  1. Looking for a 100 gallon or so tank. A little less or more is fine. Anyone have one for sale or know of a good place to get one. Thanks. Mike
  2. looking for a tank

Thanks for the help. I need to call my local tractor supply tomorrow. I think I will better off to downsize to a 100 gallon or so and better position stuff on the trailer. Move the PW over the axle with the smaller tank and use the tounge section for everything else. Thanks again. Mike
  3. pump oil

Thanks for the help. so for the most part, 30w nd is the same if it says general or cat or napa. It will be just as good? Thanks.
  4. I did my first practice job today for an uncle in preperation for my scheduled jobs next week. He has a large colonial, painted yellow, mildew, mold, and black gutters. The scary thing is, he cleaned it last year. I got started by cleaning is asphalt driveway and cement steps with some hot water, tuff stuff soap and a 15 degree nozzle, did a great job. Even got mold and rust off his steps. Then on to the house. I mixed 12% hypochlorate 2 parts with 2 parts tuff stuff. Sprayed it on with a down stream injector. Let is sit about 10 minutes and watched the mildew and mold turn brown and come to the surface. I was smiling. Threw on a 40 degree tip on my telescoping wand and started to rinse. This is when I decided I hate power washing. Nothing happened. The mold and mildew just lauged at me. Accomplished nothing. I washed his cars and my truck and packed up for the day. Thinking I need to rethink detergents. My emulsifier should be here on monday and I am hoping this helps. For the fun of it, I took some 12% and put it in the pump sprayer and hit a few spots of the mold and then the house shined. Do I hate power washing? No, I love the challenge. I think it is apparent that I need to better proportion the chems and as I guessed, this is will be the hardes part of the job to get down. Now that I have vented, does anyone have any advise. I think it is safe to assume that my mixture sparyed on at 20:1 is not enough. Any help would be great. Thanks.
  5. trailer home chem

Good Points on the trialer homes. In my area, as you said, there are the ones that own them because thats all they can afford. But there are also a few parks that are really clean and well kept. they have governing assocation laws that require them to clean wash their trailers 1 per year. Mostly retired people with all nice cars in the driveway. I am thinking about asking the manager of the park if I could put up a flyer at the mailboxes. Something to the effect of I will only be here one weekend, only the first that call can get theirs cleaned for $100 single, $125 double. Figured it may worth a shot. do 10 per day with no travel between jobs and walk away with some cash. But before I do that, I need to figure what is good to clean them in case I get the jobs.
  6. ding dong squirt

Did three houses today and on the last one I made an oops. Learned a lesson though. I was rinsing around the front door and the pressure rang the door bell with out me realizing it. So I continue to rinse when the home owner answers the door and yup, squirt, on her face and chest. Thank god she has a sense of humor. just wanted to share.
  7. ding dong squirt

Thank goodness she was a good sport. Thought it was a good story worth sharing.
  8. your .02 please

the m5 and spend 20 bucks for a 8 foot lance to make up for the height distance when needed. the m5 allows a find fan spray to rinse down plants as well which is a big time saver. the original from what i heard gets an extra few feet but I put it on a 8 foot wand and I can reach 35 feet, wind dependent.
  9. I did a res. house last week and the customer was very happy. He had a beautiful stone chimney on the outside of the house that he spent some bigbucks for to add to the curb appeal. On it however is a huge white stain that covers about 1/4 of the chimney covering many of the stones and some mortor. He said it has been their since the chimney was one year old and has not improved or worsened. I would love to be able to make his day and call up and say "I found out how to get rid of that stain for you". He believes it is a calcium stain or something like that. I have no idea. Any thoughts as to what it might be and how to get rid of it. As always, thanks. Mike
  10. Oxalic Acid

thanks again Jeff, are there surfaces that oxalic is unsafe on?
  11. Oxalic Acid

