I use the hand scoop method. Get an extension handle, put your scoop on the end and you can clean 8 foot either side of the ladder.

I do not have one, but they make both propane fired and diesel fired burners. You have one type and the pic is of the other type, maybe? -

Good job Larry, everything you taught me -
1) Garbage transfer trailers, they were replacing the "walking floor" and had to clean out all the old rotten remains in the floor cracks. $75.00/hour 2) Pigeon crap, in the emergency exit stairwells from a theater. same, $75.00 hour

Jim, that was a 05 post. -
What should an IPE deck look like before staining ? We bought a new house last year. Deck is 4 years old IPE. I don't know if it was ever stained or not. It was gray and I attempted to clean it. When wet, it looks a nice dark red, after it dries its brown. When wet and looking red it is not an even color, some blotches. Does it need more cleaning/stripping ? If so with what? F18 ok?

yea its hot and humid. Was suppose to do a house wash today but I called said Wed is looking much better, 10 degrees cooler.

IPE question
Doug T replied to Doug T's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
OK thanks for the help. Mine is darker than the dry one that Petry showed, when wet it is not as "rich" and clear as the one Celeste showed. So I'm thinking it neds to be cleaned and stripped better. I'll try that with some F18 that I have. I'll try to post pics when I get my cable. Mfg says 7-10 days to get it. Their warehouse is about 1hr 15 min from here but they won't allow me to pick it up. But it was a free camera from the Alabama rt so can't complain. I know there was a reason I never wanted to do wood before. LOL. Its a good learning experience, my own deck, no hurry do it as I can. -
IPE question
Doug T replied to Doug T's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I have photos, but don't have the cable to down load from the camera. Can't find one locally so trying tomorrow from the mfg. -
after staining a pine deck it looked good. Now a week latter the customer calls and says there are light spots all over like there was not enough stain. So I go look and all the light spots are around the knots. Used WTW WHG. any ideas? I found one earlier post that mentioned it but I'm not sure if it is normal or not. If not, how do I correct it.

With the new update, are some of the old forums gone? I don't see some that used to be here.

Test spots for Wood Restoration( DECKS)
Doug T replied to James's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
That's good Jim, a "consulting fee" -
Would appreciate some help on a deck problem. Last night I tried a test of stripping the deck with F18. Mixed some up strong, splashed a small spot, let dwell 12-15 minutes and then rinsed off. Was not pleased with the results. Went back tonight to see what it looked like dry and still not pleased. Customer had it stained 2 or 3 years ago and the first year started having problems with it coming up. They are trying to contact the prior contractor to see what was used but I have not heard back yet. I took some pics tonight but have no idea on how to post. Bear with me while I try. I have done a few decks (5-6) but all were PTP and I have no idea what wood this is, certainly does not look like PTP<

OK, now that the pics posted...The first and last pics, where the "lighter" area is next to the black spot is where I splased the F18. Other pics are just general condition of the deck. Any suggestion?

check to make sure your injector is installed the correct way. There is normally an arrow showing direction of water flow stamped on the unit. -
