  1. You are all welcome to write me in. I could not be much worse than some of the candidates that are currently on the ballot.
  2. No that wont work. They have to learn english first.
  3. Did you all notice how I managed to stay out of this conversation? Did you all know that my wifes maiden name is Castillo? Did you all know that I only employed one hispanic worker until last week when he managed to get fired? (Beth knows that story, and it is actually kind of funny and very well deserved) That being said, I am absolutely opposed to illegal immigration. I tried using Hispanic workers, mostly Mexicans, and they just did not work out for me. They could not have a drivers license here, so that they could not legally drive. The language barrier was untenable, and they would quite often totally rip me off in performing their assigned jobs for the day. (did you know that it can take up to 3 hours to drive two miles to a job?) I do not employ anyone of questionable legal status anymore. As much as I would like to, I do not think that there is anyway feasible way that they can be returned home to their native countries. It would be horrendously expensive, and would take decades. What we could do is make it increasingly difficult to send their money home, etc. So, if I was president here is what I would do, and mind you, I am thinking of this on the fly and it is not perfectly thought out. 1. Any money sent to a foreign nation by a Non US citizen, including foreign corporations would be taxed at a 50% tax rate. Anyone caught sending the money and not collecting the tax would have to pay the tax on all money, whether it was previously taxed or not, at a rate of 25%. For collecting the tax, the company would be able to keep 10% of any taxes they collect to cover their expenses. 2. Anyone that is caught working or employing people with forged documentation would go to prison for 6 months of each violation. If they are a foreign national, they would be returned to their home country. If they are caught again, it is their second violation and would require a 12 month sentence, 3rd violation an 18 month sentence. 3. Any medical care that they seek would be paid for by the federal government, and deducted from any assistance that the US federal government gives to their native country. If no assistance is given to their native country, then it is deducted from any trade that they conduct. 4. Any Foreign national would be required to have a drivers license to drive and would be returned home at their own expense if caught without a US drivers license. 5. They would be required, within 5 years, to purchase a home on american soil. This way they would have a vested interest in the American Dream. 6. Any employer that is caught not collecting taxes on Foreign nationals would have a complete audit on their books, and have to pay 20% on any income taxes not paid. 7. Any foreign national would be able to keep whatever money they have paid into social security and have it paid out to them upon retirement, no earlier than the statutory time, until they run out of money. 8. They must have basic english skills within 2 years of arrival or start of their first employment. It can be done without an education. But we would otherwise welcome them with open arms...
  4. getting hair cuts

Hey! Look everyone! He is ALIVE!!!
  5. yuck...

I dont know, a lot of the cosmetologists I have met seem to well acquainted with alien life forms.
  6. Cell phone etiquette with clients

Count me in the above. I also put it on vibrate. Sometimes the customer will hear it vibrate and tell me to take the call, but usually I just wait until I am done. If they tell me to take the call, I know most of the customers well enough that I know whether or not they are sincere.
  7. yuck...

I sweat nothing. I just find it humoruous, and when I hear people totally buying into it, it is even more humorous.
  8. yuck...

Art Bell and coast to coast have been having dire predictions that the next year there is going to be a bird flu pandemic for about three or four years now. I am still waiting for it. Now, there are a few other things that I am waiting for that have been predicted by the guests on that show. I am still waiting for the HUGE solar flare that was supposed to kill everyone that was outside when it hit because it would bring the temp of the earth up to 300 degrees for 5 to 10 minutes. I am waiting for the Chupacabra to appear in Arizona. I am waiting for the next alien meeting with the president, and for it to be announced publically, and of course, the worldwide Ebola outbreak. You just cannot take anything too seriously that is on that show. I love listening to it, though. One of the things that makes me look forward to night work just because I find it so darn entertaining.
  9. Happy Holidays!

You guys never sleep. Merry Christmas, and please be safe.
  10. New Federal I-9 Form and Notice

Just what I need to worry about. Another stinking form.
  11. Almost Home?

