  1. housewash chat

I will be able to do this monday. Do you want this at 8 EST? I have to reg. myself.
  2. What chat topics do YOU want to see scheduled?

house washing? I would love to debate and discuss this myself. I really think we need to have a chat on how to PRICE a job. Just once i would love to see a part timer add the cost's of their truck to the job and not " i need the truck for my reg job so i dont use that cost as a exspense to my buissness" Man that make's me mad. "My buissness phone is also my home phone." "insurance? who need's that?" ect...ect....
  3. Painting Contractor

what did you do with the lead based paint chip's?
  4. im going to show this pic to my mechanic, thank's. I still like the clear hose on my brigg's because i never have to use the dipstick to check the oil. I can see the level every time i start it.
  5. If you install a oil drain kit [which no one sell's] on ANY HONDA engine you will VOID THE WARRENTEE. It is a metric thread and no one sell's a oil drain kit for this reason. Ask any dealer, dont just trust me. Nice rig. Too bad you could'nt install a second fuel tank under your van and not of had the tank IN your van. No gas can's would have been nice. Easy to hook-up. Just a fuel pump. Return line and some wireing. Keep it hooked up to the key switch. Mount the reel's to the roof of the van[inside] and have a lot more floor space. If i lived where it did'nt freeze. I would mount my reel's under my truck. Anyone run a PTO driven pump here? Hydrolic type? Anything other then a pony motor? Seem's dumb to have a second engine on a stationary unit. Run off the truck engine would be nice and quite. Good for night work. Have a diesel rig and run the burner tank off the truck also. Oh well, just day dreaming again.
  6. Where Is The Holiday Spirit?

at least the president of the US has the right idea? I might not agree with everything he dose but at least he show's chareter and i have the right to dis-agree. I love the USA
  7. Where Is The Holiday Spirit?

X_MAS gift giving should ONLY BE FOR CHILDREN. I am not a scrooge. It is just plain stupid to scramble around to buy thing's that the person you give the gift to dos'nt want or is now obligated to display. christmas is a frame of mind not a marketing ploy. [yea right] buy buy buy buy buy buy if you dont have it and your neibour dose your not good enuff. If your car is over 4 year's old it's junk. your hair is oily your breath stink's tampon comm. at dinner time. dandruff make's you a unclean person dont even start me on FDS. Watch the nightly new's they try to scare the crap out of you so you stay in your house and consume. CONSUME CONSUME CONSUME BUY BUY BUY BUY Dont take a walk, take your car. consume, keep up with everyone else, buy buy buy. When was the last time you took the time to MAKE A X-MAS PRESENT AND NOT JUST BUY ONE? A $30 VCR? Why those thing's were outdated 2 year's ago. First it was record's,then 8 track tapes, cassect tape's,movie disc's,vcr tapes ,then dvd,mp3, Next year we'll all just go down to the hospitial and get the chip in our head replaced. Can you imagin the whole world with the same brain power? Who will do the mondain day to day work? We can clone droid's? Seem's the people selling gift's dont even celebrate x-mas. Do something crazy this year and THANK GOD by showing some love of life and not by what you can buy.
  8. Pressuretek skids

let me add one thing about HONDA. They dont trust ANY service shop. If your motor break's under warrentee, you must ship the engine to the honda plant. They will inspect it. IF they think they are at fault then you will get it fixed. By the way this take's about 3 week's, at best. If your brigg's break's and the service dept deem's it to be the fault of mfg. they replace the engine within a day or two. HONDA is tuff to deal with. If you found a co that has insurance and loaner equipment. Then by all mean's stick with him.
  9. Pressuretek skids

Ron i love my LARGO [www.mobileclean.com] and was for sure they had the best price.
  10. House Washing

    thank's guy's
  11. hey!!!!!!!!!!!!! i might have got one right.
  12. maybe it's not the wood? What your describing is failed SIKKEN'S. [sIKKENS is a brand of sealer for those that dont know] sikkens will turn orange sikken's will stay gooey it will clog sandpaper. sikken's will leave a shinny oil if not stripped a second time after sanding. hey i could be way off here but maybe not. the left over sikken's would look black when you tried to seal over it. Anyone have a opinion of my blind guess?
  13. House Washing

do you want a fast easy clean and 2 step a house? Easy. Use a citric acid followed by a high alk soap. You could cut the 2 stepping by useing just a citric based house wash. Limonlene. The chem reaction between a acid and a base will clean most anything better then a single soap. The further the distance between the 2 PH's the better. Too meny people think of acid like BATTERY ACID. Very wrong way to think about acid. [by the way battery acid come's in a plastic bag inside a cardboard box, not to mention your battery in your car is plastic]
  14. How do you like your Turkey?

i tried smokeing a turkey once but could'nt keep it lit.:D
  15. How do you like your Turkey?

