  1. $7,000 Budget for new equipment

Got about 18k into it, counting a 4gpm belt drive backup, a big boy, a shurflo wagon and all my tips , wands everything to get going, (the rig itself- about 15k ) plus a month of fab. adding a 42" x 112" sign on street side and a small sign on the rear tail-gate ramp that I still have to build. I need to get some work though.
  2. Picks of decent pump-up sprayer

Here in Houston I have found that for the average roof, 1 gallon of 5% to 6% per square.
  3. $7,000 Budget for new equipment

Hey TRon, check out my website @www.excaliburpw.com to see pics of rig I just built. If you get in a bind, give me a call and I might be able to help you out. I live in Crosby, just outside of Houston. Tom
  4. Sand bags and booms?

Thanks for the response, a good friend of mine is a chief with the local volunteer fire dept. He refilled my fire extinguisher for free after checking out my rig and making sure I wasn't to wide and loved the little padlocks on all of my valves (no children can open them). I will have to check with him about the fire hose, good possibility! By the way, He loved my rig.
  5. Setting up a new rig

Here's a pic of my new rig, took 4 weeks to get it ready to work and me doing all the welding. I love a 16' because it is easier to back up and tows a lot smoother than a short wheelbase trailer!
  6. commercial contracts info needed

HEY CARLOS, me too, i'm a newbie and would appriciate any help I can get. Thanks, Tom
  7. Arghhh! &*$%@$@! lowballers.

you did mean CHINA-MART right? The demise of our country is CHINA-MART, I am in a unique situation, I sold a cabinet business and have two years left on a non-compete, I was doing 2.3 million a year with a lot of headaches, so I have less than 1 year to start making a good living from this venture. If not, I will get back into building cabinets and making $120,00.00 a year profit. I do feel a need for a change since I was getting burn-out, but I feel that this market is still wide open. Everywhere I look I see stuff that needs to be cleaned!
  8. Residentials and driveways

What's the shelf life of chlorine?, I thought it was several months.
  9. Want to reclaim and wondering where to find or make an inexpensive reclaim boom and where to find sandbags. Is there any type of bag that could be filled with water and emptied after so as not to carry a lot of extra weight? I have a sump pump and a 135 reclaim tank with an oil absorber sock inside, planning to empty it by gravity feed into customers sanitary sewer cleanout. Thanks, Tom
  10. 1st job Quote, A Monster!!

Yes, it's my home, and my 98 vette. Thanks for the compliment on the rig, it is almost complete and I will post some more pics when it is finished.
  11. Need help to bid a wrought iron fence that the paint is peeling on about 70% and bid painting as well. The fence is 3' high galvanized and it is rusted where they welded the rails to the posts, the top caps are peeling as well as most of the spindles. How should I strip and what would be the best paint to apply? I was thinking of a 2-part epoxy and rolling it on with a 2" ROLLER, and hitting the welds with a spray can of galvanic primer (approved for gov't jobs) I COULD USE MY AIRLESS AND AN ENAMEL, BUT A LOT OF WASTE of material AND MIGHT NOT LAST AS LONG.
  12. 1st job Quote, A Monster!!

It is my temp. tow truck, till I get some jobs lined up. Yes the trailer has brakes, I will only carry about 100 gallons in feeder tank, about 120 gallons of various mixes, until I get a 1 ton or bigger, the truck has 400hp and the same tranny as a Ford dually, and has 3:73 gears. The trailer has about 600 to 650lbs tongue weight and it tows very nicely, the weight is very well distributed.
  13. 1st job Quote, A Monster!!

Here are some pics of my rig. 8 gpm, 3600 psi, hot/cold, 24 hp Honda, 2 gun setup, 335g supply tank, 165 reclaim, 2-16 chemical, 1-20 acid, 2-80 for mix, 2800 watt generator, 7000 gvw 16' tandem trailer, overhead reels, still have to add a couple of reels, a sherflow pump and get some ladders.
  14. Newbie here, my rig is about 85% finished, will post pics later. My wife works for a shipping company and they have 100 storage tanks they need washed and some painted. These tanks are monsters, they are about 200' across and 50 to 60' high. Containment is no problem, water supply may be? The tops (domes) are walkable ( 1/12 -2/12). This job seems like it would be in the $300,000.00 to 700,000.00 dollar range or more. Water supply will be my main concern, but if it is available, what would you bid. Consider that this is daytime or nighttime work, my choice and that I could get an annual or every two years contract from them. They also want me to use a chlorine mix. I may be able to have a tanker dropped on site. Tom
  15. Information?
