  1. Gas and Diesel cans

I've got the self venting jugs aswell. Hated them until I learned how to use them. They empty just fine as long as you don't over tilt it and you must make sure that the nozzle points straight off the can, and not off to the side. 5G jug takes apprx. 3 minutes to empty, at max.
  2. A couple questions from a newbie

Ken that's what I hear...as to weather it's true or not I don't know. I ask my supplier again today, and I remembered correctly. It is 2% for every two weeks.........or 1% per week.......or .5% per 3.5 days...........however you want to look at it.
  3. Business Cell Phone Question

Terry, considering that you are close by, I have to say Metro PCS. They're coverage down here is good and you can't go wrong with unlimited usage for 45 bucks +tax. I pay a lot of money for my cell phone and it would still come out cheaper to have to pay Metro per month and keep my Verizon at a very basic rate.....just incase I drop signal, have to make nationwide long distance calls or when I travel. It's the convenience of not having to worry about going over your alotted minutes.
  4. A couple questions from a newbie

RCBill, make sure you buy chlorine from someone who sells a lot within a short period of time. This will ensure that you're getting your chems at a higher % rate. Chlorine looses apprx. 2% for every two weeks that it sits.
  5. What's your price?

I know the picture does not show everything, but take it for what it's worth and multiply it by 2.The house is almost exactly the same on the other side. I'm curious what you guys would charge for the roof and then I'll tell you the story behind what happened when I quoted them. (I doubt that I'll get the job but then again anything is possible) Don't get too technical with details, just throw out some nubmers. p.s.: now that I'm writing this, my concious is become aware of the signs I should have picked up, from my conversation with the wife on the phone, before I drove out there.
  6. What's your price?

two story home, so it has to be 4000+ Easy
  7. What's your price?

It's cement tile..flat. Have no idea of sq.ft........didn't bother measuring.
  8. What's your price?

Alright! Now that I have a few minutes here's more of the story. "My husband usually does the driveway and stuff but he's too busy right now. We're both licences GCs and are swamped. Plus I don't want him on the roof and the association is bothering us with letters. Can you give me a price on the roof and the two driveways, and as long as your are here please look at the screen enclosure aswell." (this is what I got on the phone today) So I go out and take a look at the house. I quoted her 5.25K for the roof and she almost went throught the roof. Asks me, "Do you do something special? Don't get me wrong, but your just way out there." It turns out that a friend of theirs offered them $450 for the roof and one of my local competitors (I didn't ask who b/c I don't care) quoted $250 for the roof. "....we don't have to pay him until his done and if we're not happy he'll come back as many times as we ask him to." she says, in refrence to the 2.5K guy. "Your not worried about hiring somebody who's selling point is that if you are not happy then I'll come back as many times as needed, until you are satisfied?", I asked her. She shrugged her shoulders and asked me to give her something in writing. End of story. p.s.: tomorrow I'll be in the area.....if I don't forget to take my 200mm lens with me then I'll get some more shot of the property........just b/c
  9. What's your price?

Jon, I hope you didn't misunderstand me. I've already quoted the job so I'm not looking for help with pricing.......I'm simply curious to see what others would charge (based on the little info I was able to get before the sun went down) without me influencing your decision with my price. Water around here is not something that the homeowners are concerned about. I've never run into anyone who was concerned about us using their water. What about noise factor?
  10. house wash pics

You probably just cultivated a lot of business for yourself. Good job.
  11. Happy Mother's Day!

Wanted to be the first to wish, to those of you whom are mothers, a Happy Mothers Day! Hope you have a joy filled day, without work!
  12. water supply question and tip

Ah,,that's bareable. Chicken feed in comparison to the type of money you make in that 21 days. Plus, it's something that you factor into your job quote.
  13. water supply question and tip

You used 40,000 gal of water to wash 165 apartments? At $3.50/gal? And your missing 20,000 gal? Please tell me that I'm misunderstanding something! Or was the 3.50 was your water charge for each apartment?
  14. water supply question and tip

I've thought of getting a meter to simply offer not having to use the customers' water. Make it a selling point for hiring us instead of the competition.
  15. Quick Surface cleaner question

Even if your surface cleaner did get every single spot you would still have to rinse it off the excess water. If you don't then the dirt will settle, the water will dry up and it's dirty again.
  16. Rotary Nozzles

If you can borrow one from a friend and try using with all kinds of situations. I might not have been clear enough but I don't think that it was worth it's price. With only one application it being useful for it's not an essential tool as fas as I'm concerned
  17. Rotary Nozzles

I have an expensive turbo nozzle and have never used it for anything else other than paint stripping.
  18. What's your minimum to turn the key?

Rather then not getting the work, what really bothers me is that most people don't posess enough principals to come out and say 'I'm sorry but I don't wish to spend that much'. I have no respect for those that feel the need to lie in ordert to back out of a situation.
  19. What's your minimum to turn the key?

You'll be suprised when in a month she ends up calling you. It's happened to me on more than one occasion.
  20. A few questions!

If only I was closer to you, I'd be there in a heart beat. It's a shame no one on the board is close enough for me to hang out with them. I'd love to get my hands dirty with some real woodies!
  21. Problems

Boy am I glad to hear that I'm not the only one that's encountered the 'critter' problem. I was starting to think that I was insane. TNTPW....let us know if you're feeding the pump from the tank or from the spigot. Also, try running your pw without the hover attached. Is there a difference?..........you may very well have a clogged your spray tips.
  22. What's your minimum to turn the key?

Within a ten mile radius it's $60. Will not get on a ladder for less than $105 and the minimum will increase based on distance if you leave that 10 mile radius. If a neighbor catches me when I'm next door and wants his driveway or sidewalk cleaned...............well that's a different story.
  23. Celeste, I've been to one of these! Didn't like the setup at all........found it to be too regimented and there was way too much emphasis put on weekly presentations.........written leads for the other companies........etc. I was not impressed at all.
  24. I work for some painters.....at one point they realized that I do a much better job......plus they don't have to get wet and dirty. I get called, by the painter, to give my price on a potential job then they factor it into their proposal. I know them both personally and we like to working together b/c we can rely on eachother.
  25. How many people work for your company?

I'm in the same boat as Alan. For night jobs, and for some commercial I will hire help.
