything to me--My wife Kathy... These are the most important people in my life and when I go out and have a rough day or just a brutal day visiting the net... I always look forward to getting back home to.....my girls.

Believe me when I tell you its all horse shizz when us fellow powerwashers fight over stuff when in reality we all should be helping one another to the best of our abilities... but I know I am just as guilty as the next guy in some of these disagreements but its not worth losing good freinds over it... I have some more fences to mend with some of the people who have "Earned" the respect so thats my goal for next week.. and thru it all we all have loving families that you can turn your beatin down spirit to that will brighten you right back up...

  3. Dan McCown Known as McMoo on these bulletin boards who was tragically killed along with his wife in a head on collision with a drunk back in 2007 has not been forgotten. Don Phelps from the roof cleaning business based out of Florida sent these stickers out to many he had made for Dan who was his friend and a friend of ours on the net.

The sticker is fading but is still on my truck. Another truck I sold I left the sticker on there for the rememberance of Dan.

He may be gone.. but for some of us he has not been forgotten.

  4. First of what type of Budget are you on to start out with? It would be good to have a hot water machine to be used when your need some deep cleaning and gum popping on concrete for example. But those machines aren't cheap.

At the very least for residential cleaning I would suggest a 4gpm Belt driven 3000psi cold water Powerwasher with a 5.5 gpm being a more preferable choice but will cost more of course. On the first Powerwasher I would get around a 20" surface machine for it but nothing bigger. The second one which would be the prefered choice a 24" surface machine would work perfectly.

  5. Today was about as draining and trying day I had in years. My wife had to drive me to jobs and estimates so I can close out an Internet mess...

But if you believe in the Ying and the Yang and Karma... Low and behold an internet bb person that I seen on both *** and TGS has contacted me on something... This is the beauty of looking out for each other. I already thanked that person via email and privately he knows who he is and I want him to know I appreciate him looking out for another contractor in this field. This is the beauty of connecting. The political stuff is what it is... But we all should look out for one another. I know Beth has found this to happen to others in the past and she notified them of it. I also remembering this happening to the ***** treasurer John Orr in the past and we notified him of it...

This person who hit me up on the email is a poster on these bb's and I can't thank him enough. I already contacted this company to rectify this ASAP. And will see what happens. It's not every day that I call Maui where I have been and it's beautiful but sometimes you have to look out for each other here, on *** or any other bb that you frequent to help a fellow power washer who this could happen to... And this is called good karma.

Take a look and see if you can see what the problem is... And would you do what the guy did who notified me? This is what I love about that's good where we help each other.

    Take a look.

  6. Scott do not use muriatic acid on that because the risk is to great. You can carve(etch) that concrete like a Christmas tree if your not careful. Is that a salt water or chlorinated water pool? If it's just the typical chlorinated pool did you try doing a spot with liquid(chlorine) which is 2.5x the strength of regular bleach? I'm only saying this because if it's a regular pool they shock them with liquid Chlorine. If your saying bleach and Oxilic acid is't working then you can step it up a notch with liquid chlorine which won't hurt the pool if it gets in there..

I can't tell with my I Pad but is that like tree sap or just stains on the concrete?

  7. It is a 14,500 gvw but I did vet gas and a nice fiberglass bed that will be great with the chemicals. Since I got the gas and the light bed it can hold around 8300 pounds on the bed. We only put 8,000-10,000 miles a year on them. Just got my machines and will show some pics. I need to figure out were to put it all?

Real cool. Can't wait to see the pics. I bet that truck turns on a dime. What is the height from the ground to the top of the cab? My F550 Flatbed is about 78" to top of the cab which is about as high as I can go to get into some garages. The truck with a 14' aluminum flatbed weighed in at 6800lbs and has a GVWR of 17500lbs. Figure with people in the cab the truck can hold about 10,500lbs. The two water tanks on the truck together are about 900 gallons and when full weigh about 7800lbs and between the burners and washers along with gas tanks and hose and hose reels where sitting with a full load of about 9500-10,000lbs and with the trailer we are probably at or very near the Full capacity of 25900 lbs which includes towing weight... And the truck still runs like a charm.

We don't usually drive the truck full of water except for maybe one tank because the two pressure washers on it total over 19gpm and they can go thru a tank of water in no time.. With all this the truck still gets around 10-11 mpg..