fried turkey is the best. Here's a trick for you if you fry one. Get a pumpkin. Hollow it out. Make and bake your stuffing in it. It stay's nice and moist. You cant stuff a friying turkey. Also use tap water to first fill the cold pot, then put the turkey in it and cover the bird with water. Then then remove the bird and mark the water line. Then dump the water and dry the pot. This way you know how muck oil to heat up. If you use too much it will spill, not enuff you'll need to add more and it take's longer to heat up again. gooble gooble
  16. i would think that the tung oil was deeper into the wood then the hd80 could penatrate. Then you removed the poly, which acted as a airtight sealer over the oil. Now the oil mixed with the ready seal and turned black. Ill bet your going to have to re-do this job.
  17. bullet, chem's loosen and susspend the dirt. Then the washer rinse's the dirt away. Bleach kill's mold but wont susspend the dirt. What susspend's the dirt can be a couple of thing's. Sud's will susspend and some surfacent's will also do that. One very popular housewash is "emulisifer plus" and bleach. The emuilsifier will do just that, emulisifi the dirt. Then the bleach kill's the mold. When you want to get the dirt to release, you want it to release fast and efficiently. Hot water is the best way to acheive this. Next time you have egg's over easy for breakfest and wash the dish after lunch. See if it's easyer to wash that plate in cold water or hot water. Heat also cause's exspansion and cold contraction. If your trying to get dirt off the surface do you want the surface to contract and tighten the dirt molucule's or exspand the surface and spread the molocule's apart allowing the chem to penatrate to the surface and not sit on top of the dirt? if i only did wood then i would say their was no need for hot water. For homeowner work im sure you could get by without it. One problem's i see by not haveing a hot water rig is customer perception. Anyone can run down to the depot and pick-up a cold water washer and be in buissness[lol]. When i roll-up on the job people are wowed. They feel they are getting their money's worth. The neibor want's me to wash his house even though he has a washer in the garage. Why? hot water. your giveing the customer something not meny have. It's a selling point. Weather YOU believe that cold water can wash as well as hot water is IRRELLVENT. The customer KNOW'S hot water is better. i would bet you a beer that me haveing hot water and you haveing cold water and we submitted an est for a job and i was 10 to 20% higher then your bid. I would get the job. why? i look more professional and the cust know's hot water cost's more and dose a better job. i like diffrence's of opinion. It would be a boreing place to live if we did'nt agree to dis-agree. heck if i did just wood. I would buy a ford f-350 with the PTO option and run my pump right off the engine.
  18. fitz, you seem like a nice guy but "no heat" your crazy. hot water clean's better. period the end. even read the amount of rec. chem when you use cold water compared to hot. you use 50% more chem to get the same amount clean. The cost of fuel more then make's up chem cost's,quality, and speed. no hot water, now that's funny. I have chem's on my truck that i cant even mix without hot water. I mean you could butttt. oxalic acid loves warm water hd80 loves warm water maybe for what you wash it's OK not to have hot water but not mine. hot water disolves cold water relies on pressure pressure = wear do you want to wear the dirt off or disolve the dirt off? you mention house washing. I dont know if you use a x-jet but i would'nt use my x-jet to apply cleaner without heat. That would be useless. Degreaseing is useless without heat. Well ive done my best to covince you to go with heat. Good luck.
  19. how close to a battery was the container of bleach? if you put a closed container of bleach on a car battery it will blow up.
  20. if hot water will raise the grain why not apply stripper's hot then cold water strip/rinse?
  21. cannon, i did'nt say that micky d's wouldnt look for the best price on cheeze. I said they dont care about how to MAKE cheeeze. Mcdonald's has "food broker's" these broker's locate and contract diffrent seller's/mfg of food stuff's and sell it to mcdonald's. Mcdonald's dose'nt own a bakery,a cheese factory, cow's,a farm,ect......that's not their buissness. Preparring and selling food is their buissness. They do it very well. putting 1 extra katsup package in every bag would cost micky d's about 1.3 million dollar's per year. They dont care who make's it. Just about who give's them out. If your stripping 100 deck's per year, then become a dealer for a deck stripper and get better priceing.
  22. sole-you can get personaly sued corp-only the corp can get sued if you go out of buissness and are incorp. you need a lawyer and a judge to disband it.
  23. chem's should be less then 10%[more like 5%] of the cost of any est. the only exception would be the actual coating[paint,sealer,protectant,ect...] chem cost's are just added to the bottom line. With that said, i still mix soda ash, surfacent and percab bleach as my cleaner. I dont make stripper. all the rest of what i use are mix kit's for truck washing, house washing, and homeowner flatwork.
  24. they do clean the downspout's. This ned steven's is no fly by night co. i'll bet in NJ alone they clean gutter's of 300 house's a day! As far as mexican help, well their is a huge crackdown going on right now and with all the ID stuff you need to re-new your driver's lic., most wont be driveing very long. I suggest changeing your buissness name to PRO-WASH/LANDSCAPEING. Most of the trucking co. here are changeing their name's to include landscapeing. This way they can keep their help.
  25. SHURflo and Flojet users

gunn man have you ever seen a TRUE 2 step wash unit? it has twin line's and one gun. www.mobileclean.com this is more money and im sure www.tomahawkusa.com is also not up your alley. I'll tell you this. 12 volt shur-flo's and flo-jet's SUCK. I have been running hot up-stream soap for 4 year's and never had a problem. So the cheap wash unit just to push soap is a real good idea. lastly, if you have ever used a roller pump[like chem lawm, lawn rager,ect....] you would'nt even be asking about a 12 volt set-up. The extra hose is still better then lugging the cart around. Im not here to tell you your buissness but i will say that the local car lot crew use's only DI water and micofiber towel's. No soap's or chem's. water on,wipe them down, water rinse 3 guy's and about 2 car's per min. they use beach towel sized microfiber towel's. they have a roller pump, huge tank, and a towel wringer. no need for pressure. If you do a lot of car's and are going to use a flo-jet? I suggest a 120 volt flo-jet and a power inverter or generator.[use a gfi]
