I have a 5.6 gpm machine and a 300 gallon water tank and found I was never going in the hole more than 20 gallons. I took off my 300 gallon tank and now I use a 55 gallon drum on its side. Plumb the tank to my Pressure washer and the supply hose to the drums top with a float valve. Its is perfect for what I need and I now tow 2000 pounds less. The more gpm the better. I am new to this but that did not take long to figure out.

Mighty Max, I will have to check that one out. For now I decided to go with powerhouse. Compared gutter shock to powerhouse and the same concentration of key ingredients. Powerhouse also has great reviews. 5 gallons with shipping was about $75 so still 15 per gallon however, it appears it will be much stronger than the gutter zap I was using. The 5 gallons also needs to be diluted so it will go much further. I will let you all know what I think once I try it.

Question About Property Values
mas3372 replied to PressurePros's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Depending on location, 5 miles west of me the house would sell for 750k and 5 miles east of me it would sell for 250k. Price also dependent on condition of interior. -
Doing some research on chems I have found that many chems are vitrually the same. Many house washes have the same key ing. as others. In my quest for the most practical gutter cleaner I am now tossed between gutter shock and power house. Again, these two different cleaners ahve the same listing on the MSDS. I know the MSDS is a ball park but it is very usefull in comaring. Can anyone tell me the difference between gutter shock and power house other than price?

Doing some research on chems I have found that many chems are vitrually the same as far as key ingredients. In my quest for the most practical gutter cleaner between cost, application method, waste factor and so I narrowed it down to gutter shock and power house. Again, these two different cleaners have the same listing on the MSDS. I know the MSDS is a ball park but it is very usefull in comaring. The MSDS are identical. I am sure there are inert ingredients that differ, but it is stuff listed that gets the job done. Can anyone tell me the difference between gutter shock and power house other than price?

why does hot water always cause leaks
mas3372 replied to mas3372's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Thanks for the help, it all makes sense. I hate swivels and thats that. -
Mike, Thats the point I am at now. I think I will order the 10 gall kit, its only about $30 and see where that takes me. My next option would just what you say. Increase the price a bit go from there. I know the time I save can make me more money by doing more jobs. thanks

Nichole, Thanks for the response. How is all brite in regards to aluminum trim such as the raker boards and bump out windows.. They seem to get the same black streaks that the gutters do and clean the same way the gutters do. I am hoping to find an affordable product I can x-jet on to clean the gutters and other black streaked aluminum that is safe for the house. Then I can simply switch to my house wash and finish it up. Leave the ladder, brush and pole in the truck.
-
the only problem with x-jetting zap or shock straight out is i will easily go thru a gallon or more per house. I am thinking to try all-brite x-jetted in a fairly high concentrate scine that comes out to 2.30 per gallon vs. 12.oo per gallon.

can you reach 30 ft with a pump up. A lot of the houses I wash have a walk out badement with 30-35 foot high gutters.

Thanks for the help brent. I have been using a short bristly brush from lowes that only lasts a few houses before it is ruined. But today I found a auto brush with much longer bristles. I am hopeing this will cover more gutter faster and last longer. I mixed my gutter zap with 2 gallons h2o as told. I just think my method of getting it on the gutter is what is killing me. Hopefully the new brush will work. I am sick of spending an hour cleaning gutters and an hour doing the rest of the house. I also have a lot of aluminum trim in my area that the house wash dosn't seem to touch. what do you use for a house wash?
-
mike, how do apply the shock? x-jet, brush, sprayer. thanks

sunbrite of maryland, When you say spray it on with an extention pole, do you mean off the pressure washer or a long pole for a pump up spayer. I understand the time vs. saving money and we all know time is money. I am open to ideas. I just see it as a waste to x jet it on and blow all those chems away and risk getting it on windows and so forth. And downstreaming it would weaking it to much I believe. I am considering the all-brite since it is much cheaper so that I can x jet the gutters and the aluminum facia and aluminum trim and the proceed to wash the the hosue with my normal house wash. How do you feel about the all brite for gutters with an x jet?

