  1. Hey guys I have a customer who wants her patio furniture cleaned and stained with penofin oil (the vendor insists on penofin) The furniture is made out of Brazilian cherry wood. It's two years old and never had a stain applied. I use restore a deck cleaners for most jobs. Is this cleaner suitable or should I look into one for more exotic woods? Do I need to sand? I'd imagine it being nearly impossible to sand due to the density of the wood. Any tips for when I stain? Should I apply with a rag and maybe add some drying agents? Thanks! PS. This isn't what I usually do for work. I restore natural stone and the odd time I'll do a deck for a customer as I just love working outdoors!! This is an old customer of mine and I want the best results for her. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  2. Any idea of what kind of wood this is? Customer emailed me and is a couple hours away. She wants it restored and the manufacturer said to only use penofin oil. I'm thinking of sanding and applying AC stain to the customers choice. Any input would be great. Thanks Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  3. Thanks guys. What's the dilution ratio of the Japan drier? Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  4. You should ask them if they're interested in getting their concrete cleaned around the pool. :) Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  5. Deck pricing

I specialize in marble restoration and the odd time I take on the customers deck if it's not in too bad shape. I've never done a fence so that's why I asked here. Thanks Rod. I quoted 4$ a Sq ft. Usually $3.25 for decks Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

  8. I have restore a deck cleaner and brightener that I use. When I go to reseal a deck with another coat of Armstrong Clark do I need to brighten as well or just clean? Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  9. I have a customer with a stain on her porch and doesn't seem to know hot it got there as she just moved in. I believe it's old wax. Any one have any solutions on how to remove it? Thanks
  10. Black stain on front porch.

Thanks Rod. Would you wet the towel or leave it dry?
  11. Got a call from a customer today saying they stained their brand new cedar deck with a product from home depot two years ago and now it looks awful. Now this isn't a regular stain. This is that "deck restore" coating they sell at home depot. It's very thick and feels rough and grainy. Anyway I attached a couple pics to give you guys an idea. How would you guys tackle this? I'm thinking of sanding with a low grit. Strip, brighten and then sand between the boards. And stain with a semi solid AC. What do you guys think?
  12. I just gave the fence a sand today. The grist was all worn off just the colour was present and came off nicely with my orbital. Our home depots don't carry that product up here in Canada. I used a product called "super remover". I then scraped the chunks off the surface as well as in between boards by hand. I then used the stripper from "restore a deck" and pressured washed it off. The next step was sanding which I started with a 20 grit and finished at 60. I will be staining first thing next week. Happy this one is finished.
  13. If any of you come across a deck like this. Run, run far away.
  14. Well, just about finished sanding and for some reason he wants to go with the driftwood AC stain. Says he doesn't care if some of the Orange from the previous stain. I was trying to push a solid stain but ah well. Hopefully he's happy when it's finished.
  15. The roof is made of black copper and there are streaks of black going on to the walls which is limestone. Any idea on how to remove such stain?
  16. Deck was only a year old when they applied and it's been two years since. I won't be doing this project till the spring. Not looking forward to it.
  17. Where the product is loose you can literally take it off with your finger nail. However, 250sq ft where little sun hits is still in good shape with no peeling.
  18. Hey guys. I am not going to say anything negative about the stain, it is much better than any products I have used in Canada. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
  19. I stripped the boards down in about an hour. Very happy to see how easily it came off. Looked like oil washing off the deck. Didn't harm any of the vegetation. I have been reading that a lot of people are applying two coats. I apply a heavy coat and a then a thin coat wet on wet with a brush. Do you guys think that's sufficient? Any one come back a couple days later and decide a second coat is necessary? Or is that a waste of time? Oh and installing the vents tomorrow afternoon. Thanks for the help guys. 20. It is not a bad batch. I used from the same pale so stain my deck and it still looks amazing. I am not doubting A/C products. I just wondering if anyone else has seen wear Iike this after a year. When I recoat, should I strip and apply the stain or would applying over top be enough? Thanks Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
  21. Thanks guys. I used restore a deck cleaning and brightening. I came back and sanded with a 60grit. Applied the stain by brush and I highly doubt I applied too much. The weather was really hot and sunny. A/C claims that it can be applied in the heat and Sun. I am wondering if lack of airflow could be the issue. Minimal spacing between the boards and has deck boards on the border going flush with the grass. Has anyone had issues with lack of airflow. It's cedar wood if that makes a difference. No bleach was used. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
  22. Black stains on limestone walls

Confused because I would expect the stain to be green if it was from the copper roof. Hopefully just some pressure will remove it. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
  23. We had a condo where all stone had to be cleaned and sealed. Polishing and repairs were included if necessary. The builders requested an hourly rate for billing. If you are working for a homeowner there can be no way you can give an hourly rate. They usually don't understand the costs of operating a business. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
