Is there a trick?
Little Buddy posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Is there a trick to make the stripper stick to horizontals? I'm using F-18 and it seems to be working excellent on the floor but isn't as effective on the spindles and such because it does stick. Thanks for any input. -JL -

Just got a email request today and replied with the figure and got the job...that was easy. This is the first really house wash i will be doing and they say there is some mildew on one side of the house, this shouldn't be a problem with downstreaming regular house wash mix right?????? Let me know what you think. Thanks, JL

Thanks, so i take it the boosted hd-80 (or any other stripper) doesn't work all that well if you just jump to the stripper cream right away. Lets say the homeowners just wanted to change the color, how would you go about preping the surface to apply a solid acrylic? THanks, JL -

Rick, I was reading some older post about the acrylic competition and was wondering what do you use currently for nasty paint and acrylic jobs? After doing a couple decks i jumped back on here and learned about boosting the stripper and now using a surfactant to make that crap stick and do its thing. Its amazing how much you can learn from the forms in a year but it still amazing to see how much i still don't know lol. Thanks, JL -

I think we mostly have cedar and PTP over here, gotta love menards. Also, rick what is your answer to make the stripper stick to the railings? -
How much did it cost you to start?

Stripping Paint?
Little Buddy posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Just got another estimate request, let me know what you think... Hi Joe, I appreciate the response. I've attached a few photos of the deck, and the condition of the paint. It is very flaky as you can tell. I snapped photos of some of the rougher parts although there are some areas where all the paint is in tact. We powerwashed it with our air compressor when we moved in, but this is still what it looks like. The compressor is not a commercial grade by any means. The deck is 12x12 or so and has two bench seats on it. Ideally, we'd like the picnic table stripped as well. Thanks for taking a look. If you have any local references, please let me know. Based on that, let me know what you think... -

Thanks Mike, That price was for a regular restoration so i doubled that figure. She emailed me back and basically said we dont have the money at the time so we are just going to wait. -
Stripping Paint?
Little Buddy replied to Little Buddy's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
so do you even use strippers on paint jobs? Just use the sander? I was coming up with a number around $455 with the numbers she gave for a regular restoration. Would you tack on addition 20-30% for the sanding? Thanks, JL -
Stripping Paint?
Little Buddy replied to Little Buddy's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I have never stripped paint before, but was wondering what you guys would charge for such a project. Also, would you use that paste from eacochem or use f18 at 20-25 oz/gal or something else?
