  1. First and foremost all surfaces need to breathe, seal it with something that can't breathe, your in trouble!

Second, there is the UV factor,is it UV resistand?

Thirt ,anything petrolium based, mold and mildew will love it,it will feed on it.

We have had good luck with oxiseal aldo no colors available yet, once the wood is weatherd for a few months, simply mist on a light coat,it will stay clean for seven years,

only drawback is the wood may lose some of it's color over the years, but it will stop it from warping, splitting and growing mold and mildew.

    Thank you.

Please go tp "my controls" and complete your signature line.

    (second request) House rules.

  2. you can adust your pressures on a surface cleaner just like on your wand. Change the orifice size and the result will be a different pressure. Also, the degree will change the impact. So use the combibation to get whatever pressure you need. Most folk i talk to use the surface cleaner and use a suitable pressure.

    +1.............

Or the pressure regulator on the pw can be reduced or increased as needed.

Alot of pool decking ( aprons) are built with the same type of concrete as the usual flatwork, but they are also usually coated with cool crete coatings that are only milimeters thick and can lose adhesion with too high psi.

12%, ox for rust, light mist light rinse in most cases.

  3. I took you advice, and went and checked out e-bay, the other day. Seen a few for 300 bucks! They were new too! 12 or 16 inch? I dont think a real wide one I want right now, plus the price.

Awesome advice about the low spots! That is experience talking thanx!

Question about tips. Are they the same tips as on the wand? With quick connects or do they screw in?

I'm thinking a 0 tip would do damage? Since that is the same as the turbo nozzle.

Mike. get a 20 inch or larger surface cleaner. You will never look back.

You won't regret the extra money spent. Bottom line.

  4. Overall, good advice. With exceptions. For wood restoration, I always tell my customers exactly what chems we will be using on the job. But there is an acceptable way of doing this.

For example, wood cleaners are sodium percarbonate based. Most do not know the term, but they do know and often use Oxiclean. Instead of acid, we use "food grade citric acid". Its drinkable for humans and contains a ton of vitamin C !

Strippers are a different story. For very difficult finishes to be removed, the "hot" and "boosted" NaOH mixes are highlighted. Customers want that foul looking finish off and all of a sudden, "nasty" chems are of benefit. I also let them know these types of strippers are not something they or Joe Handyman can buy at Home Depot.

    I agree Rick,

Some of these customers know that they potentially have a nightmare project on their hands and want reassurance of an effective " application"

    that is the cure.

That is a selling tool for wood.

As far as house washes and flatwork some of the names of chems can be scary to the customers. They want a gentle approach that will not harm the landscape or finish.

    Great points!!

  5. I found a classified today for a 125 GallonLeg Style Storage Tank with a

Hi-Flo 5275704 pump (12 volt,3.8 GPM,45 Max PSI) for $50.00 cash (held H2O Only) from a out of business Mobil Car Detail company. Not sure what to do with them yet but I will have fun figuring it out. I have enclosed a pick of my Skid Alkota 5305EB and pump new 4000PSI pump..Not sure what Brand...any ideas..could make a nice water option if needed..to big to be a Chem tank I Think,,,but I could see 50 or so Gallons of EFC-38 swishing around on a fence or parking lot if needed.

    Dan

That is a great deal Daniel.

Did you end up getting both of the trailers from CL ?

  6. alot was done for free.

Post number #75 is most likely the reason.

You need a better chem supplier.

    Along with better application techniques.

That area WILL come clean. You only removed surface debris, not what is embedded.

.......but since this post is about "new gutter cleaning" techniques and not house washing I will leave it at that.

5 dollars says this turns into another 10 pager. Any takers?

  7. There are several near my house and I have looked inside a few times. Way too over priced for me. Really, for a few bucks more you could buy new.

You gotta negotiate with these cats. Work out a deal.

I didn't want to buy new this particular day.

Refer to the first paragraph I posted about the Fender.

A $225.00 guitar with a piece of paper laminated to it, which yeilded several thousand dollars a few years later at a Guitar convention.

Can't get something like that at a retail store.

Of course you take chances with used equipment.

    ....just part of it.

  8. Adrian, there is a show on the History channel called Pawn Stars that is right up your alley. Have you seen it? I started watching it one night now I am addicted to it. People bring in everything from Super Bowl rings to Aztec statues and signed baseballs. Cool show.

Yes I have seen it. I like it. Pretty cool stuff you can find sometimes.

Just don't tell anyone I'm stocking up on sanding gear.

They might think I sand or something like that.

I don't know sanding equipment very well, but these work great.

    Should the case ever arise.

  9. I like buying "new" so don't get me wrong.

Sometimes Pawn Shops offer little treasures.

I purchased a 1978 Fender stratocaster for a very good rate at a pawn shop in Austin in the early '80's. Only to find out that the "Jimi Hendrix" autograph on a piece of envelope taped to the back of the guitar was worth a small fortune at a guitar trade show. I sold it 12 yrs. later for several thousand dollars. Originally only paid 225.00 for the strat way back when.

Not as big of a find yesterday, but still a find.

I purchased a "Skil" 4.5 amp belt sander in perfect shape and a large B&D vibrating sander. Both in very good to like new shape.

I didn't really need them. I just couldn't pass on the find.

35.00 total. They both work great. Another 20.00 in new belts and sheets for the sanders.

    55.00 total.

It should help if I ever develop a case of the fuzzies.

( of course that rarely happens hehe.)

Pawn shops are cool, and you can find some great little hidden treasures sometimes.

Still searching for a drum walk behind sander.

Or.... the "lost Gibson Black Beauty"

I meant to say more gear for my business. .... yea, that's it, my business.

    or a Gibson.......