O.K. talk to tracey at sunbrite, great guy, lots of help. He said my dwell was to long at 5 minutes and the dirt was redrying to the gutter, try to do 2 minutes or so. I also went to walmart to get some motor oil and saw a degreaser in a purple bottle for $5 that contain soduim hydroxide. So I said what the heck and bought a bottle. I then played the dangerous back yard chemist which I should not do mixed about 3 ounces of the degreaser into about 12 oz of gutter zap. I then noticed a problem with the solution sticking to my brush so I added about 1 oz of palmolive to help create some slight suds. All in all, the solution stuck to my brush much better which meant I got more solution on the gutters and not the lawn and the best part is it worked great. I would do about 15 feet at a time. I only had to make sure the solution touched the gutters at every dirty spot and then rinsed off. The gutters were black and are now sparkling white. I am not sure if it was the added degreaser or the reduction in dwell, but nonetheless, it worked great. Wish I took pics.

I have found my house wash soap and am happy with it. I have just ordered oxalic for wood and concrete brightening. I currently use gutter zap for cleaning gutters as well as prodigy from espec. I have yet to decide on what two chems for concrete as well as trailer homes. I plan on trying hot water of course on concrete with my house wash to see how that works, I also have a sample pack of power stroke to try and then brighten with the oxalic. What other chems do you all like for concrete. MY last choice to make is trailer homes and aluminum siding houses. I realize that the trailer homes are like big gutters with the black streaks. So I am thinking that perhaps ripper from e spec may be the way to go, it is cost effetive and butyl base or all brite from sunbrite supply since this is also butyle base and should work nicely. Any thoughts here. The prodigy is also butyl and does a fair job on gutters with a little scrubbing, but I don;t want to scrub a whole house. Please help. thanks.

Which Sealer(s) are you using this year?
mas3372 replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
How about DoFoe, I have it used it on my decks in the past and thought it was great. That was before I started doing this for money. It is about $25 per gallon, 4 shades available and readily available at local paint shops. Thanks, Mike -
Hey, I am coming up on the 20 hours break in for my pump. I have a general 5.6 gpm, 3500 psi. I am curious on what oil to use. The manual says to use 30w non detergent. I got that. But is it needed to buy the more expensive general brand or is the cheaper stuff at napa O.K. Is 30W all the same. Also, Just curious. I am away from my owners manual for a day or two because of my full time job. On average, how much do the pumps take, ie, 2 quartes, more? Thanks, Mike

Some others that I have been reading about. Ripper from e spec seems to be a non-favorite, but how about gutter buster

I tried to downstream but spent so much time putting chem on and not to mention it drives me crazy waiting for them chem to travel 200 feet then when you stop drawing you need to wait for the clear water. I love the M5 X jet and don't mind carrying a bucket. I use a 5 gallon bucket with a snap on lid. Put a hole in the middle of the lid and put a zip tie around the hose before the lid inside and on the outside so the hose dosn't slide at all. just enough hose in the bucket to reach bottome and I just carry the bucket and put it in front of me and it takes just a minute or so to drench a building side in chem. Brush the gutters while I wait. Then rinse from below the gutters down and then rinse one more time starting with the gutters and down. If you like downstreaming thats great. But what I look at is I have not seen one person say they were not happy with a x-jet. if only they were cheaper.
-
The way I look at is this. they say 30W non detergent, that is all i would Use. I question brand preference only because I suspected that perhaps manufactureres of pumps such as general may haver certain additives for just pumps. I would be hesitant to venture to a 40w or a detergent. Oil is cheap enough since they use such small amounts and so readily availabe at a local auto parts store that I think it would be foolish to use anything other than what is reccommended. Just my opinion.

Havn't decided what I am going to try yet. I am considering the gutter shock with tighter bristly brush to keep more chem on the brush and not victim to gravity. Can't find formula 88 anywhere. Also considerign all brite as my house cleaner if I can confirm that it cleans the gutters as good as if I brushed them.
-
Hey, I know this post is 3 years old but if offers some great info on gutters. After researching the mentioned cleaners for gutters, it seams as if all-brite is the most cost effective and therefore being the most practical to x-jetj. My question is does anyone x-jet all brite for gutters and if so, how well does it work. thanks
-
thanks for the help. I will check out pepboys for the pole. I carry a 20 ext. that I try to avoid at all cost. I am hoping a better sponge will do a better job. thanks

Thanks for the help. I think I will try to locate some 88 locally to give that a shot until I can get some gutter shock from steve R. Tropical, You say you use a fluffy brush, what exactly do you use. I am using a small quicky brush from Home Depot and am thinking that perhaps that is not getting enough chem on the gutters or the aluminum facia and most of it is dripping off on the way up. I wish I could spray it on but when you have a house with a walk out basement and gutters a full 3 stories high, a pump up spayer just does not have that reach.
