  1. If there are thieves on my property, IMHO it is a given that they pose a significant threat to my life. As for evidence, simply look the pipe wrench and tire tools they are holding. Obviously taken from my tool box just before I shot them. :)

AND FOR THE LAST ONE: I can only say BULLS**T. I will not EVER run from my property avoid a confrontation with thieves. I'm sorry, but that is liberal, soft spoked, anti-gun CRAP.

I'm glad you chimed in Philip, I am so glad you make it easy for the layperson (me) as well as the educated ( others) to understand in so many words. Funny you should mention this because, I had a friend?? tell me something that relates.

He said he always carries a "Throw down .22cal." just in case there was no proof of him being attacked. At first I thought..... that might be a little crooked....... but then I thought of my family, and what extremes I would go to to protect them.

This whole thing has been a little effed up since then, re-evaluating and re-designing my Utopia with protective armour. Everyone, thanks for sharing, keep them coming, we're cathing up to the faith vs. bleach threads!!!!

  2. One good way to longevity is to assume that everybody is armed, and unstable. Only the law-abiding obey gun laws.

Amen Bro, that's how I'm feelin after the whole episode. Everyone's up to something. I still haven't told my other half about it yet. I don't want to put anymore worry on her with this event. We are only a few months away from moving to a better "country" , TEXAS. Where the guns are BIG and the mob puts a rattlesnake in your mailbox as a payment notification.

But, i do agree with your statement. It shook me up a bit and wish I had one of those German Shepard's or at least better sense.

  3. I'm sure you will learn several methods for stucco and dryvit cleaning on TGS.

I have had great luck with reg. house wash formula ( maybe a bit more 12% than ususal).LOW PRESSURE. Stucco is easily damaged and costly to patch.

If you don't have a regulator, you can adjust pressure with tips and distance. Let your chems do the work but don't over dwell with chems to point of discoloring. Re apply if needed. If there is rust then mix in a little tsp or krud kutter to loosen. Easy with the hot water as well.

others will chime in with processes also....

  4. Nobody messes with me and my Crossman air rifle.

If I can get it up to 10 pumps before I am shot...Watch out! I am a dead eye with this thing.

    Rod!~

Yep!!! and I love my xjet, and it's a good thing ( now that I'm not shaking in my Laredo's) that I was not connected to PW or he would be a little less for wear!

  5. I always thought that Judo would bail me out of a situation like this, but I was wrong. I froze!!!I'm good with not having a pistol for now, with all the new additional backup, one of them is bound to "smart " them a bit.

But I do like the .380 and will take the proper measures when I feel a little more comfy and responsible with the decision. ( Just being honest).

I like the .380, but I really feel like I should take the classes first and get used to handling a pistol.

and like I said, a pistol is not completely out of the question, because I know if that guy would have had a pistol I would not be writing this. But it certainly would be a good reasoning tool to have in situation like this.

I really do try to avoid violence, but i saw someone who didn't care whether I live or died yesterday and it could have been over for me in a second.

    Personally I want to live.

so I guess that settles it.

    Bigger truck with gun turrets.

  7. It's probably the same here with a vehicle.

It just simply caught me off gaurd and sucked the energy and reasoning out of me.

    one minute ... fine.

    next minute..... madman

    next minute... angry traffic mob

    next minute.... madman again

next minute..... driving home thinking I could be dead a few minutes ago.

In a way I am kind of mad at myself for not doing anything, but that might have been what got back on the freeway a few minutes later.

  8. In a nutshell....... I simply don't have enough horsepower in my truck.

Downtown ATL ( not mid-town or uptown ) , let's just say lesser districts at dusk rush hour is not the place to be stuck with 4 cylynders and an extra 1200 lbs (with tank empty) on trailer.

The car behind me has no time to waste by being behind me on a feeder to interstate. So obviously he makes time to jump around and in front of me to do a burnout, stop in front of me, get out and started doing a Homer Simpson type dance with a novelty bat that you get on bat day at the field. Blocking the entire feeder, with cars skidding and slamming into the curbs, with me kinda "stuck" in the direction I was going, Horns blowing plus a thousand witnesses to watch me get slain, this proper southern gentleman realized he must have forgotten his medication. He runs to my window swinging away, but never made any contact with me or truck.

So this guy decides to foot it the rest of the way I guess, which left me stuck behind his car that was in the opposite direction after the burnout.