    Got to love the flatbeds:)

  8. Hi John, honestly will take either one. I prefer the CAT but at this point will take the nicest one I can find. Some may think overkill but I am looking to be able to carry at least 1500 gals of water when I need to. We do a decent amount of commercial (not including fleet washing) and large residential work where water is limited. Especially when running 2, 9 GPM's and 2 to 3, 6 GPM machines at once. It becomes EXTREMELY time consuming when you are trying to fill tanks from only one or if lucky 2 hose bibs. Most of my Orange County work is all well water. In my opinion time is money!!! If I can save a couple of hours by not having to keep refilling tanks, I will take it. I will absolutely post pics!!!

David Olsen who just recently passed away had some killer trucks. I use to correspond with him alot when I was going thru my propane stage. He had a neat business and his trucks were very efficient with heaters, large tanks etc. He use to show alot of us his trucks via the net. Real cool to see stuff like that and get some idea's from it.

With him nothing was overkill. It's like you said time is money. His system was made to make the optimum amount of money in the least amount of time.

Good luck with finding and building the best setup possible. That is a fun and sometimes frustrating challenge.

  9. Just got a brand new Isuzu 14 foot flatbed. How would you set it up? I have to get 3 power washers a udor roof pump and 5 hose reels. Also 600 gal. Water tank. 125 gal. Chem tank and 50 gal. Roof mix tank?

Since your setting up your truck with a roof cleaning set-up on it I would make sure the bed is well protected. Aluminum bed would be my first choice and if you don't have that I would put a good cover of a linex type coating over the bed. Chlorine is so corrosive and it will find a way to leak on the bed of the truck. Can't wait to see your finished set-up.

    Good luck.

  10. Brian congrats on your new flatbed. What is the GVW?? Not sure by you but have to be careful with weight. HEAVY fines for being overweight. In the process of getting an F650 now with 24' box. Have a 2007 LCF 55 with 18' box we use for FW'ing, 16' enclosed trailer for res/comm work. Going to make the big truck mine and turn trailer into extra water tank/recovery trailer. Lots of plans!!!

Cool stuff Tom. If you ever post pics they would be cool to see. The F650 is some truck. Which engine comes with the 650 your looking at? I seen them with the Cummins engine which is a great engine and same with the caterpillar engine.

To bad Diesel is going thru the roof but I still wouldn't go heavy duty anything without a Diesel truck at the helm.

My F550 7.3 liter flatbed drives like a charm and is strong as heck. It can hold alot of weight and also pull a shizz load. The only drawback with the Ford is the turning radius.. It bites.

  11. I also have an account with Nest where I take about a 7% cut to have money owed directly deposited in my business acct within a week from doing a job. We have to call in the work orders at the Jobsite phone and then close them out by cell phone when completed. If we can't call the work order in because the place may have closed already we can use our cell phone. There very efficient.... And they work for us but might not be for everybody.

  12. This show went down last night. We had a blast. Most of the artist that signed on to show up did and some extra's came as last minute surprises. I'll post pics of some of the celebs that showed up such as Richie Cannata who was Billy Joel's sax player. Man that guy can jam and to here it close up in a pub background was for music lovers a dream. Good stuff.

  13. I have to get my thoughts together along with a bunch of pictures to this Fundraiser we did last night. I have some really cool pictures. This whole thing was a kicking party. This picture here is of Sean Young who was aces. She was a star back in the 80's. There's a good industry story in here which will take time to disseminate. But most importantly the Charity my brother inlaw did was not only a success... it was a blast. To see Richie Cannata Billy Joel's sax player jam up close in a pub.. that was sweeeet.

  14. We have a variety of units from 2009 to as old as 1989. After following Jerry's "bulletproofing" instruction we've had none of the little problems that plagued us before.

I wish he had a class on how to bulletproof and aerial lift!

I'll give you one way to bullet proof an Ariel lift Tony but you probably don't deal with these issues. Rinse it down after using Chlorine mixtures all day long. My bucket truck and especially my trailer now is getting eating alive due to Chlorine. That chemical is the best for residential cleanings but is as corrosive as heck with just the gases alone from it.

