Quick question on basic chems for concrete
bulletproof replied to Tristan Jones's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Many concrete cleaning chems have potassium hydroxide in them, but, I think that for a pool deck, some 10 or 12% and dish soap will do -
I'm with Russ bd200:lgjump: but simple cherry is good too

Downstream vs. X-Jet?
bulletproof replied to ordep81's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Both methods are very effective at getting chems where you want them to be, and both have their downsides. A work around for having to wheel a cart around with the x-jet is adding longer hose, but it means more hose to get tangled up on trees and plants and other hose and even you. I know about pressure hose blow outs over time in the middle of a job when downstreaming, chem spouting everywhere. Not that I choose one over the other but at least you would be able to complete the job if you had the x-jet as backup. And that's what I do ,keep one as a backup for the other. -
As an alternative to the Deckster, you may also want to check out the deck rig that Scott Paul (the pro sealer store ) sells on his site. Its made with a 2gpm delevan and about 25' of hose with some other goodies, or get Bob to custom make one for you with the battery boxes and extra hose.

Recent dock job. This was a solid acrylic strip really tough. I did have some before pics but they got deleted. Ready Seal Dark Red is the color. -

Lol yes things are expensive here because we only regulate what we call bread basket items (locally produced) the sky is the limit to a degree on the imported stuff. And that price is cheap compared to what you would pay on some of our other family islands -

Thanks guys you're very encouraging -
I recently installed a k7 unloader on my 3500 psi 3.5 gpm direct drive pump (comet66dx).The installation appeared to be straight forward but for some reason the machine is now consistently blowing the 3/8 hose that comes from the unloader bypass (to what I think goes) back to the pump. The only thing that I did in addition to swapping out the old unloader was to change out the fitting at the pressure relief valve to a straight 3/8 barb, could this be the problem? I mean as soon as I turn on the water supply it blows a hole in the hose. Any help on how to rectify this would be great.

Unloader Bypass Problem
bulletproof replied to bulletproof's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Thanks so much for the help. Two more question though. When I return the trv do I need to plumb it to anything or can I just leave it. If I am understanding what I am being told, I need to attach the barb to the lower fitting that I have pointed out in the attached photo -
Is it? I'm wondering the same thing

bulletproof posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Can anyone provide an msds for simple cherry or at least say what chems it is comprised if. I am really interested in buying a powder for housewashing but I want to know whats in it so that I can compare it to other chems that I've used and/or heard good things about -
Thoughts on Stripper
bulletproof replied to rj242's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
What if you intend to put down a different type of stain, similar color, but different type? I am presently stripping a deck done with Sherwin Williams natural waterbourne semi-transparent. I am getting between 90-95% of it off. Do I need to get every spec of it off to re-apply with ready seal natural cedar semi? -

How to get started in Window Cleaning Business?!
bulletproof replied to DARCO_PM's topic in Window & Gutter Cleaning
Window Cleaning Shop This is where I get my window cleaning supplies. Great prices , lots of variety quick shipping. I use microfiber cloths for residential cleaning and polishing and the squeegees in the sizes mentioned for commercial work. Ladder standoffs and stabilizers are 2 other must haves. My brand of choice is Ettore -

Sodium Percarbonate Mix
bulletproof replied to GymRat's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
.don't mix it in a closed or covered container! Now you tell us, lol ,I did this a couple weeks ago and it foamed up and caused the container to swell. I thought it would burst before I could get to the jobsite. Before reading this, I thought it was the dawn I added that caused it to react. Does anyone know why it does that in a closed container? -

Stripping Deckscapes
bulletproof posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
How hard is it to strip Deckscapes waterbourne applied about two weeks ago. Get this, two neighbours decided to have their decks stained. I qouted both of them, but only one decided to go with me. The other decided to go with their handyman. My deck came out nice but the neighbour isn't pleased with theirs. This guy laid it on real thick like paint so its shiny and unnatural looking. They went with cedar on theirs and my people chose the natural. Now they want their deck re-stained by me this time. I've already told them what needs to be done and they are willing to pay the cost of their previous decision. I have about 5 gals of RM 2X from Steve Rowlette. Any ideas on dwell time, ratio etc. -
I did my first deck the other day never stained before, completely greyed. Came out real nice. I used 2lbs house helper per 5. I mixed in about 4oz joy dishwashing liquid. The mix started foaming like crazy. In all my research I never read that you can't mix dishwashing liquid with a percarb or maybe it might have just been something in the joy. That first batch was totally ineffective. Had to mix another one without the joy this worked well. I have a 4gpm machine so I used a 4010 and 2510 to rinse I think this was about 600 plus psi. I got fuzzies throughout the deck. Wwhat causes this. Too much pressure maybe too close to the surface or something else what is the most likely candidate for being the cause. I am scheduled to stain this deck tomorow using deckscapes waterbourn transparent - natural. I want to use a soda keg sprayer to apply, anyone else using these, what should I look out for, any advice would be valuable
