Question for NC and SC PWer's
douseahouse replied to MudDuck's question in Residential Pressure Washing
also in charlotte is a company named univar that sells 12.5. i buy from watergard in wilson as they have a truck that runs through fayetteville on weds. give shannon a call at 2522375205 and see if she has a truck that runs through your area. you can buy in 5, 15, or 55 gallon drums. rando -
i was cleaning up the van and found some 2lb. bags of percarb that i had purchased from rowlett in the past. i cannot remember what would be a standard mix ratio (downstreaming or pumpup) on cleaning a deck but do remember that this stuff has a short life span. need your input on this one gang. rod? beth? ken? kevin? where are my woodies? also, educate me on this stuff if you feel like it. thanks, rando

sodium percarb

at least one year beth, do i need to file it? rando -
as squirt mentined bob and russ are your two best and most trusted vendors that i know of. i realize that you're not bashing bob but just concerned about your shipping costs. if the shipping costs are a bit high i'm sure that there is a logical explanation. the more you deal with bob and russ you'll find out just how valuable they are to your business. good luck, rando

Methods on reaching high gutters to clean?
douseahouse replied to alvisishere's question in Residential Pressure Washing
i bought the 24ft telescopic from lowes (i think) and put a brush on the end. i use an oil change bucket to hold my green stuff or whatever i'm using at the time and then dip my brush in and apply to the gutters. i rinse with the 0030 or xjet and watch them shine. here's a pic of one i did using the telescopic. yes, it was a pita but it paid well. i just added a pic of the pail i use for the gutter cleaner. i like the spout so i can pour the unused gutter cleaner into a container. rando -
it's easier to just replace it then try to keep troubleshooting it since it is an intermittent problem. bob sells them and i believe they are less or around $20. mine busted during the winter and was a piece of cake to replace. check the reed switch as mentioned, it can move around. rando

Is This Price Too Low ?
douseahouse replied to Apple Roof Cleaning's question in Residential Pressure Washing
it may be how they price things in raleigh but definitely not how i price things in fayetteville. houses are big in raleigh and there is plenty of money in that city so he's working for peanuts if you ask me. rando -
Walk Behind Water Jet Recommendations
douseahouse replied to Randy's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
i've learned that the streaks are not always the area that you missed or went too fast over. streaks are also caused by too much overlapping and one area getting cleaner than another. there was a thread on this in the past so a search may reveal some new answers. rando -
at the end of last season i noticed that my hot water burner assembly now has a leak. i took off the lid and sure enough the coil has a hole in it somewhere. i was told that it can be welded if the hole is accessable. my problem is i cannot get the darn coil out. does anyone have any experience on this issure? thanks, rando

hydrotek heating coil
douseahouse replied to douseahouse's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
hey russ if you're still there, first off, thanks for talking to me on the phone and helping me with this heating coil. guess what? it's out! on this particular coil it has a shell around it and appears to be welded to the shell so that is why the whole thing had to come out. i am going to clean it up and pressure test it with air to see exactly where my hole is. i can see where the deflection plate was welded on underneath has broken and that may be where the leak is. i hope so as a welder can get to that one. thanks again all for your help. rando -
hydrotek heating coil
douseahouse replied to douseahouse's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
russ, this thing is apparently extremely heavy. my friend and i tried to get it out today but it would not budge. tomorrow i will use a jack mounted over the unit. now tell me, does the coil only come out or does the coil and the outer housing come out together. mine has an outer housing around the coil and then there is insulation and then the outer housing. when i try to move the coil it seems like it is connected to the housing around it. hey man, thanks for you input. rando -
i've heard so many positive things about citra-kleen i wanted to try it but i'm having trouble finding steve rowlett's website. any feedback on this product and the website will be appreciated. rando

hydrotek heating coil
douseahouse replied to douseahouse's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
the nipples are out and the coil is ready to remove. russ, what do you mean by removing the burner head alone. there is a plate welded in the middle of the coil on top...is this it? thanks, rando -
let me clarify i hope, if i were to put my injector hose into 12.5% straight and downsteamed at 10:1 then i would be applying the shc at 1.25% strength. if i put 2.5 gallons of 12.5% and 2.5 gallons of water in a bucket and then downstreamed at 10:1 then my shc% would be at .625%. this is how i determine that my housewash only uses around 1% shc or so. i mentioned bleach since most homeowners have never heard of sodium hypochlorite. and yes, i realize that 1% bleach and 1% shc are not the same thing but thanks for the heads up. rando

hydrotek heating coil
douseahouse replied to douseahouse's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
unfortunately the leak is somewhere in the middle of the coil. i removed the top lid and confirmed that already. john orr, it would be nice if you would warranty this item since i bought it from you...just kidding john, i'm happy with the deal you gave me. thanks for the input russ but after talking to the hydrotek service tech it appears that i just need to remove the nipples on each end of the coil and lift it straight up. it's going to be a little heavy and i'm definitely going to need a little help on this one. do you make house calls john? rando -
gosh, i didn't even spell it right. do you have a standard mix that you recommend jeff? thanks, rando
-
well, i actually tell my customers the straight out truth and you probably are too but don't realize it. i tell them that my house wash only contains approximately 1% shc, or bleach, and is essential in removing mold and mildew. you also can tell them about the other goodies that you add (example: simple cherry) and how it works with the bleach to remove the spots on walls, ceilings, and windows. if you sound excited and confident about your house wash then it will sell itself. good luck, rando

winter is here, what's your plan
douseahouse replied to CLASSICPW's question in Residential Pressure Washing
in my case i'm happy to be a part timer. i work the day shift in maintenance for the local goodyear tire plant. believe it or not but i am an electrician by trade but never pursued getting my license to do residential wiring. i've always regretted not doing that. during the summer i have no problem finding someone on the night shift that will trade out with me so i can free up my days if need be. i need 6 more years to have my 30 years of service so i can retire with full benefits (medical). i'll then consider leaving goodyear and doing this on a regular basis. hopefully you guys will still be around to hold my hand if necessary. i'm like you ken, i have no desire to spray water when it is cold. rando -
i finally got to use my free sample of restora from flood. i used it on faded shutters and it did indeed return the luste that the sun had taken away. i applied it late in the day (rookie mistake) and it stayed wet overnight. i had a little bit of product run behind the shutter and onto the vinyl siding. i used some of my spray graffiti remover to get most of it off but i was wondering if there is anything out there that anyone has used before with better success. the homeowner probably won't even notice but since i know it's there i want to do something about it. let me know, rando
