  1. How long in business

    One word, nitrogen...
  2. How long in business

Ooh, ice blasting, how cool is that...
  3. Thanks Russ & Beth Traffic up at the UAMCC

You forgot Johnny T. He is an assistant admin, too.
  4. How long in business

Wait a minute, can I post here, I mean, I have been full time at least 11 years...But it only says 11, and does that count time on start up where I worked part time? If I have been in business twice that, does that mean that I get to vote twice? I think that is what I will do. Forgive me as I edit when I rethink this... dang, it limits how much you write, and you only get one edit line. What the heck am I going to do???
  5. Wait, someone doesn't like me? Dang, I must be losing my charm. For what it is worth, it is not that I don't like Jim. People that talk to me know how open I am about things. The problem is that I cannot trust him. He has repeatedly proved he cannot be trusted in too many ways for me to feel comfortable with talking to him about any issues, but especially busin ess issues. As far as garage cleaning, we have different methods. My customers are thrilled with what I do, and I know most of Jims are satisfied. (for what it is worth, I have basis for stating it that way.)
  6. Sorry Jim, too many people had the same thought about you having an agenda posting that poll. I still stand by that you had another job, as a mortgage broker, while you were still pressure washing. That means that you do not qualify to put that you have 21 years of experience, given your parameters. In reality, I think that you are so concerned with years in business, that you discount actual time behind a wand or surface cleaner. I could go on, but I would not want to appear as though I was attacking you unnecessarily.
  7. Jim, you give hard line years. So, if someone has worked 15 years, there is not a delineation for it. It would have been a better poll if it said more than 12 years, more than 14 years, etc. Now my response, I have never hid the fact that I started part time. Even working part time, I made more than my regular job, on a yearly basis, and it was a prime source of income. Imagine, working part time washing trucks, working a regular job as a manager with 160 direct reports, and I was making more money on Saturday, since I do not typically wash during the day on Sunday, than I did all week. I started out washing part time, because I did not have a safety net, of being able to call family to support me if I was in a financial bind, and my choice was to do what I could so my wife could stay home with the kids. She gave up a career at what was then USWest in the marketing department. She was only responsible for a $70 million budget, but we decided our family was more important. One of the best decisions I have ever participated in. That is probably similar to what you did when you were still working as a Mortgage broker, where you had the regular gig, and then washed on the side. Nearly all of us that have what many would consider successful businesses have been in the same situation. But, for the life of me, I do not understand how you can adopt a holier than thou attitude about how long you have been in business full time, when you used to be a mortgage broker, at the same time. Seems something less than forthcoming to me.
  8. Unloader Blowout Issue?

The machine will run fine without it. Be warned that they are a safety device, and are totally unnecessary, well, until there is a problem. As for the location, I am used to them being on the other side of the unloader, not between the pump and the unloader. If I remember right, that is where the Delco machines I have bought have always had them.
  9. Unloader Blowout Issue?

That is a strange place for a relief valve to be located.
  10. Allison Super Suds Sucker manual ( 3-10 gallons )

Funny, I okly clean mine on very rare occasion. There is the possibilty that the venturi is not working properly. You can check it by making sure that there is some suction. Remove the nozzle, and start your machine. You can put your finger on the tip of the soap hose and see if there is suction. You can move from there to make sure the intske orifice is not plugged before you start taking it apart. If you do need to take it apart be cateful because the spring and ball are small and have a tendency to get lost.
  11. What ever happen to Jarod??

Don't know. He just disappeared. Maybe you could look at his signature and give him a call.
  12. F-250

He was probably talknig about me. My trucks are very well taken care of, sometimes metal fatigue gets to something. Besides, when I have accounts that are two hours and 50 miles away, you can be certain that there is a lot of stop and go to get there.
  13. F-250

That is a screaming deal. Is it the diesel, or the v-10? They both have advantages, but if it is diesel, you could probably turn it for more than that. For what it is worth, I am a Ford guy, and have always been a Ford guy, especially for trucks. I have had very few problems with my Fords, though I do have to admit, my transmission in my 06 came apart today. I think it is the input shaft, but will find out for sure on Monday. 135,000 miles towing a trailer 75% of the time, in city traffic does not make for an easy transmission life, I think.
  14. Almost finished and BAM!!!!

