I too am looking at installing a Float ball valve in my 325 gallon tank to cut off at a the 200 gallon mark. Do any vets have a picture they could post showing the installation? I would be very greatful. DeGraffreed -
Hey, Here is where my (newbiness, ), if that is a word, comes in. I have and implemented the Tennis ball method. 1.It really frees up your hand grip on the wand, decreasing hand cramps, 2. I have had my helper Pull on the hose when I was not looking and the wand fell out of my hand and the tennis ball pop out and cut of the water follow. 3. Cost Effective also. 4. I have them on four guns and my Surface cleaner. DeGraffreed I will recommend the tennis balls on a small string.

Hello to All. I am new member (my 1st anniversary is 3-20-05), I just read this entire thread, and all I can say is WOOOOOWWWWW. I just attended a round table in Atlanta in the past two weeks and called to get my PWNA application to join from Cujo. Now after hearing what is going on.... I plan on holding off to get a better understanding of the decision to keep out the non members. I never went to the PWNA site anyhow, I love Beths board and can get all the info and question answered here when I need them. This is a top notch outfit. After attending the roundtable and hearing all the good things that the PWNA could do for my business. I wanted to expand my knowdlege base of the industry and fork over $195.00 to be a member but now seeing how they treated or shut down the access for non members, tells me maybe this is not the way to proceed at this time. Beth, Please continue the good work on your board because it will be the site I continue to visit on a daily basis. Oh before I end this post... all I have to say is " You cannot miss what you did not have". I think PWNA just lost a potential member. All you non members, you can still be successfull without the PWNA with lots of hard work and by continuing to visist this site. I love ya Beth and Rod with out this site being here when pressure washing was just an idea, I would have not gotten into the Business. Kudo's DeGraffreed Atlanta,GA

To those vets with lots of experience. When doing residential house washing, do you remove all the screens before you clean the homes or do you have the homeowners remove them before the start of the job. Also why do you suggest removing the screens anyhow? I seems that the water while going thru the screens will still drain from the sill. Could someone give me the pro and cons of this topic. Thanks CCP and others that post. DeGraffreed

General Info Site about starting a PW Business
Degraffreed replied to Joshua Sweat's topic in Business Topics & Tips
I second that CCPC. Go for it Joshua. DeGraffreed -
Gymrat, My thoughts exactly. I have done about 30 homes last season and not one person complained about any dirt left behind. I only do quality work and if this is something I need to do then I will start today on removing the screens. It not that much of a headache anyhow to do this. Degraffreed

SPV, does not removing the screens have a impact on the window not getting cleaned during the housewash? Degraffreed

Thanks, SPV Degraffreed

Looking for unbiased equipment opinions ?
Degraffreed replied to Michael Nardoni's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I agree with Scott, Delco is in my opinon the best setup for the value. Get an enclosed trailer it can serve as a "Rolling Billboard", plus you equip is out of the elements. DeGraffreed -
Hello to all. Beth, What do you consider "Low Pressure"?.I hear of contractor on the board using low pressure. I normally use about 1500 psi. I do vary the distance to the surface when I am cleaning or rinsing windows. Do not want to break them even with 1500psi. DeGraffreed

Dodge Ram 2005 hemi 5.7 1500. First truck pull 7x14 trailer not issue as of yet. May look at 2500 next year. Can not seem to spend 38,000 on a truck. DeGraffreed -
I am looking to spend a day with someone in the local Atlanta, Ga area within a 50 mile radius, that would willing to trade Mine and my Helpers labor for on the job training in deck cleaning, sealing, striping, nuetralizing, basic deck restoration. Housewashing techniques using the xjet or your way. I have read and heard of vets doing 1500-2000 sqft home including gutters in 1.5-2 hours. Just trying to cut down on my cleaning time here. I have done about 25 homes this year and I am looking to see what I can learn from a vet that can help decrease my time on my housewashing. I have my own rig if needed. I want to be the best I can be and continue to give my customers great quality work. I am going to add deck staining to my services and have read so much that I prefer to do it on job training if someone is willing to teach me. The only requirement is at least a two day notice and weekend work only. I still have my nine to five.'>) Yep, a part timer looking to go full time soon. Pam, Wait a minute, Hold on ther and slow down. I did call you and Cujo if my memory was correct about 9:30 pm or 10:00 pm that Saturday night and stated that I was willing to trade services with you. I waited till about 12:30 am for a return call from you. Your voicemail picked up the earlier call, ( I know it was late but I had spent some time with my family that had flew in from Indiana and was out late Saturday), according to the last e-mail that you sent to me, you stated that it was some strip mall or park that you were going to clean and that water supply was approx. 200FT away from the parking area.. I assumed since you did not call me back that it was to late for me to help out. I did not have 200ft of water hose extra, and was willing to stop at wally world on the way to Conyers..to pick up extra hose. You did not leave me a physical addresse in order to meet you there via telephone or e-mail. I am a person of my word and I at this time DO Apologize to you for any inconvience that occured out of this misunderstanding. I just wished we had of communicated via telephone versue e-mail, which I do not check everyday. Again I am Sorry for you having to work late on this project and I understand your feelings on renewing your offer and I will accept that. I will see you on Saturday. Again I DO APOLOGIZE IN FRONT OF THE ENTIRE BB..... I AM SORRY...... DeGraffreed

