Adrian replied to gutterdog's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Hey John, wlecome to TGS. 'bout time. -
Post number #75 is most likely the reason. You need a better chem supplier. Along with better application techniques. That area WILL come clean. You only removed surface debris, not what is embedded. .......but since this post is about "new gutter cleaning" techniques and not house washing I will leave it at that. 5 dollars says this turns into another 10 pager. Any takers?

Amidst the turbulence yesterday on some of the other BBS there was a piece of info thrown out there that could have possibly ( and still could ) helped or given me a bit of a foothold for future growth. But my post went unnoticed. Not too uncommon as I usually don't have much to add other than a Conway twitty video or shameless self promotion of my music. I have a somewhat forgettable, but sunny disposition. But I still have not recieved the knowledge I came to learn by posing the ???? on the battle post. That's cool. Maybe someone can help on TGS as I still come to these bbs to learn. It was mentioned that the poster buys his RFP's from a company ( lead generator, I guess) for $250.00 a yr. Can someone explain this to me? Is it like Svc Mgc, only commercial? The disturbance in the force has caused a deficit in the ability to gain info this week for me. ( that was meant to be funny )

Buy Squier by Fender Mini Strat Electric Guitar | Travel & Mini Electric Guitars | Musician's Friend 100.00 bucks
-
Right on for the little rocker dude. Fender guitars makes a pint sized guitar (strat ) that is just the right size. It has all of the same electronics with a smaller face and neck setup. Little rockers are cool. ...I'll share this with Mr. Carter when I see him. lol.

I like buying "new" so don't get me wrong. Sometimes Pawn Shops offer little treasures. I purchased a 1978 Fender stratocaster for a very good rate at a pawn shop in Austin in the early '80's. Only to find out that the "Jimi Hendrix" autograph on a piece of envelope taped to the back of the guitar was worth a small fortune at a guitar trade show. I sold it 12 yrs. later for several thousand dollars. Originally only paid 225.00 for the strat way back when. Not as big of a find yesterday, but still a find. I purchased a "Skil" 4.5 amp belt sander in perfect shape and a large B&D vibrating sander. Both in very good to like new shape. I didn't really need them. I just couldn't pass on the find. 35.00 total. They both work great. Another 20.00 in new belts and sheets for the sanders. 55.00 total. It should help if I ever develop a case of the fuzzies. ( of course that rarely happens hehe.) Pawn shops are cool, and you can find some great little hidden treasures sometimes. Still searching for a drum walk behind sander. Or.... the "lost Gibson Black Beauty" I meant to say more gear for my business. .... yea, that's it, my business. or a Gibson.......

Pawn Shop Junkie !!!!
Adrian replied to Adrian's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
You gotta negotiate with these cats. Work out a deal. I didn't want to buy new this particular day. Refer to the first paragraph I posted about the Fender. A $225.00 guitar with a piece of paper laminated to it, which yeilded several thousand dollars a few years later at a Guitar convention. Can't get something like that at a retail store. Of course you take chances with used equipment. ....just part of it. -

Yes I have seen it. I like it. Pretty cool stuff you can find sometimes. Just don't tell anyone I'm stocking up on sanding gear. They might think I sand or something like that. I don't know sanding equipment very well, but these work great. Should the case ever arise. -

Adrian replied to RPetry's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
It does look really nice and "aged". I can see your point though. It cleaned up nice and agree that the color will lean over a day or two. On the other hand, it looks like about an 9- 12k$$ job.( just taking a stab) That is worth considering too. So basically I'm no help at all. -
Anyone tried the pre-sealed lumber from Ready Seal? Any pics? Please let me know how it worked for you. Thx

Pre Sealed Lumber
Adrian replied to Adrian's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Yes, I am very interested in the lumber. I will need several 18' planks and about 50 1x1's that is for arbor. Built in 1983. There is no way I can match this wood with brand new wood. 1150 sq. ft. Thought maybe RS lumber might be a way if the wood has aged a bit. And what species do they offer. I will also need to factor pricing for pre stained replacement wood and shipping cost'. Customer is selling property. This one would be my oldest resto to date. Plus she is leaning towards Dark Red. I love that tone. -

