  3. Whatever Roberts reasons are there has never been anyone that I have known in this industry who was even close to Roberts Knowledge when it comes to Powerwashing and our Environment. Personally I can't thank Robert enough in helping me understand what the proper procedures are to cleaning thru his tested tried and true BMP's.

Thanks Robert for what you set out to do and what you have accomplished.

    Well said John!

  4. The reason Rockland "MANDATES" you have a license is because back in 2003 a Painter/Pressure Washer was doing a deck job and left his day laborer there to finish. After he left the "Day Laborer" raped and killed the homeowner. I kind of understand why they mandate it now but there fee is outrageous. I do occasional work in Rockland but only for family and friends. HEAVY fines if caught without license.

Is there a police blotter on that or a local news story. That would be a HUGE sales tool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Chad,

Your thinking is the old method of doing things. You really need to get up to speed on whats the better and faster way of doing things if you want to compete in todays market.

Just blasting cold water on something is not really cleaning anything and you risk the chance of damage. Would you clean your body with just cold water? I think not, you would really smell if you did not use some type of soap.

Todays way of doing things is using a good commercial grade soap, chlorine(diluted down to kill mold and algea) and low pressure on the water. If you let the chems do there job, your job will be easier on you and the surface you are cleaning.

If do a search on house washes you will find many ways to make a great one to suit your needs.

I use citracleen, a foamer, rinse aid, wet wax and chlorine in my mix. It works great for my use. Everyone has there special mix that works for them.

    Good luck

    Agreed!

    This Week's YouTube Video Tip

    Are You Tracking Your Efforts?

You can't hit what you do not aim for. You can not see your results unless you track them. A ships captain can not navigate the waters without charts and maps. What makes you think that you can build a successful business without tracking and measuring your efforts?

Listen to this weeks YouTube.com video tip for what AC does in tracking his businesses and how that can be passed on to you.

    Read Along With Us...

I had been told for so many years of my life that "readers are leaders", a fact that I so wanted to ignore. However, after many successful years and creative thoughts even my well began to run dry. If music is the art that stimulates your heart than reading is definitely the tool that stimulates your mind. Most every morning you will find my wife and I enjoying breakfast on our back porch overlooking our creek and enjoying a book together. That is a routine that has changed my life, my marriage and my spirit. I strongly encourage you to read along with us as you grow your business and enrich your life.

E-Myth Mastery is the third book in a four book series by small business guru Michael E. Gerber. It has specific exercises and executable items that you can implement in your life. Items that can be started right away to awaken the passion, creativity and leadership your business needs.

  8. Bad thing is that even after he is gone is that he has placed in the mind of potential customers that $133 is the going price. I call this prostituting the product! So when he is broke and gone you still have to edjucate your customers away from this low ball mentality.

In over 15 years of doing this cleaning thing Ive seen HUNDREDS come and go. It still hurts though.

  9. I think a lot of the things that are known about roof cleaning comes from Mallard.I have seen his name around and actually read a bio about his business.I believe he does deserve some respect on this board. He has a lot of knowledge to share if he choses.I don't know that patronizing him is the way to get him to open up and share his ideas.

His company has probably done more roof cleanings then anyone that I have heard of.

I'm always amused when someone get on this and other boards and posts a pic or makes a statement, and if they are not a high number poster or on every board there is,people jump on em and attack what they say as if they don't know anything or they are trying to pass something over on us all.

Thanks for the defense! Its appreciated. Thanks to all of the good comments.

I get the same load of rations from negitive people on the fishing forums too. Seems like when anyone is successfull there is a line of people wanting to kick them in the stones.

Ill open up on alot of topics. Id love to come out to a meeting sometime and teach some classes or seminars. There is so enough work out there for all of us!

  10. Last year I spent over $10K in advertising. It was basically money in the toilet. I don't know about you guys, but people where I live do not take pressure washing seriously. It's a joke business apparently. I have customers(commercial and residential) that owe me money from early Aug. They feel that they can pay whenever they feel like it. I have a parking garage that owes me $6400 from 2 months ago. I don't feel, I KNOW, that if I spent $50,000 next year on advertising and went out every day and sold work I would't even come close to breaking $100,000 in SALES!! and I am a good salesman, I have a background in sales! people don't buy. IE...I sent post cards with a before and after siding photo to a 200 house neighborhood where every single house on the block had dirty green siding on 1 side of the house.......not 1 single phone call. Tony, I'm not calling you a liar, but I find that very hard to believe.

Id hire a collections company. Did you get a contract? Also become a member of Duns and Bradstreet its like a credit score for companies. Then you can file bad marks against non paying commercial customers credit.

    AC

  11. Many pressure washing companies try bidding large projects only to find out later that they do not qualify because they dont have workers comp insurance or thier liability, auto or umbrella policy is not large enough.

Even though your state may not require a smaller company of 3 or less employees to have workers comp the potential customer does!

    THATS OK!

Go ahead and bid away! Just make sure not to low ball the project or kill yourself on the pricing.

TerraClean will gladly do the project for you and pay you the commision we would have paid one of our sales persons!!!

This means you can land these big projects, consult with us, we will clean and bill the project and you get to reap a profit without expending any overhead!

If this sounds good to your company we service the entire southeast US as well as Texas.

Call and ask for AC at (866) 86-TERRA

  12. Seems like hiring good employees is a difficult task. We struggle with that as well. However there is room to grow your business and personal income without hiring employees or increasing your exposure.

    1. Come to work for us!

    2. Sell us your commercial projects that are too big for your business or require insurance or workers comp you dont have.

    3. Become a consultant for the industry.

    Anyones head dizzy yet????
