Composite deck and acids
mike movila posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I have been requested to clean a composite deck that has composite floor and the railing is made of wood I cleaned the wood part and now I want neutralize the deck with acid. Correct if I am wrong my understanding is that acid is not meant to touch the composite, therefore composite should be protected -

Just curious to see what brands of Airless Sprayers others prefer or like to use. I have used a Graco but time has come to add a new one. I know that many use or make thier own, however if you use an airless sprayer which brand service you best is it Graco or Titan and what model. Thank you Mike

Titan seems to be the choice that I am leaning towards -
Olympic Renew deck restoration
mike movila replied to mike movila's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
The formula is not magic and it does not remove completely all coating. So there wa a lot of sanding involved in this process and before you take on a job make sure you charge accordingly. I started the process by using 12 ounces of HD80 and 8ounces of 633 ADD. Then I power washed the deck and applied Knock Off. This type of stripper has to be applied by airless sprayer and left overnight make sure you cover the deck after application. Also protect the house and vegetation as well otherwise you will have a mess on your hands. -

As I previously stated Ready Seal would be the product to use -
Sealer/Stain dry times
mike movila replied to h2o spray's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I have to agree with Rod two of easier stains to apply with no worries are Ready Seal as well as Bakers. They apply very well and dry quickly and maintanance is a breeze. Best of luck to you. -
One residential machine??
mike movila replied to Dave's Precision Mowing's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Dave regarding your question in regards to how many gallons it would take you to clean a two thousand square foot roof. This also depends on how dirty the roof you are cleaning is. Usually you can easily go through eighty Gallons of roof mix. Some times you also may have to reapply until the substrate is totally clean -
Beth I could not agree more with your assessment. That does not sound like thoughtful advice

I have used Prosoco products they seem to work well. A piece of advise I can give make sure you protect the copper when you do the cleaning. And in some instances some jobs are not worth the risk. So there is no shame in walking away from a job rather than creating more damages having to use your insurance to cover cost

I tried not to get on the roof if I do not have to usually you can wash roofs from a ladder much safer and if I climb on the roof I wear my cougar paws boots, would not walk on the roof without them also a fall restraint system is a must

Before tackleling this project find out exactly what type of substrate you dealing with. After that I would attemp to clean a small area to see how your cleaner works. Always start with least aggressive cleaner then work your way up from there. In addition make sure that your clients expectations are met. Show him or her a sample and see if they agree with results Best of luck to you.