  15. Bobby Hull drank all night at a house I lived in with a couple of other guys . Non of us where into hockey but

all jocks. I think he liked us because we didn't believe him and kept saying your a figure skater?

lol .. the Golden Jet was awesome. Then his hair fell out and he was still great even with the rug he ended up putting on top of his dome. Thats cool you met him. He had that banana stick that could unload his shot well over 100mph at goalies that wore no mask. Good thing he liked you guys. He was a strong MF. Not only was he fast he had probably the hardest shot in the history of the game. If he played during the Gretsky era like his son Brett did he would have scored a 1000 goals easy which I think he did if you count the WHA with the Hanson brothers.... The geeks that wore the glasses in the Movie Slap Shot that would beat the heck out of guys.. Man I loved that game.. Picture Bobby Clarke missing his teeth. His style to do anything to win is what I liked the best. He has Diabeties and nothing could stop him. The only guy who trumped Bobby Clarke in my day was the greatest who ever played the game and is my idol as..... Number 4.... any Guesses Jimbo???

I think I'm hijacking this thread because of the word passion...

Find your passion within your business and it makes it all that much more rewarding to go along with paying the bills and giving your family the support they need.

  16. I'll second that. This may sound crazy but in talking to someone the other night they asked me was I ever extremely passionate about any one thing in life that it was so dominating at all... and yes I did have that but it's forever gone.

It was Hockey. I played every type of Hockey imaginable including playing in multiple leagues at one time. I also had probably the first fully sponsored street hockey turned Deck hockey team when I was a kid in my area. We were a power house in Deck hockey, Run a way in street hockey, good with Roller hockey, dominant in our schools floor hockey league, played on my HS varsity Ice Hockey team the same time I played on 3 other league ice hockey teams.

I also did this with a few other guys.. In street hockey we were kings but that didn't mean much, Deck hockey alot of guys on my team that was sponsored played in Boston for the national championships and lost 2-1(i was supposed to be on that team but I was disqualified for that all-star team For fighting with the owner of the rink we played at). My goal there was to beat the greatest deck hockey & street hockey player in history Doug Hauser but blew it with my suspension. Roller hockey we were OK and the only guys I knew that became stars from that were the Mullen brothers from Hells Kitchen NY. Joey Mullen scored over 500 goals in the NHL and I was tracking him thru sports illustrated in the 70's. Floor hockey meant nothing but we always won.. The problem was ice hockey. That game I was about as passionate as one could be. I followed the stars thru the "hockey news" and knew about Wayne Gretsky since he was 10-11.. That game we played whenever and wherever we could. Frozen Ponds at midnight, Long island Arena where the ducks played...anywhere. Problem was even though we were getting good at it you can't start ice hockey at 13 and expect to "Make it". But me and my closest friends felt we could.. Winning house league championships and leading HS school in scoring for 2 of the 3 yrs I played for them means squat and reality hit me at the end of my Junior yr.... I stopped playing Ice first and then 2-3 yrs later stopped playing any Hockey all together. For kicks I played a couple of deck hockey league games in my 20's, 1 or 2 games in my 30's and one game in my 40's and got hurt but still scored...

I want to see if I can score one goal in my 50's now to keep my streak of scoring at least a goal in some type of organized hockey for 4 decades but bum knee will probably end that.

Still could kick butt in knock hockey, bobby hull hockey, sports places boo button hockey.. But really lost the real passion when I skated off my school hockey team in 11th grade because reality hit like a brick. My parents were happy because they always said it affected my school grades but that passion to me was special.

If only my friends in that click and myself started like 10 yrs younger with Ice because that game counts.

But like Ron says(sorry for the long boring story) I like this industry also. I'm passionate towards it to see people succeed including myself.

Time is flying by so yes Money is great but what drives you to be passionate where you can really enjoy what you do??

That is what I'm after and I dream high like I did with Hockey as a kid. Do I shoot to high?? Maybe. (scored twice but hit the post 3 times with high shots in HS playoff game that we lost).Time will tell but the question is am I having fun being passionate towards something... YES. Will I succeed because it takes a ton of drive?? Possibly, but it's dependent on so many others which is why like in Hockey I had good players with me that enjoyed it as much as I did and those memories--PRICELESS-- which money could never buy.

