  1. I just requested a bunch of point of sale materials from them too!

I was going to push it as well this Summer. I was really interested in that and it seems to work well on the shutters. I have a demo shutter I was going to use as onsite demo with the p.o.s. materials they are sending ( or will they?). I like the stuff.

Too bad, they gave the stuff such a push towards the end of last year.

    Thought it would take off.

  2. Boss boots at Northern or HD/ lowes are inexpensive and GREAT!!!!

Longest lasting boot I have ever had ( so far). No slipping on the roofs and they have held up for miles of flatwork so far. About 30.00 bucks. I don't think they come in pink or blue though but for the lack of a fashion statement they hold up to the punishment.

  3. Hi Beth,

Glad to be back, (not settled and unpacked).

I figure, what the heck!!! might as well try it. Can't say if it works or not until then. But at my age it is alot better than hitting the bricks with five hundred fliers, like the "old days". The price is right!!!!! They garauntee that it will be seen for a minimum of 15 times a day.

    Hi Scott,

cool to be back on board. Yea the move was bumpy, but we're no worse for the wear. I had xjets installed in my four barrell in the suburban, like Ken Fenner suggested and now I'm on the bid site before the customer hangs up. Seriously, for less than $500.00 = 6 months of exposure to my area= 15 times a day. It's a little more pricey if I run ads w/o contract.

Maybe I will do one month at regular rate as a pilot program and then do the 6 month contract. compared to the cost of fuel to start the beast...lol

  4. Hi all,

Well after the rigors of relocation to the Lone Star, I'm up and running again. Legal and legit. Postcards are out, lead generator is running again and I'm about to run a tv ad on local community cable. Not like Waynes world or anything like that. Simply called the video mall. It targets my local suburbia with video classifieds and business admercials. It will be a contract for 1/2 yr. and the rate is equivelant to the metro newspaper monthly rate ( which I will nonetheless utilize as well.) It is a slow month generally speaking for most.

I'll be pushing alot less commercial downtown gunfest' like I had in ATL with a more targeted deck and resi / flatwork focus in my areas with upper tier clients and the golf course and lake crowd. I'll be in the C.O.C. in March and hopefully a member of the H.O.A. by then as well. It's good to see some old and new avatars on TGS. I felt like I was having withdrawal symptoms from not talking with "my buds".

Missing some of the beauty Georgia had to offer, but it sure feels good to be back home!!!!! Now I just need some business!!!! I know the cycles though.

Well, here's my question for the board........

Has anyone ever advertised on tv and did it pay for itself or did you profit, or was it a bust?

Great to chat with you all again......

    I LOVE MY XJET

    I LOVE MY DECKSTER

  5. I just sold my tank because I won't need it for the move back to Texas.

Simple trailer setup really. 2 summit hose reels 2x8 planking. Really thick steel tubing all the way around. It has a long tongue on it which would have been great for a tool box, but I mounted a spare tire instead since the suburban has a tool box inside the size of a football field. Heavy duty leaf springs that barely depress with a full tank. 15 inch 60 series tires with alot of meat on the road. I also had a welder mount a ladder rack on the side above the fender. All in all a real find. Simple and basic as compared to the big boys, but it gets the job done real fine. I am very pleased with the truck and trailer setup I have now. A bit retro looking and not too modern at all. But I've got my xjet and a good ride to use it now. i will get a new tank when I get to Texas. They are a dime a dozen there.

  6. Transportation logistics and brokerage for the freight industry. 25 years started behind the wheel of tractor trailer and eventually ended up behind the desk brokering commercial aircraft. Lots of Customer Service, lots of money, lots of headaches. ........ oh yeah, can't leave out the fact that I have been a signed musician in Texas for over 20 of those years and still jammin. PWing has been a really good business for me. I have applied my previous experiences to this field.

  7. I'm with you Michael.

SC the flat work first then spritz SH light rinse if any . roll up get paid move onto the next. A time or two I have used lithium Hydroxide (photo chem) on super stubborn stains. You have to babysit this stuff and not let dwell too long or it will alien blood itself to the core of the earth. Not recomended except for last resort in my book. But it lifts ,pine cone and needle , acorn, oil etc.

  8. Praying to God a man asked the question, God, what is a million years to you.

God replies and says, " it's the same as a second".

The man then asked, "God, what is a milliion dollars to you?"

God replies and says "it is the same as a penny"

The man then asked God, " well ( heh heh) can I have a penny?"

God replies and said " sure my son,..... just give me a second"

  9. So if I were able to up sell an entire vinyl home restoration job. Is this product able to be applied with a Deckster, or must it be rolled on? I know this may seem like a silly question. I am just considering the time on the job if I had to roll it and what to charge, which would probably be significantly higher than using a Deckster and saving time.

  10. Hi John,

    Welcome to the board.

Atlanta will be having a round table on Dec 2 2006 ( 90% confirmed still need location). Would you or one of your reps be able to attend? I'm sure that it would be well worth your time and investment as many of the Ga. contractors have expressed an interest in your product. I myself can hardly wait to try the sample pack you sent. By the way, thanks for that as well. It seems like a great product to upsell onsight. Please consider the ATL Round Table. Philip Doolittle has assumed control of the logistics and planning for the RT. He is on this forum quit often. Again, thanks for the sample.

  11. They do have a code enforcement branch. Cool. They send a scout out at one time period to evaluate. The reports are then pushed through the chain, stats and write ups, and dispatch. That takes about a month or so for any given area, for the notices to be sent and start the clock???????. I think , depending on the situation, repair or cleaning etc. they are given 60 days.

For the homeowner, it has got to be a pain, esp. this time of the year.

Keep in mind that these H.O.'s have no idea the direction they need to go to even get things started. This is not ghetto areas like some of my favorite places downtown, but they are not upscale homes. Some in serious need of various repairs also.

I was however unable to get a list of upcoming notices and areas. My guess is that they are covering quadrants. I think it would be a real crapshoot to guess what area to hit w/ postcards. But the referral business is great. So I could at least eliminate a % of advertising cost since they are referrals. Which would bring me a step closer to closing. At least with my being in the same area for a bit it should bring more customer for the last boom of the season.

I am considering one of the boxes that you can mount on your work truck, that holds business cards and they can simply just get a card and call me.

Anyone ever hear of the box. Where can I pick one up. I know, I know, check the forums..................

    Off to the trenches.

    Everyone have a great day!

    I love my xjet

  12. I guess I will try it on my own shutters first. Seems like a good point to up sell the shutters vs. entire house. I am getting an extra 40.00 with carnuba on the house and that seems pretty painless for the customer. But, I am sure I can upsell shutters. I'll give it a shot.
