American Idol - How Did YOU Vote ?
Apple Roof Cleaning replied to Apple Roof Cleaning's question in The Club House
Personally, I likes dannys voice the best. Bluesy sounding, like Joe Cocker ! Chris is too "goody goody" looking/acting for me. He sings OK. Adam is a rare animal. My girlfriend is STILL "in love" with Bo Bice ???? -

I use a RANE 24 db electronic crossover Ken. I bring the subs in 80hz. Blend is seamless in my room at that freq and cut off. IME, for best sub blending, you need a speaker with Bass of its own. OR, your sub crossing in too high ? OR, too low ? I have run a 15 hz tone through my system. Yiou dont hear it, you feel it. No sound at all, just pictures falling off walls, and the room groaning! Pretty Freaky ?? -

Here are some pics of the Monsters, LOL The drivers are quite "heroic". Yes, tubes and Analog are Sonic Nirvana, but I like Home Theatre, at the moment .... I also own JBL S412P's, and BIG Polk SRS 2's !!! The big Polks use the SDA technology, and will image clear outside the walls. Here are some audio "porn" pics :) In the third pic, you can see a JBL L7 and one of the corner mounted subs! The BIG speaker is a VMPS RM 40, a ribbon speaker. I sold both of these speaker, not good enough to make the team ! The speaker by the green couch are Von Schweikert VR 4 JR's, with a tube preamp on top. The round cylinder is an SVS Ultra Sub, replaced by the two monster subs. And finally,, the raw drivers are 15" TC Sounds LMS 4000's. They weigh 70 lbs EACH ! I have a pair of bridged pro amps delivering 2500 RMS into EACH of the subs. The Bass in the Movie "The Chronicles of Riddick" will move the furniture !! I LIKE that Movie !!! BTW, the Theil Small alignment is called an EBS alignment. My boxes are tuned to 14 HZ. This alignment is best for wall/corner mounted subs if you dont want BOOMY Bass ? You get REALLY low Bass like this, but at the expense of upper bass "kick" But the B&W woofers kick hard from 50 to 150 hz anyway. Honestly, MOST of the time I use my JBL S412P's Ken. The B&W Matrix 801's are just TOO revealing sometimes. You would like the JBL S412P's. They are warm and forgiving, like the Vienna's. The 801's will drop your jaw, when a GOOD recording is played. Unfortunately, I am an OLD Guy, stuck in the 70's and 80's Rock. Much of that is not verywell recorded. The JBLS 412P's are WAY more forgiving, and sound good on TV watching too. They spend the most time in my system. Except when I want to "impress" my audio snob bubbies, LOL Then the 801's go into the system. Yes, the Adcoms are a bit dry sounding. I JUST sold an Adcom 585, and have owned Adcom 565 Monoblocks. Honestly, I prefer the older Parasound stuff John Curl, the ex Levinson designer, did a lot of old Parasound stuff, and it sounds really good. s -

B&W 801's Ken, using the Yamaha RX V1 as a preamp for the fronts with a Luxman M 117 powering the 801's. My subs are homemade 9.5 cu ft with long throw 15's in what is called an extended bass shelf alignment, flat down to 15hz at about 130 db! I have bridged Pro Sound amps on them at 2500 RMS per subwoofer. I know ALL about the Vienna Acoustics !!! VERY Musical speakers !! My kind of sound too, warm and musical ! My 801's are "ruthless" Ken, very revealing, intolerant of junk recordings. The canadien Anthem is a great pre/pro ! Sonic Frontiers and Anthem are the same company. I had a Tube Preamp from them, great company. I respect the Velodynes, Had the SVS Ultra Cylinders Subs, a pair of them. Wanted to build something, so I made my subs. The look like the bass cabinets from a Klipschorn, go in the corners. You have a VERY nice system Ken, good musicality. I bet the Adcom and the Viennas are a good match, the speed/neutrality of the big Adcom a good match with the warmth of the Viennas ? I have a Tube DAC I use too, with NOS Mullard Tubes in it. GOOD to see a fellow Audiophile out here !! -

I LOVED it Ken !!! You know I am into High End Audio BIG TIME ? Watched it in full Yamaha RX V1 DSP. I have 8 speakers arrayed around my room, including two monster Subwoofers I designed/built The acoustics were wonderful. Watched it in my 73 inch Mitsubishi DLP in HD :) -
BEST thing you can do is write GOOGLE an email !!! Maybe they will throw him OUT of searches ?

Dueling Shurflos
Apple Roof Cleaning replied to RPetry's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Depends on the chemical concentration you neeed ? I know nothing about wood or caustic work, or the chemical concentrations required. But I do know a dedicated chemical pump will give you exactly what you mix, every time. -

Maybe it is TIME you consider an Air Diapraghm Pump ? ONE air diapraghm pump will replace BOTH of these pumps. My pump is 14 GPM, but I clean big roofs. Yoiu can easily get by with a 1/4 inch Air Diapraghm pump that is way more chemical proof. I have seen these pumps under 200.00 all day long! You will need a small air compressor to run it, but so what ? It will WORK for you, and make you money :) This is what you need, a 3/8 KYNAR pump with Santroprene Diapraghms, or Teflon, whatever costs less ? http://www.dultmeier.com/catpages.asp?page=E0048 -

If you look at the Chemical chart I posted in this thread, Viton is an iffy thing with Caustics,'SOME Viton is ok, depends on what the Viton is combined with ? This is a Delavan Fat Boy PowerFlo Diaphragm Pumps It does use Viton Valves, but like the chart says, Viton can work. EDPM is the elastomer of choice for Caustics, but I think you MAY be burning up pumps because of the motors ? In THAT case, the Delevan Fat Boy is your pump. It has a MUCH better motor. -

Are you exceeding the duty cycle of the pump ? Tell me about how you use it ? -

Apple Roof Cleaning replied to RPetry's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Viton is GREAT for SHC - BAD for Caustics like Sodium and Potassium Hydroxide ! EDPM is indicated for Caustic Use, and pretty good for Sodium Hypoichlorite too. So, a good dual purpose caustic/chlorine use shurflo pump will use EDPM as opposed to Viton. Here is a chemical compatability chart Fluid (such as Selenic Acid) Compatibility Chart with elastomers As you can see, EDPM is a better choice for a dual purpose pump ? -

The Center for Disease Control has issued a medical alert about a highly contagious, potentially dangerous virus that is transmitted orally, by hand, and even electronically. This virus is called Weekly Overload Recreational Killer (WORK). If you receive WORK from your boss, any of your colleagues or anyone else via any means whatsoever - DO NOT TOUCH IT!!! This virus will wipe out your private life entirely. If you should come into contact with WORK you should immediately leave the premises. Take two good friends to the nearest liquor store and purchase one or both of the antidotes - Work Isolating Neutralizer Extract (WINE) and Bothersome Employer Elimination Rebooter (BEER). Take the antidote repeatedly until WORK has been completely eliminated from your system. You should immediately forward this medical alert to five friends. If you do not have five friends, you have already been infected and WORK is controlling your life.
