  1. Wish me luck

Good luck, sounds like a JOB AND A HALF, would like to see some before and afters , post them in the contest. Center harbor is where the moneys at.
  2. Ok heres one i did this year. New homeowner didnt have any idea what was on there for stain. I had to replace a couple of boards. all came out well and the h/o was estatic with the results. the wood was a soft fir and all beat up. i took out a ton of scratches and gouges. Beth, been to your website and I have seen your work, BEAUTIFUL stuff. please dont enter! no only kidding, there sure will be some competition on this one. I wouldnt mind getting an honorable mention.
  3. I dont think I was ever made to strip latex, LOL. Charlie,Rod, I have a question, would you charge differently for a strip and a wash? I know it sounds stupid to ask but it is basicly the same thing, add chem then wash.
  4. I have only used the hd.80 to strip the stains of the decks, stairs, and ballusters. but because of the watery solution it dosnt hang on the verticles to good.I use it mostly because it was the first i used and it works well for me. I did try it on latex and it did nothing. I did a house last week and all I needed was s/percar. this tub of hd 80 will be my last. I will be buying s/hydroxide in bulk from now on. $9 per pound for hd. 80 delivered, vs $2 pound straight s/hyd. delivered. I would be open to try something else but man ordering everything over the net is a pain. I would love one store to order everything i want. stripeeze from the store worked on the latex. but thats like $45 a gallon.
  5. those fences Look great. I love it when a customer says something like that.
  6. Same here with the warranty. I can not gaurentee what mother nature is going to do. but i can gaurentee what i am going to do. I give 1 year on labor.
  7. like to see em, I just went through the rain thing a week ago, with two decks . I was pulling my hair out cuz there was a good chunk of change hanging there. but hey cant change mother nature, yet.
  8. Jake,Shane, correct me if i am wrong. But wouldnt anything that " hardens into a glass like substance within the wood " interfere with the sealer doing its job correctly? Now me personally, I have to believe what Jake says, god knows he is an authority when it comes to protecting, sealing and staining wood.
  9. well i can tell you this, when he says that " a 4000 psi rotating nozzle will strip and tear wood off pretty fast " he aint lying.
  10. Dont look to bad, would have definetly got rid of those pot marks though.

  12. good morning, i have a deck strip/restain a week from today. the problem is that there is only one way in and out of the park model trailer and its the entrance with the deck. I will have to do 95% staining on one day and then come back and do the last 5% (the walk way to the door). what about lap marks? will they blend in? the customer will use any stain. But has cabots clear solution cedar on it now and has had good luck with it. From what i read ready seal says no lap marks. any help about how to avoid the lap marks would be appreciated. thanks
  13. lap marks

great, from what i have been reading RS seems extremly easy to work with. been raining the last few days so i have to hold off for a bit.
  14. lap marks

BEAUTIFUL, Adam, Thank you for your time and help. I will just ask them to take a 4 hour tour of the white mountains and that should be sufficient time for them to walk ( not play ) on the deck. Again thanks problem solved.
  15. lap marks

It is an older couple and they only have one exit in their park model trailer, the exit just happens to be at the deck. would 5 or 6 hours of dry time be sufficient for them to GINGERLY walk on the deck? no usage just in and out a couple of times. or would it be better to do it at night while they are in for the night and light traffic for the next 48 hours?
  16. lap marks

yea i hear ya. i got to figure something out.
  17. sodium percarbonate

    thanks Rick, will do
  18. sodium percarbonate

thanks you saved me 12 bucks, you are correct,it is not needed so no precarb before stripping, I feel though that maybe i should give it a quick cleaning with a brush (ten minutes) so i get the stripper to work on the stain and not dirt, whats your thoughts on that?
  19. my price??????

Good afternoon, I am sorry about the angle of the pictures but i hope you will be able to make something out from them. I got a call on monday from a gentleman that maintains these condo units.. he asked me to price the five uniits for a siding wash. the largest building has seven units (pic 1) and the smallest has four (pic 2 shows half the building). they are relativley clean except for some mold on the sides. being a newbie i figured that largest one will take me five hours so i will price that one at $400.00 ($80 per hour) and the smaller one will take less so i will price those at $300.00 per for a total of $1600.00. this of course sounds good to me because even if it takes me twice as long i will still make money but i just dont want to be a idiot. do these numbers even sound close? thanks for your time Steven