  17. John, New York and Maryland are not that far apart. This summer sometime you guys should come down and we could all meet on the eastern shore and sit down and eat crabs.

    Beth

Consider that done. By then I should have a nice story to tell... I do have a strong committee and wait to you here what came up by one of them down the road... nothing said until it's set in stone and allowed by the staff... But this one is sweet.

  18. Congrats on your new found "freedom" - you've earned it! Now bring your wife and family down this way to visit :)

I consider that an invite.. your now on my list of people to see in there own backyards before I call it a career so I can take all these great memories with me... and NO I wont be sneaking pics of the fence at ya... you'll know where coming.. my door for you and Roger is always open for one or the both of you if you ever come up to ripoff Island. Just gas up in NJ first because my Island likes to rip people off with astromincal taxes.. in sane.

  19. I owe you a big night out on the strip John! Come on out!

Hey Tony I'll be there one day and yup we'll hang. Your good people even though on the net we look like mortal enemies..lol

Quick cop story for ya.. Like an idiot around 5 am yrs ago when I was driving at a high rate of speed with my 86 ford mustang Gt convertible 5.0L I was dragging a thunderbird on the expressway and we shot right past highway PD. It was to late so the other guy kept going and I gunned it way down because I saw the PD lights come on from a distance.

There was no doubt in my mind he was going to come after us and probably never likely to catch us but it was stupid and he was a fellow brother so I pulled over and waited for him to drive up on me which he did.

He went over the PA and told me to turn my interior lights on and hands up against the windshield which I did.

He walks over to the car and he now says to get my license. I reach in and get out my PD ID card and I admit it was stupid which is why I pulled right over after passing him... So what does he do??

He takes my PD ID card which is as big of a burn to lose as loosing your gun or shield and he calls me a rookie piece of shizz and proceed to throw my card out into the expressway. I couldn't believe it. He now gets in his car and drives off and says the same thing over the PA system.

So there I am out in the middle of the expwy which is not far from the city and I'm trying like crazy to find my ID card.

It takes me at least 20 minutes to find it all the while running off the road when cars came by.

The next day I was so burned up by this even though I know what I did was wrong that I went into the Union office and told this story. They want the car# and they'll track him down and they said what I did was wrong but that guy should not be allowed to be a cop because of what he did so they wanted his name..

I worked in the boro where every boss and there mother was and in the future the NYPD union President who is still the Union President today who is Patty Lynch who only had a yr on the job then more then I did.

I was mad as heck but as much as they asked me I couldn't give up this guys name and I already new it because I already found it out..

The end result is I got this guy back in a way you may do it as if it was some one else that wasn't a cop and no I did not kick his arz because he was just a huge dude.. But I got him..

After that time Patty Lynch decided to run for a union delegate and a bunch of us "young" guys gave out pens in his name... Patty darn near won. He lost to the Union delegate who at that time had 24 yrs doing that job but the vote in our precinct was like 120-115 range. It was very close.

Soon after that I left the city but that experience got me very interested in Union life. The ability to support good cops and leave the bad cops out there on there own to defend themselves is what interest me the most. To support the ones you believe in.

Today Patty has been the president for at least 15 yrs in a Dep't of 40,000 cops and I ended up in fantasy island supporting just 10 people who are like family..

Now you see a bit of what worked for me.. Which probably is not your typical way of doing things.. Right there with being a small union head and a business org executive board of director at the same time.. How's that for a mix bag of worms:)

And Tony I was wrong for speeding. I had my fair share of tickets before I became a cop but not enough to disqualify me.. But being from the inside like I did when I was involved with org stuff in the PW industry the majority of people are good people... But in the cop world it would take just 1 or 2 bad cops that made it tough for the rest of us and the impression which your seeing is that because of these bad cops the other cops are no better.

What you never saw is what my uncle dealt with. He was a boss in a different PD IAD department and he dealt with many cops who gave up the bad cops and he also dealt with the scumbag cops who gave up other bad cops because they were already caught.... So there is that side of the law that the public never see's.

One of the cops that my uncle personally locked up for shaking down drug dealers and then selling there garbage received 8 yrs in jail which the cop decided to do it serving in with the main population just to show that he was not going to be intimidated.... Well that story every bunch of years comes to light in the papers.

K that's that. Now you know.
