it may be how they price things in raleigh but definitely not how i price things in fayetteville. houses are big in raleigh and there is plenty of money in that city so he's working for peanuts if you ask me.

i've learned that the streaks are not always the area that you missed or went too fast over. streaks are also caused by too much overlapping and one area getting cleaner than another. there was a thread on this in the past so a search may reveal some new answers.

hey russ if you're still there,
first off, thanks for talking to me on the phone and helping me with this heating coil. guess what? it's out! on this particular coil it has a shell around it and appears to be welded to the shell so that is why the whole thing had to come out. i am going to clean it up and pressure test it with air to see exactly where my hole is. i can see where the deflection plate was welded on underneath has broken and that may be where the leak is. i hope so as a welder can get to that one. thanks again all for your help.

russ,
this thing is apparently extremely heavy. my friend and i tried to get it out today but it would not budge. tomorrow i will use a jack mounted over the unit. now tell me, does the coil only come out or does the coil and the outer housing come out together. mine has an outer housing around the coil and then there is insulation and then the outer housing. when i try to move the coil it seems like it is connected to the housing around it. hey man, thanks for you input.

i talked to steve flynn who now handles what we used to get from steve rowlett and he appears to be a pretty good guy. i also noticed that sunbrite has a citrus cleaner available. does anyone have any feedback on this product?
thanks,

the nipples are out and the coil is ready to remove. russ, what do you mean by removing the burner head alone. there is a plate welded in the middle of the coil on top...is this it?
thanks,

??? 1% bleach and 1% SHC are not the same thing.1% bleach is .0006% SHC and 1% SHC is .01. One is roughly 16 times stronger than the other.
let me clarify i hope,
if i were to put my injector hose into 12.5% straight and downsteamed at 10:1 then i would be applying the shc at 1.25% strength. if i put 2.5 gallons of 12.5% and 2.5 gallons of water in a bucket and then downstreamed at 10:1 then my shc% would be at .625%. this is how i determine that my housewash only uses around 1% shc or so. i mentioned bleach since most homeowners have never heard of sodium hypochlorite. and yes, i realize that 1% bleach and 1% shc are not the same thing but thanks for the heads up.

how would you compare it to simple cherry? better or worse or do you feel like sticking your neck out?

unfortunately the leak is somewhere in the middle of the coil. i removed the top lid and confirmed that already. john orr, it would be nice if you would warranty this item since i bought it from you...just kidding john, i'm happy with the deal you gave me. thanks for the input russ but after talking to the hydrotek service tech it appears that i just need to remove the nipples on each end of the coil and lift it straight up. it's going to be a little heavy and i'm definitely going to need a little help on this one. do you make house calls john?

well, i actually tell my customers the straight out truth and you probably are too but don't realize it. i tell them that my house wash only contains approximately 1% shc, or bleach, and is essential in removing mold and mildew. you also can tell them about the other goodies that you add (example: simple cherry) and how it works with the bleach to remove the spots on walls, ceilings, and windows. if you sound excited and confident about your house wash then it will sell itself.
good luck,

i've heard so many positive things about citra-kleen i wanted to try it but i'm having trouble finding steve rowlett's website. any feedback on this product and the website will be appreciated.

at the end of last season i noticed that my hot water burner assembly now has a leak. i took off the lid and sure enough the coil has a hole in it somewhere. i was told that it can be welded if the hole is accessable. my problem is i cannot get the darn coil out. does anyone have any experience on this issure?
thanks,

in my case i'm happy to be a part timer. i work the day shift in maintenance for the local goodyear tire plant. believe it or not but i am an electrician by trade but never pursued getting my license to do residential wiring. i've always regretted not doing that. during the summer i have no problem finding someone on the night shift that will trade out with me so i can free up my days if need be. i need 6 more years to have my 30 years of service so i can retire with full benefits (medical). i'll then consider leaving goodyear and doing this on a regular basis. hopefully you guys will still be around to hold my hand if necessary. i'm like you ken, i have no desire to spray water when it is cold.

i finally got to use my free sample of restora from flood. i used it on faded shutters and it did indeed return the luste that the sun had taken away. i applied it late in the day (rookie mistake) and it stayed wet overnight. i had a little bit of product run behind the shutter and onto the vinyl siding. i used some of my spray graffiti remover to get most of it off but i was wondering if there is anything out there that anyone has used before with better success. the homeowner probably won't even notice but since i know it's there i want to do something about it.
let me know,

a word of advice to you or anyone else that has not already found this out...be aware of the pressure being used when cleaning out gutters. it is so easy to wash the dirt out and to the backside of the gutter (between fascia). you then have a steady drip of dirt until you finally rinse it out which can take some time. i'm one of those dummies that found out the hard way.

don't know if you're still around aaron but here's another question. this deck has no stain and i cannot tell if it has a sealant or not. so if you are using the rip it to just clean the deck then what mix ratio are you using? thanks for your help.

i'm doing my 2nd deck in a week which is rare for me as i usually only do about 2 a year. last week i used bob's f-18. this deck was not stained but i think it may have had some sealant in it. it had turned a grey color but the f-18 and f-8 brought it back to life. i bought some e z off from sunbrite in the past but have never put it to use. has anyone already compared these two products or just the e z off itself? if anyone is up late tonight please chirp in as tomorrow is "d" day. thanks gang.

another welcome aboard dave. you would be surprised oh how many of the newbies ask the same identical questions that you have. i know, i was one of those newbies myself and i did the same thing. there are a number of answers to your questions as most of us have our own personal preference on procedures and chemicals. you will find the search function an amazing tool on this forum and the best part about it is that it is "free". if you get stuck then feel free to call or email just about anyone of this forum and i guarantee you that they will be glad to help.
good luck,

to each his own on this subject and it has been a hot topic for quite a while. you'll definitely find alot on this one in the search functions. my advice, try them both yourself and make up your own decision. i personally like downstreaming so i don't have to carry that bucket of chemical with me. when you talk about the xjet are you talking about the xjet or the m5? if you have the xjet only then i feel like that's too much pressure to be washing a house, especially vinyl siding.
good luck,

sounds like a piece of cake to me. i've always used my regular house wash to remove spider webs along with hot water. i'm not exactly sure what you've got there but good luck.

it's easier to just replace it then try to keep troubleshooting it since it is an intermittent problem. bob sells them and i believe they are less or around $20. mine busted during the winter and was a piece of cake to replace. check the reed switch as mentioned, it can move around.
