I do a number of roofs every year. This one is in Rockland county and you need a Rockland county license. I have had 2 calls in 4 years, not worth the $600 they want for a license.

In my experience it's not just this industry. I no not know why but I have had the problem for the last 6-12 months, it's never been so hard to spend money.

Just curiosity, there was a discussion on one of the BBS awhile back in regards to surface cleaner leaving swirl marks from walking to fast. If the bar can spin faster then one should be able to walk faster without leaving the swirl marks. And part of the discussion was if there is a difference between the mfg's of the swivel.

This past weekend I had a chance to do some "testing" and thought you might like to know the results.
I used a Pressure Pro 8gpm, 3000PSI cold water machine, with 50' of 3/8 hose and measured the RPM of the spray bar on three different surface cleaners.
1) A 24" "Alkota" made by Steel Eagle.(I bought the unit used and I believe the swivel is a Dublein) This unit has two 1535 tips because I use it with a 6gpm hot box. With a pressure gage at the surface cleaner reading 2950 the RPM of the bar was 1140.
2) A 24" Steel Eagle with 1545 tips and a Mosmatic swivel and spray bar, same set up, at 2700PSI the RPM of the bar was 1120.
3) A 30" Steel Eagle with 1545 tips and a Talon III swivel and Steel Eagle spray bar, 2950PSI and 860 RPM
I drilled a hole through the upper part of the surface cleaner right above the spray bar/nozzle junction and used an Extech lazer tachometer to measure the RPM.
I guess I'm a little surprised at how "slow" the bars actually spin. With most swivels rated for 2000RPM, I thought they would be faster

How far it will spray will depend on your machine's gpm/psi. 20' to 40' depending on machine, I'd guess. You can find them at most hardware/HomeDepot/Lowes. They are found in the plumbing section. Brass with pipe threads on one end, hose barb on the other.

As I recall, he used to be a pilot for Pan Am. But I thought he died in a boating accident?IIRC, he died in the boating accident and then was a Pan Am pilot.

To lower the psi, just increase the tip size.

Try www.dcs1.com , or 800 433 2113, there in Ft. Worth. Their RK-40 is on sale for $4195. 8 gpm, 3000psi, 200F. great service. I have had 5 of their machine over the years and it's work out well.

pressure switch normally controls the solenoid, I would suspect that is your problem. Normally the thermostat, pressure switch and overtemp protector are in series and if any one of them opens it cuts power to the solenoid

If space is a major concern, I'd look at the E-spec set up. Otherwise I'd go with separate machines. I'm pretty sure you can get 8@3500 for about $3500, unless you are looking specific engine/pump configurations.
