Removing Bird Droppings
RogerG replied to Aplus's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
This thread needs reviving after today's experience! This photo is one of over a half dozen "splats" we had to deal with on our current Ipe project. Regular birds will never seem to be an issue again - LOL. Note the size of the pelican poop next to Celeste's size 7 shoe! -
Stripping IPE wood
RogerG replied to Tom DeFrancesco's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Here's some ugly proof that Ipe is NOT indestructable and can be damaged by a turbo tip in inexperienced hands! -
tank plumbing question
RogerG replied to Curb Appeal's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Your bypass will not have alot of pressure on it. You can use hose clamps on the hose with no problems. I had better results with 1" hose, you can get a barb fitting that 1" hose barb with a 3/4" thread. Roger -

How would you handle this?
RogerG replied to PressurePros's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Good luck, you might be right about the Ready Seal. You shouldn't get the lap marks with it. Roger -
How would you handle this?
RogerG replied to PressurePros's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Hi Ken I think that I would ask the homeowner when they are going to leave for work. It should be dry enough for them to tip-toe across when they get home. If you could find a few that worked on 2nd shift that would be nice, because you could stain the first shift decks in the morning and the second shift in the afternoon. Another idea is stain in the morning and clean in the afternoon. Just depends on when everyones goes to work. Roger -
Hey Paul, Full time here in NC is a good thing! We're here if you need anything - Good Luck! Roger

spot treating with oxalic question
RogerG replied to CB works's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I don't know where you can get it down there. You want burn the grass, by the time the chems reach the grass they will be diluted. You can soak the ground that you think the runoff will go, that will help also. Roger -

I would use SafeRestore from EacoChem, it will remove the rust and not brighten the concrete. Roger -
My first Wood Job
RogerG replied to daryl's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Hi Daryl, If your fence has never been stained before you can use a EFC-38 (percarb) on it. If you need to strip a stain of you need to use HD-80 then citralic. There are other percarbs and stripers out there that work well, this is what I use. Fell free to call me. Roger -
The MND-80 should do the trick try if before SafeRestore. Roger

I've got some downstream questions
RogerG replied to CCPC's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Hi Dan, I also have 200' of hose but I don't have any problems with drawing chems. Where do you have your downstreamer mounted? I have mine mounted on the hose reel then the jumper hose from the burner screwed into it. Dan when I moved my downsteamer I thought that I had the arrow pointing in the right direction but come to find out it wasn't. Try flipping it around to see if that will work. Roger -
Check www.pitchwitch.com Glen sales skids also. Roger

One thing that you have to know is that S/M is a heavy chem, it will dives down. On a deck there is no problem with this but on a house there is. When it dives down on a house wash then it's going to the ground and taking some of your chems with it. To stop it from diving to the ground you have to put a foamer in your mix to make it stay up on the wall like you need it to.Steve sells a good foamer at his online store. Roger

Looks good Brent, post pics of it stained. Roger -
I know what you are talking about, I've had a Bobcat try to get in the tree with me one morning. It will ruin a good deer hunt. The tub looks great also. Roger

Solid stained deck
RogerG replied to RogerG's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Thanks everyone, the homeowner hated her deck after she stained it. She said that after she put the stain down it rained the next morning and the stain bubbled up, so she sanded what was lifting off and reappled the stain. That made for a big mess! Roger -
Hey Jeff, Instead of mounting it on a ATV you could put this on a one of those carts with no sides on them, and your guy can just pull it along as he needs too. 15 Gal. ATV Sprayer--TSC # 2135908--1.4 Gal. Per Minute Pump @ 45 P.S.I. 15 Ft. Hose With Trigger Handgun 40 In. Boom With 2 Flood Spray Nozzles. Roger
