New Season around the corner
mike movila replied to mike movila's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Gordon I wish we had more sunshine in Mo as well it has not arrived yet. Andrew in my neck of the woods our winters are mostly days below freezing tempetures so when it gets this cold I choose not seek any jobs. The risks involved in working in freezing tempetures are just to great for me. -

Andrew you are one of the lucky ones to have a warm winter and be able to still work. In MO we winterized everything in December and do not start until late March. -

Cedar shake gazebo roof
mike movila replied to Chappy's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Well every time you work on a shake roof you have to wear appropriate foot wear to keep your footing also you would have to use tie down rope to make sure you do not fall. For your job I believe you should use a ladder with stabilizer. -
Cedar shake gazebo roof
mike movila replied to Chappy's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Jon from looking at the pictures you posted it appears that you can wash the shakes by applying a sodium precarbonate let it dwell for fithteen to twenty minutes then wash and follow by oxalic acid then make sure you rinse well. One thing you should keep in mind when dealing with shake wood is the softness of wood. Use appropriate pressure and use a 40 degree tip. You should be able to walk on the roof without damaging it. -
Jeff welcome to the grime scene. Every area is different as far as fees for cleaning concrete in Missouri we charge 12 cents to 15 cents a square foot. I believe the approach would be to find out what other companies are charging for cleaning concrete in your area. As far as cleaning every one is different and uses products that they like or work good for them. Personally I use EBC cleaner works for me not the most inexpensive but this is what I like the product. There are a lot company and suppliers out there that you choose from. Good luck to you.

Removing a seal from composite decking
mike movila replied to gtagumremoval's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Andrew I would contact the manufacturer to see if they would give you any suggestions first. Before I would start on the project You have to make sure that the expectations of the home owner are met. Some times when dealing with composite decking it is dificult to get everything evenly unless you apply another composite deck sealer. Good Luck. -

Tom from the pictures you posted I would certainly say you got a very good deal that looks almost brand new unit and MI-T-M are pretty reliable machines. A brand new unit such as that would cost you with tax close to $2000. -
Jake you have received a lot of advise from contractors that have tremendous experience in the industry. If you are looking to do this on the side the best advised I can give u is to find some one that is doing this kind of work full time and is willing to share some secrets with you. As a beginner you will find that there are a lot of challenges doing power washing as proffesional. Also I purchased this manual myself THE PRESSURE WASHER GUIDE you can purchase this on this forum just click on the link and find great valuable informaiton that will help you tremendously in your venture I promise you that will be money well spent.

If You are looking to purchase a telespcoping wand you may want to look at Hydrotek. They have a unit that is very light construction and very sturdy to use. Hydrotek is a bit more expensive but you get what pay for It is a very knew product. As you know Hydrotek makes very high quality products.
