  1. awesome cleaning job. Curious.... is the last pic an after pic with stain? If so another application would create a more even flow of the tone. Looks like the wood drank more stain in soime areas than others. Looks real good, I'm just picky that way. I wouls add one more app of the stain to even it out a bit. You failed to mention you have a pool though. I'll be over after work.... lol. Good job.
  2. I only use The Breeze Brush for my company Chris. Still the best out there in my opinion. I tried to get it out into the world but was unable to dedicate all of my time and efforts and money. You know, crashing airplanes, smashing guitars like Pete Townsend, and replaying in my head the day I touched Cindy Crawfords butt is more time consuming. Although I have many other inventions ( and again not enough money to push them) I am focusing on a few that may seem promising in other industries. Still trying to put finishing apps on "Boat Brakes" fiasco. Not to mention the "Guitstool" which is just cusping. Never defeated though. Cheers
  3. Wow, man, I hope I didn't scare off another DIY. I'm so good at that you know. !!!!!
  4. Please complete your signature line. House rule #1. - - - Updated - - - oh yeah.... welcome to TGS.
  5. I think its back..... maybe something I did through my phone.
  6. And you know what they say about Texas....... ....everythings bigger esp. the guns... Very well protected state. ..... You can always get a CHL Rick..... cant you???
  7. Hmmm there it is..... Probably a result of the R.F.I.D. implants. Things are shutting down around me everywhere I go. lol...... no wait.....
  8. wierd... I re edited and still nothing. Something is up, I resaved and nothing.
  9. Really......really....... Really.... There is more sodium hypochlorite in our freaking drinking water than what's required for a house wash mix. The amount of dihydrogen monoxide and chems required for any average deck strip cannot be recovered feesably and never reaches the table below. Crazy.... Just another case of the other man bringing down the brother man. Geez. Stupid. Leave the woodies alone.
  10. ........you don't know us very well do you? heh heh heh.
  11. Nope didn't forget them, but, they are all GREAT just as well as those I listed which proves Many are great as oppposed to just being number 1.
  12. start.... to what though? No one has mentioned that wood resto in the south can be much different from the north. Jim or Rick or Beth Or Rod may find that they do not have to do resto the exact same way down here because of climate issues. vice versa for us south holes. just saying....... geo and climate are issues always going to be a variable in determining "best" status. Thats why I think qualified and capable are more operative. This is not an easy facet of the industry, we somehow make it look as if it is because many of us have over a hundred miles of wood resto. Is Eddie Van Halen the best? or Joe Satriani? or Steve Vai, Or Chet Atkins, or Roy Clark, or Dave Mustaine, or john petrucci, or eric johnson or John5. Hard call really.... I think you have good info for a new directory though..... he he he. My links at the bottom.
  13. Shane may run a close second with you Jim. He carries toilet paper with him, he is so anal about wood.
  14. Just reread thread...... no one mentioned Pete M from SB. I learned alot from him back in the day at his lunch box meetings in Lawrenceville. Not to forget his sidekick Tracy H. Both vets from early on who helped alot of us get where we are today. Wood sucks man anyways,....... why am I posting here? I hate wood. lol. I'll love it again in about 5 minutes.
  15. HOA's = $$$$$$$$ due to homeowners violations. Upper tier customers can be just as dirty filthy home owners as lower end customers. Nothing wrong with HOA's they actually help keep upper end neighborhoods...... upper end neighborhoods.
  16. .... all that said, why was the stain appearence too dark with a semi trans. Just curious if you brightened/ nuetralized the wood after cleaning/ stripping. However, I agree that you applied the color tone she chose. Collecting and discussing options was the right thing to do. semis usu. apply darker at first anyway. She may like it after it cures for a month or so.
  17. Your latter explanation is the way to approach this. Flipping saved you a ton of money. Now just prep the wood as you have read here. Stain it a few days later. Done. You got the idea.
  18. Types of Powerwashing you haven't done?

Haven't cleaned my own resi. lol..... or the space shuttle fleet.
  19. Boom Train of oil socks around the perimeter of the dock tied off and attached to an extension pole. Helper to drag portable unit and hose on pack mule and cart. Sodium Hypochrolite is salt based and will turn back into salt in the ocean or gulf or where ever. Hydrant meter to keep your tank full. Tarps to cover electrical gangboxes and bulkhead lifts and boats and people who wont move. When staining do the same thing with the oil socks except soak them in dish soap first it will attract the oil in water as you sane through it with the boom train. If you use a boat, tie off both ends, Your wand will become a propulsion system and you will end up in the drink. Trust me. You can also use a collection tarp under the dock depending on how shallow / access there is. But those almost al3ways fail and are cumbersome. ..... or if there are thousands of these projects........ pass on it and land one that is closer to your trailer rig.
  20. Maybe he is younger than us Charlie, and doesn't mind the walking. Not to disagree too much with you though. I have run 700 ft before and barely lost any noticable psi. I run 500 on the trailer and 200 extra high pressure hose on standby. It's doable if his body can handle all the footwork and carrying thats going to be involved. I guess attitude might have a little to do with it as well. With all the water work I have done this year I prefer to have my rig a little closer to the worksite. But I'm old and lazy.
  21. I still think it should just be a directory because of people's different forte's in the wood industry. But if it was a "Best of" Then Ricks azz should def be on the list.
  22. If you can't drive across the grass, then there is no other choice except to "hoof it". That's what helpers are for. If you make the customer happy by your applied efforts towards his request. That is sometimes worth more than the act itself. After all.... you get to leave at the end of the day. He gets to look at your work from here on out. Might as well give it your best effort and charge accordingly.
  23. might as well make another directory to add to the countless others out there. It could only help all of us get more business.
  24. IMO this should be listed as "qualified Professionals in your area". You're all the best in my book. i would know nothing without this forum, and help from the following: Shane ( above all best customer service as well). Rick Petry Jim Foley Rod Beth and don't forget Tracy and Pete. and Chaz and the timberland dude that never stops talking during the round tables. and countless others. Thx Doug and Chris and ron, but, my skills learned from these pros, and customers satisfaction from what I have learned here, and most of all the fact that I still love this stuff after ten years is all that matters to me.
