  1. Daily Motivation

It's better to be a smart a$$ than a dumb a$$. One of my favorites and I am proud to say I am the author of it. Came to me during an arbitration I testified in in which I became frustrated and sarcastic, the arbitrator called me on it and that was my response. What memories.
  2. Why give THANKS

Jeff, Happy Thanksgiving. Your success, family values, hardworking nature and willingness to help others make you a remarkable person. Then add in the fact that you can sit back and be appreciative of what you have is paramount. You take nothing for granted and that speaks volumes. I am thankful for so much myself. Two beautiful and Heathly daugthers, a wonderful and tolerating wife. The best job in the world surrounded by men that would die for eachother at the drop of dime and so much more. I measure success not in dollars but in smiles. And my life fills me with more smiles than I could ever dream of and for this I am thankful. Happy thanksgiving Jeff and to everyone else here on the TGS.
  3. Have I Been Duped

Pressure Packed, this does not surprise me at all. Think about 4inch hose vs. 1 3/4 hose. the difference in friction loss is unbelievable. This is why we get more volume out of one 4 inch supply than out of 2 3 inch supply lines. Now account for 3/8 inch hose with 8 gpm of water being forced thru, thats a lot of volume to create more friction.
  4. Restora

I had asked them about that and they said the site wasn't updated yet. It was planned to be sold as a diy but had the change of plans. Hopefully we can confirm this at the round table saturday. I will not offer a product or service they can go buy at home depot.
  5. Restora

I was told by flood that they marketed to Home Depot and then took it off their shelves very quickley when they realized that it should be contractor applied product.
  6. Restora

I called and inquired and recieved a free sample of the low luster and semi gloss kits for shutters. An upsell I will be sure to be offering once I try the product. I am trying to find an old faded shutter that I can I use as an example board with both finishes and untreated for comparison. Flood also told me they will be the round table for more info. They are also compiling a list of interested contractors and will be doing regional training for those interested.
  7. Sodium Hypochlorite Prices

12 bucks for a 5 gallon pail. Steep but readily available and easy to handle in 5s
  8. Use of WD-40

clean stainless steel appliances. But pledge works better.
  9. Vote

Scott, Voter initiative can be very dangerous. 80% of people may want something, but only 20% may actually take the time to vote. RI almost passed this last session for state wide issues and it failed for that reason.
  10. Bartering services

I barter with guys at the fire station. A house wash and deck wash which takes a few hours for them and in return they work a 10 hour day or a 14 hour night shift. Great on both ends. They save 250 to 500 bucks on average and I get a whole shift off to make a lot more money on more houses, or vacation. This year I spent 15 hours on jobs for fellow workers and in return recieved 5 extra days off from the station.
  11. Vote

I'm thinking a lot of people these days could give two $hits if someone is a dem. or rep.. They simply want people that will do what is right. It is difficult to choose the far right wing or follow the dems, two complete opposites. This worked back in the day of black and white or red and blue, all the same. We live in an economy today of such complication that one extreme or the other just won't cut it. I am a dem. in regards to the fact I am a union fire fighter and democrats to me are job and benefit security. Replubicans on the other hand offer me other perks that the democrats can't and won't. Perhaps I am a republican democrat, call me an independent, hell, call me confused. Were at a point in this Country when the people have finally started to wake up and pay CLOSE attention. Ironic how gas prices where down the whole month and half before the election. It's come where the people of the US are realizing the effects of the current leadership and realize when we need change. In my home town alone with the highest taxes in the state, we tossed 3/5 of the incumbants for town council and elected first time office seekers of any kind, no experience, we just want change. We are willing to gamble with lack of experience in hope to catch a break. Where at a point where we sit back and say "what do we have to lose". The one thing that still dissapoints me is that only 47 percent of Rhode Islanders actually go out and voted this year. And this year was a HUGE for Rhode Island between ballot questions, a US senator, govener, lt.governor, AG (especially after the station night club fire) and several other key positions. 47 % dissapoints me, but on the other side, that is up 30% from the norm. I am done this rant. Thanks for listening.
  12. I love the dual lance with the m5 x jet nozzle to rinse. I use a shooter tip for hieghts to 40 feet that automically draw because of the low pressure and a 25 degree soap tip for everything it reaches. I use the m5 to pre rinse and rinse the soap off. I don't depend on the dual lance to draw soap, mostly just to tone down the pressure using the m5 when rinsing so I don't damage anything.
  13. Lab Puppies!!!!!

Gary, I will be sure to take very good care of him. Enjoy your cocoa, they are all great dogs. I can't wait, I have not been this excited about anything in so long. Yeah kids and marriage was exciting, but it's nothing like getting a puppy. Just ordered 2 books on labs and need to have them shipped to the fire station. This week I will need to go buy a crate and bolws, leashes, collars, bedding and who knows what else. At least I can hide it all at the fire station as well, want this to be a complete suprise.
  14. Lab Puppies!!!!!

that little yellow boy is going to make my 3 year old very happy. gonna call him Bawston, the way us new englanders pronounce Boston. Can't wait to get him!!!
  15. Lab Puppies!!!!!

Celeste, Put me down for the Male Runt Yellow Lab. I will be at the ACR round table and my kids are going to flip when I bring that little puppy home. Thanks, Mike
  16. Lab Puppies!!!!!

thanks celeste. I am thinking if I can make it to the round table I would just surprise the family. This is the roundtable in Easton PA, right? I am pretty sure this is the one your talking about. Thanks
  17. Lab Puppies!!!!!

Celeste, I am hoping to attend that round table, just need to secure babysitting. I will work on that today. Is the baby runt boy yellow healthy, any problems with nursing or other issues. I really want a male but have always been hesitant with the runt. Mike
  18. Lab Puppies!!!!!

Celeste, Is it possible to ship the puppy. I don't mean put it in a fedex box. Don't worry. There is company called petair that will ship it from airport to airport for about $150. The only problem is that you being the shipper would need to drop it off at the airport. If my wife o.k. with a puppy and you are willing to help out, I would pay you for your time and effort. Let me know. Thanks
  19. Lab Puppies!!!!!

Cleseste, If you only you where closer I would take a yellow female or the runt in a heart beat for my little girls. they would love them. NC is just a long ride for a puppy dog. This kills me.
  20. There is Superstitiousness....

I guess some of both John.
  21. Thoughts on a post card design...

Anthony, Great colors with glossy clear pictures jump out at me but just for a second. I find that I then need a good catchy slogan or text to keep me there and to read it. If it is wordy, I won't finish reading. Short and to the point is what works best. Skip wasteful words and extra adjectives.
  22. Thoughts on a post card design...

Thanks Todd. Think about it. If you get something in the mail that look like junk and is all words, you are not going to exhaust any energy reading it. Even a good bold title will have a hard time keeping your energy. A picture grabs your attentions and lets you imagine or think for a bit, then follow that will a powerful written message to get your point across and make it stick. This is how my mind works. I love getting junk mail now because I play a game with it. I flip through and see what gets my attention the most and the least and rank them and then figure out what sent the most powerful message. This 1 minute game a day has opened my eyes.
  23. Thoughts on a post card design...

To me, a picture tells me what I think says, text leaves little room for interpertation and therefore I must read what is there. While a picture is important to help draw the eye to piece, I believe the text is what gets the point across.
  24. There is Superstitiousness....

I am as bad it is comes some days. Friday the 13ths freek me out. I have routines for everything I do. ie, right sock, left sock, right shoe, left shoe. 4 leaf clovers rock, black cats are BAD. Don't do under ladders, Get out of bed the same side I get into. Don't step on cracks in the ground and on and on.