Contractor Coach Does anyone have the "Contractors Coach" powerwashing video of housewashing related videos that they no longer needs and would like to sell? Is their Video's quality better than those from XXXXXXXXXX?. Looking to purchase at a fair price. I saw their website and the price for the entire set. I do not need all the literature, just the video on housewashing techniques that I can view with my helper to understand the process better. Call me.678-480-0123 Degraffreed.Contractor Coach

Squirt, Where can you purchase Purple Power. I have searched for it at lowes and HD and they both do not carry it. Can I look for it at a auto store such as Nape, Autozone? is GutterZap really as good as the say. Right now I spend way to much time on gutters. i use White Lightning and Limolene, hot water. It seems once it dwell on the gutter for about 5 min it "melts" right off. I would like to spray and rinse if possible and cut my time spent on cleaning them. DeGraffreed

Jeff, I am planning on attending this weekend. Do people pull there rigs to these events or not? Degraffreed

I too have ordered product from epec. It was d-limolene. Housewash mixture that was to be used in order not to have to utilize Bleach. This stuff was terrible. I spent about one hour on two sides then decided to used bleach and completed the other sides in half the time. I agree with Beth, this stuff did not budge the mildew until I was approx. right up against the siding before I started to see results. I too thought I was the only one that called epecs for info about their chems and no one EVER was availible to provide that info other that the lady taking the orders. I purchased chems from them because their about 1.5 hours from my location. But I am considing looking elsewhere for my products. I ordered a 36" wand last week and the lady sent me a 36' wand only. I wanted the wand with the black insulator on it, which I asked for. The lady said I was responsible for sending it back on my dime, then pay the additional cost for the right one. I have no issues with paying the new cost, but why make me pay to send it back, when they inputed the wrong product number in. Does anyone know of a good distributor in the metro Atlanta area that cares about it customers and have good products? Degraffred

lou, listen up. I too was in your shoes the first of last year. I kept saying to myself, I was only going to spend $5000.00 to start this business. I researched this bb and delcos, pwn and decided to go to the Delco school back in Feb 04, from reading all post for about 4 months I decided to dive in. I took my bonus check and purchased a 14ft inclosed trailer, bought a 2004 dodge ram 1500 w/hemi, always wanted the truck but found a reason to purchase for the business writeoff, Called delco and set up 5 day powerwashing school to learn the ins and out to powerwashing, even went out with different contractors the entire week. My truck only had about 400 miles on it. Went to fitzgerald, ga to pick up trailer. One week later pulled trailer to Fort Worth, Tx and had everything installed while I was going to school. Friday came my trailer was ready to go. I spent about $7000.00 before heading back to GA. The one choice I am glad I made was to get into this business. I have done approx. 40 residential and first restuarant, and I owe it to research and just going for it. Now I have everything on the trailer I need and my business name on my trailer. In affect a ROLLING BILLBOARD. This year was my learning year and I still have much to learn But you can learn on the way to the top. Quit procrastinating and JUST DO IT. You will need room as you grow and the equipment to do any job that comes to you. So go ahead and have room for growth and stop looking at $5000.00 as a starting point. I dont think it is possible to get into this bus and be competitive with that price range. I have pic of my rig. If someone can tell me how to post it here on the board, from my digital camera. Just go for IT ....... No Risk No Reward. Degraffreed