I don't. My family all lives far too close to me. I do appreciate what your Dad has been doing and the sacrifice that the erst of your family has been making for the past year.
  12. When and where do you vacation?

This is our current debate. Do we do the cruise, or go to Hawaii? Maybe we could do NYC. Possibly camping along the Rockies of COlorado. Who knows where my wife will finally decide on. I am game for anything.
  13. Power Washing Guide Scams

I think that there is a certain benefit in performing the labor and in trying to come to a conclusion of what the appropriate actions are to resolve a problem. The pressure washing guides serve a purpose. The biggest thing they do is to give a VERY broad over view of the business that we all enjoy...most days. As for me, I have tried to write one, and it was almost impossible because I do not think like an author, and I tend to give people credit for having a brain. Unfortunately, I am often proved wrong on how stupid people can be. Quite honestly, I think that anyone that truly wants to start a business in this industry, or any industry needs to understand a few basic concepts. 1. They need to understand what a business is, and how it operates. 2. They need to understand that they need to make a profit and how to run a profit loss analysis. 3. They need to have a VERY basic concept of what ever industry they are trying to break into 4 Finally, they need to have both proper capitalization without any intention of taking a salary for a while, and the ability and desire to spend the time to work through any problems that might arise. This and about any other business is not a 5 day a week 8 hour operation on start up. There is always something to be done.
  14. SCAM---Too funny.

Kind of tells you how many responses they really get to these things. They are probably a bunch of form letters that are just serialized. Alls they know is that number one is number one, etc.
  15. SCAM---Too funny.

Florin, Make sure you get a 10% handling charge for all that money.
  16. hiring employee

But I also am usually pretty happy... My little world is a beautiful place.
  17. hiring employee

I guess I am bad, but I ride them really hard and give the worst jobs I can come up with the first week or two, sometimes even up to the first three months. If they make it that far, they are usually good for about two years, until they figure out that I really am crazy.
  18. We're Number one!!!

MSN Careers - They’re Dirty Jobs, But They Gotta Get Done - Career Advice Article I do like the average salary though. Think I can get my guys to work for that?
  19. We're Number one!!!

Doing it that way they are WAY above average.
  20. We're Number one!!!

You must have really good customers. I deal with a-holes all the time...
  21. Florida Guys I Need help

Look on Ebay. I just bought some hose on there to see how it works out. 100 ft was $137, for the grey non marking. The manufaturer was schreiber.
  22. Turtle Wax out of concrete?

If you are able to get it out, it will probably take some kind of Caustic. NaOH preferably. He might be happier if you sealed the whole driveway with the stuff.
  23. down hill

Hmm, I was just looking at my gross sales and net revenue. Sales are up a little over last year. About 1%, so one good invoice, and it will pass last year. Probably happen this week. Net is up about 30% over last year. In arizona unemployment is about 3.7%. If this is a bad economy, I do not undertand what a good economy might be. As for the free trade, etc. I agree. I think that everyone has to paly on a level playing field, and by the same rules. So, if a country has protective restrictions on US goods entering their country, they should have the same restrictions on them. Same goes for immigration. It would be amazing to see how quickly the US as a whole would right itself if these things were put in place. Shoot, GM might even make a profit. I am talking out of both sides of my mouth, but, there are some things I don't like to see, even if the local economy here is good.
  24. I got candy!!!....

We had over 300 trick or treaters. Most of them were hispanic, of the illegal variety. I live in a nice neighborhood and they like to dump them off here. We have always given out Ice cold pop and water, but I think that next year might be different. We found pop cans and empty water bottles all up and down our street.
  25. Bush is soaking the rich!

The beauty of america is you can make your own future. If you are worried about how someone else is treating you, you are worried about the wrong thing. I have been broke, and i have had a bit of money. I prefer ot have a bit of money, even if it does mean 60 or 70 hour weeks. As for the "lousy economy" You are either out of your mind, or have not looked a tteh statistics. Your personal eceonomy may be lousy, but the country as a group is doing great. Lower taxes and salaries are rising faster than inflation. Just because you can't compete does not mean that your boss should have to pay more taxes.