Man Rick, you always get me with a good one when my brain is fried at the end of a day. I'll have to go back and look. I was just assuming it was decking. -
Purple Wood. Scratching my head!!!
Adrian posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
1000 sq. ft. deck. Stripped and prepped 2 days ago. No Problems, looked good when I left. Most here know my abilities. All of the Tannin family came out of the wood. i,e, pine cones, needles, pecans, lots of pecans. I come back this morning to knock out the flatwork that suffers from the same tannin family. Tackled it ok for 5ksqft and being an old guy. Tannin gone. All clean except for these purple crap stains. Well some form of bird flock decided they wanted to roost in the 100 ft. pines above the deck. Purple Poo everywhere filled with gooey berries and whatever else comes out of a skyrats belly, on my nice prepped deck. AAAAAAAhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhgggggggggg. I walked away and went to do the flatwork just to see if it would come out of the concrete. No luck. all the stains gone except the purple poo skyrat delight. I tried straight spot to spot 12%, tried hydrox spot to spot, even tried ox acid to maybe change the color of it. No Luck. I am not as concerned about the concrete. Will this crap come out of wood? It looks like a rain shower of PURPLE POO SPLASHES. anyone have the fix? I felt like a novice trying different mixes today, my shoulders are sore, I missed Becker, I'm running behind, didn't even eat breakfast today. ....help !!!!! it's all stacking up. Trainwreck. Need a clone of me to be on 3 other jobs. ugh!!!! Kleenex please. All because of some stupid SH&T and it's purple. -

Staining my deck
Adrian replied to JFife's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Hi Jamie, Welcome to TGS. I think you will find that there are alot of firm believers in whatever product works best for them. That's what the thread is actually about that Jon started. Some swear by BGA and some swear by RS or AC or many others. I myself am glad that there are those willing to do test' of various products. I have done test' myself with BGA & RS. I used tons of BGA in Atlanta Ga. as well as RS. And even tons more here in Houston. I just simply like RS in my experiences. Others keep a BGA bible by their nightstand. Either way we are all glad you are here. No need to be defensive, because you are witnessing firsthand actual users and feedback of your product. This stuff is useful to all of us. We are anal about this stuff ( no offense Jon). We love the wood biz. Again, welcome to TGS. -
Purple Wood. Scratching my head!!!
Adrian replied to Adrian's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Well, here's the scoop on the poop. Peirce, with RS contacted me and made a great suggestion that worked a bit. Algae brush with mineral spirits. I did not score an algae brush, but used a stiffy on a few of the spots. The mineral spirits did the trick on those spots for the most part. This method will have it's advantage on the day of the upcoming spray. In case the birds do this sh&&&&&t to me again. The min. spirits do not affect the stain he says and can spray right away. However I could clearly see where the spirits "offset the ox'd areas. soooooo.... Next method on a few more poop drops wash good ol' soapy water. Just could not get it below the surface. Blah !!! waste of time. No affect. Again the soap offset the ox'd areas. Next method was (ugh ) sanding which made a big difference. But the tractor parts that hold my shoulder together let me know I need better sand equipment. Result= Very slight hint of the skyrat juice. Easily hidden with any stain. My last and final approach was actually the most successful result. I reapplied some hydrox in very light mix. Then reapplied some ox to that area. Basically I just started over on a 150 sq. ft. section. I re-applied to all the other test areas as well. and it did the trick. I am also going to keep the steelwool and stain hint for the day of the spray as well as the min. spirits. Just in case the skyrats come back with some more grape juice, or choco milk, or licorice whips. For the record or for anyone that cares, the purple poop is still on the concrete. None of these methods budged the stain at all. Plus the customer is so cool with the overall outcome of the "black to white" driveway that she doesn't even give a sh&&&&&t about the sh&&&&&t. But, i would still like to wow her by getting those stains out as well. Lithium Hydroxide....... hmmmmmm..... i'll get back to you on that one. -

I like the steel wool dipped in the stain idea.
