That's why I really really hope she chooses Dark Red instead of medium. -

Staining my deck
Adrian replied to JFife's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
It's more than likely my wires that are crossed. No RAM space left in the old noodle. I will try and post a pic of one section of my fence at home that has Bakers on it except for the gate that has RS on it. They have both been on the same amount of time and the Bakers is weakening by far quicker than the RS is. FWIW. -
William, what did the larger pump bring your psi down to?

Maybe it was Shane that told me. Family owned then a spat then a split. Now compete. It's been a while, but knew there was a plant to manufacture it in Plano or Lewisville. Either way, I have worked with Shane before and he has a keen sense for blending colors as well. I don't think he doctored the pictures. He may have. But I don't think so. He had a real professional camera that he tried to sell to me a one point, but it was out of my price range. It was a Canon. Not your regular digi cam. He likes to take the shots while it is still wet. That makes a big difference in the final "dried" result for a pic, as well as the overall outcome of the project itself. RS has a "glow" not a "glare" I have found neither on Bakers. Funny because if it is the same ( or close) they should produce the same ( or close ) results For the record, Shane has given me a few decks in my area that had failed bakers on it and he simply didn't want the projects. I'm greatful for the work he gave a couple of yrs. ago, but those decks have RS on them now and have not had call backs at all. I have always felt that the our wood ( south westish) varies from the northern wood even if it is the same species. Just different weather all the way around. Some of the "Fancy" stains just don't hold up to the Texas heat at all. But hey, whatever works for you is what works. -
Staining my deck
Adrian replied to JFife's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Isn't Bakers and Rs made by two brothers here in Tx.? Little variations on each formula. They compete with each or had a falling out between them? Or something to that effect. I have used both, and RS seems to last longer. Especially at the marinas where I have customers. I had to re-do a deck stained with Bakers over a lake within 6 months one time. Shane absorbed the cost as Bakers rep. My customer wasn't happy and hasn't called back since. BUT.... I hear ya Ken. I have used RS ever since. Distributor is the best I've ever had and they keep a pretty generous supply on hand. -
Strip this deck
Adrian replied to ValleyPressureWashing's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I might get kicked around on this one but, Have you stripped any decks before? HD-80 is a good product where you are able to mix it at whatever strength you need. Personally I would not use anti-freeze with HD-80. I am sure it is alot like Bourbon in your coffee in the morning. "It can be done, but, probably isn't very well accepted practice" Stick with the instructions on the jug of HD-80. It should serve you well. Welcome to TGS. I have heard of this, that you mention before vaguely around the bongfire. I have also heard in the days of old, that kerosene or deisel fuel was used on wood to preserve it. ..... that's probably what caused the development of VOC regs. I think the HD-80 will treat you fine. Be sure to neutralize the wood with ox acid or citralic acid afterwards. again, welcome to TGS. -

Using Hydroxide after bleach.
Adrian replied to Isaac B's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I don't think you missed anything. I based my responses to his first sentence. ..have to prep some wood for stain..... I guess I assumed that there was old stain to be taken off. -

Using Hydroxide after bleach.
Adrian replied to Isaac B's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
You could probably save a step by mixing the two and xjetting at once. It will just have to be mixed a bit hotter than the pump due to the water to mix ratio from the xjet. The pump sprayer will be hot to the touch for sure as will the jug for xjet. Spray it. Let it dwell. neutralize. -
Using Hydroxide after bleach.
Adrian replied to Isaac B's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Yes, it will get hot. Hydroxide does that with or without ( bleach ). I have never had it warp wood. I have to make some pretty hot batches sometimes. How are you applying it? Do a test area with a small mix and see how it works for you. Adjust your mix to the test area when you hit the entire area. Then neutralize. -

You can boost your SH with Hydroxide and then neutralize with ox or citralic afterward. -