The people that witnessed this and approached about the car, also shared this sountern gentlemans same hospitality that he shared with me, somehow holding me responsible for the man actions. A few minutes later

he came out from under the sloped(sp?) banks of the freeway and fired up that ride of his and decided to go into the direction the car was pointed in.

Facing my truck!!!! I swear he trew a rod reving that 80's something cutless. Yes I was really scared and worried. People were driving around the site after a few minutes, once word traveled to the back of the crowd. so there were essentially cars trying to get around and I was stuck. So he decides to drive into the crowd. Never hit anyone, and took another street off of the feeder to get lost a little deeper downtown.

Sorry... I said in a nutshell.

bottom line..... my truck has been a good truck. Still is. 400 miles on a tank.

Somthing is telling me to rethink the 8 cyl. route.

No pride lost, very thankful actually.

... as for my helper, does anyone know how to get urine stains out of truck seats? lol. kidding.

I am not ready to carry a pistol...... Don't misunderstand me though I have several forms of .12 gauge protection and normally I am not in "Downtown" mode. But I will not ever go out unprotected.

  9. Thank Jon Fife, and John W.

I don't have a record, and I am just pretty sure after this incident that I still am not ready for a gun for anything other than hunting.

I now have a telescopic baton with hip attachment.( army - navy store)

A couple of palm sized dyed pepper sprays with belt attachment. ( army -navy)

A couple of 100,000 stunners w/ belt attachments on order.

Hunting knife as back up in work truck.

Extra tire irons in truck and trailer.

Even several years of Judo in my earlier days didn't kick in.

Kinda feels like I failed myself, but things could have been worse.

Local pistol dealer has classes, shooting range approval/certification/ registration and sells guns ( a .380 cal) for about the cost of all the equipment above. This will be my last resort as I really want to make sure my anger dept. is in check. I don't WANT to shoot anyone, after all.

Are there " Hazardous" rates for this industry?

  10. I'm leaning towards a stun gun or taser.

Anyone have any experience with these.

Stun gun = much cheaper = somewhat effective results

Taser = expensive as a .45 with non lethal results.

Gun = permenant results = life in prison

baton = questionable results = no garauntees

mace spray = buys a little time to run and stay alive

0 degree tip = applied to the achilles tendon or family jewels would slow them down ( but will they wait for me to switch from my xjet)

    jet Li = priceless

    very serious post folks.

very concerned and shaken a bit even still.

  11. I found myself in a rather awkward situation yesterday in the non racial city of Atlanta. I am curious as to what some on this forum do for protection for themselves and their helpers. Know that I have been "Color blind" towards different nationalities all of my life. My disbelief ( or stupidity ) was my downfall yesterday. Total shock was my enemy yesterday and caused me to stumble. Now unfortunatley I must recognize the ever changing times and come to grips that I do not ever want to be caught unprepared again.

Not just for me and my helper, moreso, I have a family.

    Just curious

    stun gun?

    baton?

shotgun or pistol ( questionable in my world, but not totally out!!!)

    star trek utility belt

    RPG

    Jet Li

Feel free to share your situations as well and how you handled it....... know that it could help me in the future.

..... and thanks to my new found Daylight I must come up with a new motto to go along with it...... something like Judas is everywhere and he carries a gun!!!!!

or ............keep your enemies even closer!!!!!!

or..... Trust no one , everyone is the enemy.........

There really is no Utopia.......... my bad!

I love my XJET........ ( just wish I had it hooked up at the time)

  12. Try a turtle wax product, the kind you ad to your soap. spray it on and rinse, see what happens.

That's what I was going to suggest as well.(could it be that me and Ron are on the same page) Get a spray on Carnuba wax and be done with it. (Northern has it for about 12 bucks a gallon).

That should cover roughly 3 or so resi's.

  13. I have been told that the city cannot shut you down for washing a residential on rationing day. They cannot interrupt your business if it requires the useof your customers water. I don't know if it is gospel or not. And that is for a resi, I don't know if that pertains to a commercial project. But if you have a tank, then the problem is solved.

    off subject:

I used to live in Alamo Heights.

Then Universal City a few years later.

    Both were rockin areas.

    I bet they still are!!!

  14. Ryan,

    Shoot over to Tybee Island.

No kids when it's cooler like this.

    Really relaxed atmosphere's and attitudes.

(and don't forget that I am a displaced Texas Native)

Cut rate deals on first class hotels with great views.

Hang at the Dolphin for about 125.00 a night.

Alot of down home folks with big service.

