  1. I dont know if anyone remembers the Twp 200 cedar pic he posted of his deck after one year that looked incredible next to where he moved the door mat? Twp 200 (radscon, which bakers is blended with) dries very slow on smooth deck surfaces & has lots of pigment, but lasts. Its high solids & very low Voc.. Just found out yesterday that there is a woodie here in the SF bay area that blends 500 series Twp with 200 to thin it down & so it will penetrate faster & dry quicker. It supposedly holds up very well. I used to blend 300 ser.& 500 ser. together for years, it used to hold up very well, almost to good, just got to expensive.
  2. I've found with acrylics & heavy alkyds the harder the wood the harder it is to strip. (If it was prepped correctly)
  3. I have had a Silver Eagle Phoenix Propane unit (7gpm-4000psi)for 5 years, its been a good machine. Just this year replaced the flow switch(general pump) & unloader(K-7). Same components that are on hundreds if not thousands of pressure washers. The SS welded chassis is still in tact. Oh by the way, I replaced the belts last year, that was my fault, they had been a little loose for a couple years & never tightened them. I like the pump plate mount system, everything stays aligned nicely.
  4. While Beth isn't looking :)

Yes to all the above, Great job BETH & ROD!!!
  5. Help with pricing

At your railing price, you are doing your railing for less than half the sq ft price of the floor. I would advise not to roll the deck floor. Use paint & stain pads or good 6" brush. Some guys use small rollers (whizz type) on spindles. You must remember, if you are acting as a professional, you need professional equipment, knowledge & experience. There is a lot to quality wood restoration, the right chems,(cleaners & neutralizers/brighteners) the right pressure (Low) the right prep before you stain/seal, a good quality stain/sealer (not Thompsons) otherwise you are just someone who thinks this is something easy to do a make a buck. A hack as they say and as others have stated, giving the industry a bad reputation. Knowledge & Experience is Power.
  6. downstreaming questions

I believe the volume stays the same, its just the pressure that is reduced. It may depend on the unloader. I took off a al607 unloader from a4000psi machine & put on a K-7 unloader with was 3500psi max & didnt loose any volume just 500 psi. that I didnt use anyway.
  7. Hot and mighty PW

I had a MI-T-M 3005 for about 5 yaers & sold it to a friend / competitor & he's used it for 5 years. Rebuilt the general pump head once. Good machine, very dependable.
  8. one man crews

10 ft box truck & 6x14 enclosed single axle trailer, have a back up cold water unit, & a Ford Aerostar that could pull trailer if needed.
  9. Pics of my standup sanders; 8 & 12" drum, 17" circulars, 12x18" & 12x24" orbitals.
  10. Exhaust flex tubing

Your generators are stationary? On my old setup I tack welded a pipe nipple to the muffler & then the the flex tube to nipple then cut a hole in the floor with a hole saw & ran it out the bottom with an insulator around it.
  11. Adrian, I bought all my sanders except for the 12" drum used from rentals yards. Havent had a problem with any of them, they usually let you rent it once to try it & then apply the rental toward the purchase. The square buff is needing new rubber isolators, but Ive had it for 8 years.
  12. Just decks, always thought about doing floors but never did.

This might be my next toy, If I ever make some money.
  15. You CAN fall in love at 56

Here is an example of the coarse brush. The first pic is a section of redwood that I strripped off a solid stain with HD 80. Most redwood fuzzes up real bad with a long dwell hd 80 strip, even with a 500 psi wash. The 2nd pic is after the 17" maintainer with the coarse brush. ( lower one in the previous post) Rick, now you know why I love all my equipment & modified gadgets.

Works great on redwood & cedar! There are different pads from coarse to fine. I also have brushes from coarse ro fine. The brushes work like Osborne brushes.
  17. Torsion or Leaf Spring?

If your going tandem axle just go leaf. Single torsion axles bounce a lot less & you can get a lower deck with a torsion axle. My small trailer is a 2005 single torsion axle 6x12 Well Cargo loaded almost to the max. has served me well, no problems. in 4 years.
  18. I edited my post. Thats for wood so I get more useable water. I use a 10gpm tip for high pressure.
  19. Deck Prep

You want to keep the rpm around 1200 on the defelting & I go up to 1500 with 80grit Osborne brush.
  20. You can tie them together with a tee fitting & jumper hoses. Pressure should be similar. Both machines need to have pressure type unloaders & not flow actuated unloaders. My 3700-4gpm & 3500-5.5 gpm work together that way. I use a dual lance wand & a 25degree 20gpm tip on wood.
  21. How new is the asphalt? Most of the liquids that work well will sometimes bleach out newer asphalt/slurry coatings. "Oil Eater" works well. Found at random stores & at Costco(Costco is best deal) "Purple Power" works well to. You can rent a floor maintainer with a scrub brush also. The liquid cleaners I just spray on with pump sprayer, feather out edges with light mist & then wet edges with water then power wash.