So I have read that oxalic is great to brighten concrete and wood. Does it have any other uses. Vinyl, asphalt, pvc fencing, etc. Thanks
  12. I set up my unit, 5.6 gpm with a 300 gallon tank. I know most houses only put out about 4 gpm so I know I needed a back up tank. However, I have yet to go down more than 30 gallons. I plan on doing jobs where there is a water supply so I am know second guessing myself for such a large tank. I think I could have been fine with a 50 gallon or more likely a 100 gallon. Meaning I could be lugging around 1600 less pounds and have more room on my trailer. What size does everyone use if you don't mind. I am really considering to downsize to a 100 gallon but feel I should get some advise before being impulsive. Thanks, Mike
  13. what size water tank

Thanks for the input. Most houses put out about 6 -7 gpm but then add 100 feet of hose, filter, and water softner that all gets reduced. Between friction loss of the house and elevation differences, this could vary from street to street. I am considering dropping down to a smaller tank to also give me more room. But who knows. I think I will give it a few months to see what obstacles I encounter before deciding to restructure my set up.
  14. Deck in a Day

Good for you. I recently dontated a residential house wash up to $250 for a golf tournament raffle prize that is raising money for MDA. I am be advocate for MDA. It will be nice to do that work.
  15. Oxalic Acid

Jeff, Thanks a lot for the help. If the wife allows then I will be down. I would prefer Oct. but I will need to see if I still busy washing then. The wife and I agreed that if I manage to make enough money pw this summer to pay off the equipment (12k) then I can go down. I think I should be able to do it since I have $1000 worth of work planned this week alone for a day and a half. Thanks again, Mike
  16. Oxalic Acid

Jeff, Thanks for the. I will try to locate some oxalic acid today. Other than brightening cement and wood, does if have any other good uses. Coventry is about 10 miles south of Prov. It is a great city. I know it like the back of my hand. I have had my share of fun in the city as well. I noticed you are in myrtle beach, I was planning my golf trip for May this year, but with a new born I am thinking November. Can you tell me what the weather is like then. Thanks, Mike
  17. Oxalic Acid

Jeff, Thanks for the help. I have located a few chem. dealers in my hometown I will try tomorrow to see if it is somthing they can get or have. If not, I will try JBS. What ration do you mix it at. 1 pound per gallon or so. also, can you mix it in advance and let it sit in a drum or should it be mixed as needed. Thanks, Mike
  18. Hello, Started off this am with a Deck job, 250 square feet, 3 years old, never cleaned. Used renew from espec and it looked awsome. Then went to a freinds house with cedar shake shingles. 3 of the 4 sides came out perfect. The front which ges lots of sun was covered in this black stuff. He thinks it is sap from the pine trees in his yard. The renew or restore - i forget the name, didn't touch it. A little 12% put on with the x jet barely made a dent. Any help here please. Thanks
  19. Company Name Opinions

All Washed UP, Very creative. A plus to it starting with A is that will also be one of the first in the phone book. Good luck.
  20. I hate power washing

I don't hate pressure washing anymore now that I found a little friend called the m5 x jet. Did a two story colonial today with some heavy green mold up high on the dormers. Used 12% with emulsifier plus and xjeted it on with no proportioner, dwell time about 10 minutes and rinsed it off. The house came out great and the homeowner was extremely pleased and impressed. The total job with scrubbing the gutters took about 2 1/2 hours. If I take away the chit chat time and made better use of my time I could have done it in 1 1/2 hours. I should have scrubbed the gutters while the soap dwelled and so on. Overall though. No extension pole or ladders and one clean house. M% X-Jet for mayor of pressure wash town.
  21. I hate power washing

Don, Ammonia, never thought of that. never heard of it either. Does it have the same effect on mold and mildew that bleach does.
  22. Stucco

I got my first call today regarding a large building that houses a resturuant, daycare, realty office and one other front. The building is mostly stucco and windows with some vinyl. I have e-plus which I have been using for vinyl and I am happy with the results. I have not however washed stucco. Is there any precuations to take other than a wood or vinly siding. Will e plus work well. The building is only a few years old and is in good shape. Some grease around the kitchen but not to bad. I have not looked at up front yet and will be tonight when I leave the fire station. Any advise would be great. thanks as always. Mike
  23. Stucco

    Yes I do
  24. Ins. Help

  25. Stucco