I have been vacationing there every Thanksgiving for the past 4 years that I have lived in Ga.

Pretty cool getaway not too terribly far from home.

1500.00 will get you a long way there.

Already did the Disney thing this Summer as well and 1500.00 will get you in the door and that's about it.

I vote that you do the end of Summer thing on the island.

    Have fun whatever you do.

  15. Thanks for all the replies.!!!!!!!! LOL.

A little research gets you a long way. I found all the specs I was looking for.

I picked up the pw this am after a close inspection.

It is called an "Alto" By Simpson.

I picked it up at a rental store who sells their inventory from time to time.

It is very well maintained. I won't say what I paid for it, but it was a package with surface cleaner, and all peripherals. But the price made me stop and do a double take about 3 times.

Has service record / history and cleans like a banshee.

16.5HP electric start B&S Vangaurd engine

    4000 psi / 4 gpm ( General Pump)

    belt drive (kinda cool)

    10'' knobby tires

50' hose wand and tips blah blah blah

Simpson 20'' "cyclone" surface cleaner (single bar spinner)

Now I have 2 of everything.

For backup or for running 2 at once ( with a helper obviously)

I wasn't planning on going this route ( 2 of everything) but the price was right ( unbelieveable IMO ) and it was like finding the '65 Mustang in mint condition that Grandma was selling for a song.

Bottom line is that it is a write off, it's super well maintained, and it will increase productivity. ...... and I didn't even get in trouble with the Mrs.

    ............only one xjet though...........

    I love my xjet

    I love my Deckster

.....no room left on the trailer..... help...... drowning....

Will try and post some pics of the pw unit

and some pics of our Manhattan Island weekend...... ( un freakin real)...

got some good hobo shots and a few in front of John Lennons place.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

  16. Hey Phillip,

New York Kicked A$$, thx for the info.

Go with the gold or light brown for Michelle.

You know better than to ask a question like that, Mr. Hawking!!!!!!!!

    kidding.

I have used both and they both appear very natural.

.... but I do like James' statement. I am going to try that.

I have always tried to detour my customers from straight RS clear, just because of no UV protection.

  17. 2 to 1 bleach mixed with super concentrate soap, applied to the nostril with x-jet...............

oh...... you guys are talking about colds... kidding.....

a home remedy for bee stings.....

a pinch of cigarette tobacco applied with scotch tape directly over the sting.

for splinters... soak in dish soap for a while. It will swell the splinter out enough to grab it.

toothache........ apply a piece of clove to the throbbing area.

  18. x that surface cleaner

    x the brush kits

that machine will not get chems the heights you need for 2 or 3 story resi's

not knocking downstreaming, but I know that particular machine. better off with Xjet or M5 on that one. Plus it will only have a soap tip.

A water broom WILL NOT clean a driveway, but they are great for rinsing what the surface cleaners lifts.

If you are going to be lugging your equipment in the bed of the truck, your next move would be to consider a trailer and alot more hose. Your back will give out after a few months of hand lifting your gear and you won't like your work as much. Mount it all on the trailer and you'll shave off as much as an hour for set up and breakdown which equals a higher wage for you.

I didn't see any deck gear listed...... one word...... DECKSTER.... or equivilant. with a variable cone tip. That thing will pay for itself on 1 or 2 deck jobs. Also good for other chems, gutters, yadda.

Rubber boots and Dickies uniforms. You will ruin your daily duds on your first job. The Dickies really really hold up well.

Check the bargain basement on this site and see if you can find a better surface cleaner than the one you chose at Northern. A 109.00 dollar surface cleaner that screws onto the wand end and commercial work lined up for your new business. Plan on buying one of those every week because it just will not hold up to commercial work. It will make your back sore and dig you an early grave. Get a real surface cleaner even if it is used.

get a bag of multi sized O rings, because you will need those as well(5.00)

Have I spent all your money yet? If not, then get a respirator and safety goggles and gloves too.

If you are dead set on a brush kit just get the rotating brush that is geared for THAT machine. Northern has that as well for about 30.00

For the wonderful smell that will be coming from you at the end of a long day of xjetting straight up, get a larger pumper of germide sanitizer. You can pick up some creepy crap from other people's property.

Germ-X makes vats (15.00 gal??) of the stuff and it sanitizes your smelly self from the bleach and other fallout that you will not be able to avoid.

It will sanitize and burn like heck all the little nicks and cuts and help reduce any infections.

Have I spent all your money yet?

...........there's alot more where that came from.
