  1. Just curious, how are you going to go about washing the teak (I may have to do mine next year)?
  2. OK, thanks....Messmer's it is
  3. I have some Messmer's for Hardwoods that I plan on using on my ipe deck next spring (deck was laid down this fall). I also have some new teak furniture that will stay outside all year and I'm wondering if I can use the Messmer's product on the teak? If not, what product would you recommend to use on the teak to try and keep some of it's great natural color?
  4. Just wondering what the thought is of sealing the end grain after cutting IPE. The way I understand it, is that this will help stop cracks from developing. What about if the end of the plank is not visible, ie., like the end of the board will later be faced with wood, is it worth while doing it then? If the end of board is left uncovered and visible, and its left untreated, if the the cracks develop, are they deep cracks, or is it more of a visual thing than anything else? What product do you use to seal the end grain with? Is it a stain, varnish, etc.? Cheers...
  5. OK, thanks, much appreciated...
  6. I live in Canada, and my choice is somewhat limited as to what stains I can get up here. So far I can get Messmers and I have also found a place in the States that is willing to ship Defy's product to Canada. This is for my small (200-300 sq. foot) deck that is currently being built, and wondering what the consensus is between these two products. If there is not much difference between the two, I will go with Messmers, just because I can get it locally, but thought I would just open up this can of worms and see what you pros think... :)
  7. Thanks Rod. That's what I expected. Once it has been stained, when it comes time to re-do in 6-12 months, can you just stain over the old stain, or does the old one have to be removed first prior to a new application?
  8. Getting a new IPE deck around our pool and from the house to the interlock, and was wondering if its best to let the IPE weather for a year before using something like defy, or RS?
