  1. Finally go to experiemnt today. Did my friends one story ranch. did one half the house with reg. mix with wax added. Did the other half with no wax added, let the house dry for the most part and downstreamed a wax mix with 110 degree water.

Hands down, warm water application after the fact is far superior. Looks 10x better.

  2. Thanks for the input gary.

I think for sure that the wax in the mix must hamper the effect of the wax at least to some extent.

I am thinking about offering my customers two options.

    1. Wax additive wash - can add some luster to home and can help keep the house cleaner longer.

    2. Hot Wax Rinse post wash - adds a nice luster to home's vinyl, keeps the home cleaner for a considerable amount of time long.

I will have to experiment on my home to see the true differences I guess.

    Any other thoughts or experiences.

  3. I have been searching like crazy for best methods to add wax. It seems diveres that some downstream with chems and some do a separate application. Some like hot water, some like cold.

If you offer wax, please select your application method and feel free to offer what waxes you use or have used and any preferences.

    Thanks.

  4. Thanks again for the tips. I wil check it out tomorrow and let you all know what the culprit was. It sucks when you are about to do a garage floor and the HO wants to watch you work because they are impressed with your setup and then a criticle piece of equipment dosn't work.

How often you change the tips? I am assuming they are just zero degree tips correct?

And where would I put the filter, right off the gun before the hose or should I have one back right off my machine?

  5. Hello,

I have a 24 inch steel eagle. I used it last week to do crackerbarrel. Worked fine, washed it off after, top and bottom and put it back. Took it out one week later, hooked it up and the water would barely come out the nozzles. It worked fine and then not at all. I checked for bends or damage from moving it and found nothing. Greased the fitting and still nothing. The arm spins, but no water. Any thoughts?

  6. Did my first couple house washes of the season yesterday and had horrible luck with the gutters. I did two houses across the street from each other. I did several houses in this plat last year and had great results with the gutters. All the houses were built in the same 2 year time period with the same gutters, I confirmed with the builder, so different quality gutters is not an option.

I tried gutter shock, purple power, power house and gutter granade. They all had little effect. 46 degrees out.

It has to be the cold temps taht does it.

  7. I actually bought it from sunbrite Don. I checked Steve's site and did not see it but found it at sunbrite so figured it was the one everyone was talking about.

If you add it in your regular mix, does it have as good of an effect than if you were to put in on after to minmize how much comes off.

How is it on windows. Does it leave them filmy?

  8. While latin decent persons do have high work ethics and work hard all day. the one problem I would fear are customers or potential customers stereotyping you as hiring illegal workers and so forth. Rigth, wrong or indifferent, I would keep it in mind.

When Hiring, go with your gut and people instincts. Dont' be afraid to say goodbye if someone isn't working out. 89 calls in one day, I would not be agraid to say bye bye, there are 88 more people to give a shot until you find what your looking for. good luck.

  9. Well I do agree that upselliing is everything, I must disagree with upselling gutter scrubs. Scrubing the gutters is including in all my hosue prices. I did one job in which the gutters were extra, the howner said no and the house looked like crap with the dirty gutters. They are now included in everything and I charge accordingly.

Foundations, wax, steps, decks, porches, gutter cleanouts etc are all upsells. And I do well with getting them.

My pickle now is what to charge for offering wax. The wet wax is affordable at $92 per 5 gallons which goes a long ways. I am thinking of charging 25% of whatever the vinyl wash was for the wax upsell, or 2.5 cents per foot square - both the same in my case. My hope and question is,will this be a fair price to charge for the upsell and will I make a consistant profit with what I make now. I figure to wash and rinse a house will take so long and the wax rinse afterwards will only take about 15% of that time. by charging 25% I am covering cost of the was and makeing a the same hourly income I need to achieve to stay afloat.

    Any thoughts, Thansk.
