  1. Concrete staining

Tony here is another source for a water-base concrete stain, good color selection. Good luck with this venture. « Concrete Stains & Supplies« Decorative Concrete Engraving Systems | Engrave-A-Crete
  2. Cedar fix

I mounted my plywood on to a furniture dolley so we could roll barbecues & large planters around.
  3. Biggest trailer you can use

+1 I run a 7x14 enclosed. 16' would be max for me in Ca., too many tight turns etc.
  4. Yea!! A good sand job, Looks Awesome! Good job guys!
  5. Jim, Whats your take, Did your MCedar have that red of a cast? Other pics Ive seen of Mcedar here & on PT state dont look red.
  6. Thanks all for appreciating the beauty of my customers wonderfull deck, & Armstrong - Clark for a high quality beautifull finish to keep it that way. A little history. That deck was replaced in 1990-91 & this owner has been there for I think 12 years & was restored (sanded) 6-7 yrs. ago & maintained every 2-3 yrs. Thanks again for recognizing this wonderfull deck & my efforts. Lyle
  7. Website Theft

I'll bet the bus. owner doesnt have a clue. I'll lay odds that the web designer stole the mat. & that the owner thought they did a fantastic job.
  8. Picture Time

Nice work Charlie, they look great!
  9. I just stripped a job I clean & seal every year of 3 layers of WTW. Hd 80 at 8 oz /gal 15 -20 dwell in the shaded areas & 5-10 min. in the sun run came right off. Just stick to your word that you'll save them some $ on just go in & strip em & get it over with & keep your customers(unless you dont need them) . Go in & spray your chem & by the time you get the hoses out you'll be ready to wash.
  10. Kevin, I used the maintainer w/ sanding drive pad w/36gr, then 12x18 orbital w/60gr. Checkout this thread. http://www.thegrimescene.com/forums/wood-cleaning-restoration-decks-fences-etc/16512-proper-use-floor-sander.html
  11. +1 Rick, you trying to tell us something! LOL
  12. Ahhh... I'm back on a bike again

I rode one of those, awesome bike.
  13. Beth looks outstanding! I love that color combo as well. How old is that deck?
  14. What did you use to clean it with, percarb,F-18? Sanding isprobably the only way to mask it. I had some thing similar once when HO washed the their deck, & the Son decided to write his name on the deck, you really couldnt see that it ate in to the wood just left darker color. We sanded it what I would say was a medium sand & you could still see it faintly. You may have to sand it pretty hard.
  15. Application techniqes play alot in the factor also, there is a balance of how everyone interpits what we all desribe as our methods & # of coats. I will do as you do on some decks, (spray then brush) for the most part I put a heavy wet coat & back brush once or twice,(drier wood twice) there is average about 15 minutes between each backbrush, and as you know a truck brush holds a lot of material, so each of my backbrushes is like adding another light coat each time. I like your method, a little faster, I dont spray much here cause its always so breezy/windy. (except for ralings) I havent seen any differences in dept of color or overall appearance when I use either method. Armstong is a great product for this method. Is it ac that you are describing your better appearance with the 2 coat, or your unknown secret sauce or both. Everybody have a great day!
  16. Tony, I wouldnt think so, there really isnt much in the way of extractives or sap in or near the knots. Around the hard knots is that area of drier wood that just sucks up sealer, till you get into the "normal" wood.
  17. Here is my take on this thread, We solved the issue of the Super Cedar being a toner & not a semi tran or solid. I would have made the same assumption. The other issue I see is the application & volume of application of Armstrong. Many choose to apply 2 coats, that is great, & a personal choice. Excessive application can be acheived with this product with no ill effects (in most appications) except to the pocket book, re too much labor spent & too much spent on materials. TRUST ME, Ive been there way too many times. Armstrong states a 2nd coat can be applied if the 1st coat absorbs in 20 minutes, But is not NECESSARY. Like I said I'm very guilty of this, I'm a quality freak. SO anyway, It comes down to having FAITH in a high quality product/company (thats had the same formula for 9 years) & what they recommend. Sorry for the long post.
  18. I did a deck 2weeks ago that applied a what I would say is a med. wet coat of Armstrong, came back the next day & applied another med. wet coat. Came back the next day & the deck looked the same as after the 1st day after I put on 1 med coat. I'm sticking with my 1 heavy wet coat applied with truck brush & backbrushed twice as I continue.
  19. Here is a pic of a WTW, WHG color deck 2 years old, full sun. I'm going to redo in Armstrong toner custom color.
  20. All the more reason to seal with in the first year. Sounds like there may be alot more sanding needed for sure.
