24" larger surface cleaners
PWkid replied to sflasealcoatinginc's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I love my 28" big guy and my 36" maxima. They work flawlessly. I gave up on floaters when I went to larger gpm machines. These are my opinions only I am sure you will get other opinions from the guys out west. lol -
Kory I was using gates r-2 grey smooth cover. Gates has decided to raise the prices of hose to unbelievable amounts and I have looked high and low for a substitute. I am sure you can find gates hose but bring your wallet. I switched to rough cover grey hose it does get hung up on things when dragging it but for the price I'll deal with it.

No Gary I don't think I need a copy. Steve sure did pick the right man to run his website. lol I would love to find out why in Florida we get sodium hypochlorite for $.99 a gl. Maybe I should by a 1000 gl and take it up to PA and sell it and make a fortune.
-
I still can't get over the spraying Degreaser on shingle roofs Idea That GARY so passionately loves. Oh well to each his own.

Pressure hose anywhere is expensive to buy.

Yea cold water would work but why would try to rebuild an engine with an adjustable wrench when there are much better tools to do the job.

Working Cheap In Tampa
PWkid replied to Apple Roof Cleaning's question in Residential Pressure Washing
We have General Contractors in Vero Beach with 13hp direct drives using a wand doing driveways for $40.00. That is a sad situation. It has gotten that bad around here. I guess people need to do whatever to feed their families. -
Why not try a turbo tip. I'll almost guarentee that if 3500 psi of hot water and good chems won't clean it then nothing will. If you put on a smaller tip, you will bypass the extra water. Your pump and horsepower of your motor will only put out what it is rated for.

Is increasing Price after quote right?
PWkid replied to mobilemike's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Unless you do something more on the job than what was quoted I don't feel it is right. It is kinda like taking your truck in for service and they quote you $ 400.00 for a waterpump and when you pick it up they say well it was harder than I thought so it will be $150 more than what was quoted or there was a special tool I needed to buy and it cost $150.00 more for the tool. IMHO I would break even or lose money than charge more than what was quoted. I am sure if you get the right tools and get the job done right the customer will appreciate it and tell 3 or more people about how professional you were and did an outstanding job. my .02 worth -
The micro switches were going out on the pressure switches. I switched to flow switches and haven't had any problem since other than normal wear and tear. I also use k-7's flow unloaders on all my machines that might be why flow switches work better for me. I don't know why but I have had better luck with flow switches. I never had a problem with thermostats until I had the guy who built my machine rewire it because of corrosion and old wiring he told me he rewired it so the ignitor would only fire when the trigger gun was squeezed. I am not sure how well this works on a 12v system.

Jeff I have been having that problem for a long time. I switched to a flow switch and it works a lot better. I went through 3 thermostats and it is not working as of now. I have to bypass it. I am not sure why, my machine is 9.3 gpm. I have quick connects on my inlet and outlet of my coil, when I am running cold water it doesn't run through '200 of coil.