The laws for cone set up are pretty specific, and they are federal laws. It requires a minimum of three cones, spaced at the speed of traffic. So at 25 mph ypu need to spcae the cones in a taper at 25 feet a part. That way at 75 feet they are starting to pull over. If it is 45 mph they have 135 feet to pull over. I would also place them at the side of the truck, but you do not want them so far out you shut down a lane because you could run jnto trouble with local laws.
  15. Kentucky Roundtable Photos April 2010 First choice Event!!!

Nope, no whistle. Just giving you grief. ;)
  16. $100.00 Kentucky Give-away today

Jim give it a rest. You earned your ban. One of the rules of the game.
  17. Kentucky Roundtable Photos April 2010 First choice Event!!!

Hey Russ, is that your granddaughter?
  18. Who's getting slammed

Just did a quick analysis, and we are up 78% this year. Is that good...?
  19. landa pressure

Because the engine is turning. Your unloader might not be releasing at as low a pressure as you are used to. It could be going out, but it could last a VERY long time like that, too.
  20. mechanical training

You would be amazed at what he does not know. He would, too. As for the pressure washers, make sure they are the right type of pump. If they are mostly concerned with axial pumps, then you might not want to spend the money for him to go to that class.
  21. mechanical training

Sedco is the distributor for your area. http://www.sedcoinc.com/index.aspx?pg=93 is the page linking the training for you.
  22. mechanical training

Jeff, Hook up with the local distributor for whatever engine you use. They will typically have a 3 or 4 day training course for a couple of hundred bucks. They will take him from the basics, all the way up to a more detailed and tougher problems. Well worth it, at least for me. I went through it with one of my guys with Briggs about 4 years ago.
  23. Freaked out now!

Never underestimate people and how they react to their pets. I mean, look at the *****... Now the Iron Maiden is going to come along and slap my hands and edit it, but I thought I was funny.
  24. Politics, (Sigh)

I was just reading the licensing thread, and saw how it was becoming more and more about politics. The Iron Maiden from Maryland from Maryland suggested that someone start a political thread, and so, here it is. Points of Discussion, Liberal VS. Conservative- What is a liberal, and what is a conservative? Do we all really want the same thing, and just have different avenues of getting there, or is one group, more intent on subjecting others to their will, dragging them kicking and screaming along the way? I will start. Liberal VS. Conservative. A liberal by definition is someone that want to change something. For instance, most consider me a pretty conservative type of guy. I like many of the things that are in existence now, was not for health care reform in the way it was accomplished, and so maintained my stance. Now on health care I am a liberal. I want it changed, significantly from the bill that is currently in existence. I think that the more apt description should really be Republican Vs. Democrat Vs. Libertarian. I am registered as a republican, though my leaning are probably closer to a libertarian. Do I vote Libertarian? No, because I don't think that they stand a chance of winning, so I vote, by personal decision on the candidate that most closely aligns themselves with what I believe. For me the last presidential election sucked. I don't like McCain, and Obama scared me then, and has lived up to everything I expected, unfortunately. I think that the Democrats are more intent on inflicting their will on people. Evidenced by the recent healthcare debacle. When a bill, any bill, is forced through like this one was, it makes it automatically suspect to me. When Congressman are voting on a bill like this, and have not read it, or had their staff read it and analyze it, it terrifies me. The Health care bill was one of those bills. Now, have at it. You all should have fun with this. Ground rules, and I get to set them, if there is any name calling, I will pull this thread or that post at a moments notice. Keep it civilized and do not use the anonymity of the internet to give you an alcoholics courage.
