  1. Surface Cleaner Questions

Thanks guys! I figured a 16 or 18" would suffice. I like the 4gpm machines for x-jetting. I can get a bettter ratio with them. Thanks again. Steve
  2. Can someone please set the record straight for me? I have heard and read that it is not wise to use a 20" or bigger with a small gpm(4) machine. On the other hand, I have read and heard that it is no big deal...just change tips to fit your machine. Some guys say they have used 30" with a 4gpm and had no problems....other than having to go a li'l slower. So, which is correct? Also, do you guys/gals prefer the floaters or coasters? I only do residentials so I wouldn't think I would need anything really big anyway but that could change down the road. Is there a particular brand that you like best? Who has best prices right now? I have only done this biz in spurts but I am getting ready to go full time in a few weeks so I really appreciate everyone's input. BTW, I just bought another machine that I am planning on using with the surface cleaner. It is a 3750/4gpm. Thanks again, Steve S.
  3. I've been trying to get price rates for my area

John, I was just curious to know if the price you quoted in your post included the roof? Steve

Anyone rmember what my original question was? LOL James is correct about the mold out here, though. I have seen mold in other states, including Florida and believe me, this IS differen't! There are several types of mold here including the deadly black mold and 6% SH won't budge it in most cases. The guy that invented those new fancy shingles that is supposed to keep mold away, set up his biz right here in Houston for that very reason...that and the fact that no one around here cleaned roofs much until recently. It probably really is the same stuff y'all have but with all the chem plants, refineries and air traffic around here, maybe it did create some kinda incredi-mold. Heck, I just saw a walking stick on the side of my house the other day, that was almost the size of my arm....that can't be normal either!
  5. Chem Blending...Opinions Needed

Bottom line here is that I was looking for a great product that was economical for me and my customers. I would think that that is everyone's bottom line that is in business for themselves. I merely made a suggestion and humbly asked for your opinions. Instead, I have my ethics questioned by some as to why I'm not supporting my local supplier. Well, my supplier doesn't feed my family, I do. I am in business for myself just like he is. I will support him as much as possible because of what he does for me but like Jon and Don said, I gotta do what's best for my coompany, my customers and my family.
  6. Chem Blending...Opinions Needed

All very good points but not trying make a knock off as you put it. The guy has already said the same thing about the suffuctants and is supposed to be bringing some samples for us to test and figure the right mix...for how I want it, not another brand. I agree whole heartedly with Rod and Beth but I personally have never even used Citraclean...was just using it for a price example. The stuff I get actually cost $225 for a 55 gal. drum. So, yes it would save me money. Still, y'all did make some very good points and I will consider all of them b4 making a decision. Thanks for your input.
  7. Shurflo Burn out

  8. I spoke with a local chem guy that said he had a list of mixes wth sodium metasilicate in 'em and he could mix up a brew at whatever strength I desired plus he could add sodium hypochlorite, a foaming agent, a rinse agent or anything else I needed at whatever strength I needed. Down side is that I would have to buy 120 gallons at a time but he would deliver it and fill my tank whenever I needed more. The price would be about the same as 2 barrels of Citraclean so I actually would save money in the long run. He said the shelf life would be about 6 mos. I wouldn't have to mix chems so that would also save me some time. Any thoughts on this? I would really welcome all pros and cons for this. Thanks

Hey Mike, Didn't you used to be a die hard x-jet fan? What turned you back to the SS Downstreamer setup?
  10. A Li'l Help, Please

Thanks Lance And Henry, I had already checked the thread you are referring to, Lance but what you said kinda puts it in a better perspective. Henry, pretty impressive! Roofs are mainly my thing along with house washes but mainly a whole lot of roofs. Thanks for the info. That really helps.
  11. A Li'l Help, Please

I checked my deoorant, tossed in a tic tac...did I miss the rapture or what?
  12. A Li'l Help, Please

Ok, instead of figuring my chem ratio for a 4 gpm machine, I would figure it for 5.8 gpm. That would change my ratio from 1.6-1 to 2.2 or 2.3-1. Can someone please tell me if this is correct. THX
  13. A Li'l Help, Please

I was wondering how 200' of hose running from a 1.8/60 pump to my x-jet would effect my chem ratio? I have a 3700/4 machine and using 12.5% sodium hypochlorite with my mix. I know this question was asked on the last page of another thread but unfortunately, once again, I was not able to pull up answer with webtv. Thanks for your patience and your help.

I finally found what I was looking for. As I said, this webtv is a pain when it comes to navigating this board. Thanks anyway.

Hey guys/gals, It's been awhile since I last came in here. I see most of y'all are using a pump setup now. I was wondering if y'all are still xjetting the rest of the house or are y'all using your pump to apply your housewash too? If I'm not mistaken, the guy who started this whole pump thing, said he had his chem line tywrapped to his washer hose and would switch back to xjet.....or something along those lines. Made it sound like he was using xjet with pump but that can't be right...can it? Can someone please clarify and explain your own setup. BTW, my PC is down and I am having to use a webtv...PITA! I sometimes can't see the last couple of posts at the end of a page so if I miss a reply or question, I might not answer it. Not being rude just didn't see it. Thanks
