  1. Ghost car

A$$, Gas or Grass... nobody rides for free.
  2. New Header for my Website...

Minor Typo: "Equipment owed or rented" Equipment owed or leased shows a commitment to... This sentence appears on the link for h/o things to consider when selecting contractors. Thought youd like to know. Great site and lots of good info.
  3. Bartering services

I belong to a barter exchange. this essentially works like this: An exchange member contacts me and wants their car bumper painted or their car detailed whatever, we agree on price lets say $175.00, the work gets done, then I am credited $ 175.00 trade dollars in my account. Which I in turn can spend with any other exchange member. Some of the latest trade offers include resorts in the Dominican Republic, Golf at Destin FL. Massage Therapists, The Fox Theatre Tickets, Ocoee River White Water rafting, Limousine services and the list goes on and on. The reason a barter trade group makes sense is because you save hard cash for things that you need (or want) when you can pay with trade dollars which you can accumulate at will. I use my trade dollars to pay off my accountant when he has to clean up my Quickbooks messes and get me ready for tax season.

  5. Oh deer!

That's pretty good response from the gecko. I was stationed in Portsmouth back in my Navy days. Spent a lot of time in VA Beach, also riding down to Cape Hatteras and Nags Head NC. up and down HWY17, seldom ran into any critters. Good thing your wife was not hurt.
  6. Calling Shade Tree Vets!

Suggestion for pups ID paint toenails with red/pink/purple nail polish. Works with twins, triplets and so on so forth. good luck
  7. Alto Simpson unit

Today I found a 4 gpm 4000 psi Alto Simpson PW unit with 16hp Briggs engine, belt driven cat pump, electric start. Used unit from a tool rental company, also on the deal I can get a 20" cyclone surface cleaner. Asking price is $1400.00 for both. Is this a good deal or should I pass. For the looks of it it appears to be a very solid machine, oil and filter looked clean, fired up on the first push. Any comments or suggestions? Tomorrow we are going to plug everything up and check it out.
  8. Alto Simpson unit

Dang, that sounds so much like a used car ad, solid build, good rubber, no rust? I've been working to much around car dealers lately. HAR HAR HAR
  9. Alto Simpson unit

Hi Ron, Its a cold H20, portable, solid built, good rubber, no rust, probably a decent maintenance record. I was supposed to try it out today but got hung up with vehicle emissions testing and tag renewals so tomorrow I get to play with my new toy. (That's what my lovely wife would say since its my birthday). Thanks for the word.
  10. New Competition

Umh lesee hea. PWNA stands for Power Washers Of North America, right? Its all a matter of perception to the customer. The consumer has been brainwashed (High pressure wash) LOL to believe the bigger, faster, more powerful product/service/tool the better outcome for the job. But for those of us who know better and get better every day thanks to forums like this, we are in a position to add value to our service by educating our customer and differentiate ourselves from the competition regardless of whatever name they chose.
  11. Trained Killer

Great kid, great pictures too. My oldest son started boxing again this year, he trained at 11 and 12, he's 14 now and quite the gym rat.
  12. Well here it goes: As I was finishing paintwork on a customer's vehicle at their home, the owner mentioned she needed her house PW'd. I took the opportunity and let her know that I was available to do that kind of work and that her house (very small old construction 1000 sq ft) would cost cash $150.00 with additional $50 - $60 cost for driveway and concrete deck in the back. She wants to check the price of another guy that will do it on barter $$$. (She was my barter customer for work on her car which by the way she was delighted with.) My only concern is that this is really old contruction post WWII single story ranch with a brick front, painted cinder block foundation and what I believe could be asbestos planks on the sides. These are long like hardy plank but much much wider almost twice as much. Also the windows are in pretty bad shape dried up wood frames with peeling paint (Lead risk???) Any suggestions, comments and concerns are welcome. PS. Adrian, I may have to borry your SC. LOL
  13. First residential PW job bid today

AJ, I guess you meant a Property Management Co? Why or what was such a PITA.
  14. First residential PW job bid today

John, thanks for sharing that tip. I will tell the HO it be best to do her house on a day she's home.
  15. Almost walked away

So how much was your bid?
  16. First residential PW job bid today

Thanks for the input guys. Its not a ghetto job but a gentrified neighbourhood, brand new HO doing improvements a little at a time. She just put in PT wood fence. Barter is Ok for the auto paint part of the business but I will not barter PW services. Ryan you are probably correct in your assumption that the HO just wants grime and green knocked out, I'm sure you know how bad some older areas in Atlanta are with all the pines, sweetgums, oaks and pecan trees.
  17. delco training school

Hey Jason, If I recall well, pressure in spanish is spelled "presion" with an "s", Just in case you're getting printed materials dont get a typo!!! Good Luck en La Isla del Encanto... Rick Arrese Mobile Appearance Reconditioning Svc. Austell, GA. 404-550-0219
  18. Big City vs. Small Town

Hey Lance, since when is OP a small town?, maybe when Cecil Field was still open. Last time I was in Jax the whole place was built nearly county to county heck you couldnt even tell where Green Cove Springs started and OP ended. I lived in Jax 83 thru 87 and OP was THE place to live If you couldn't afford golf course homesites out there near Ponte Vedra. I still like the place, Jax Beach, the Riverwalk the dog tracks. I live now in a "small town" outside Atlanta and I'm ready to move away... The family voted for Florida, near the water ( 3 of 5 are open water divers to boot). I think both large and small cities have pros and cons.
  19. IRS Scam???

You should have known its fishy when the url address is "service"@ irs.gov LOL Rick Arrese
  20. Gas prices

Gas update in Atlanta GA... El Cheapo regular at QuickTrip just hit $2.72. So I figured make every mile count... if you have only one job (house, driveway or whatever) on the board, as soon as its finished, go to the house, driveway or whatever next door and offer them the service, you're there anyway and you can do some show and sell. PS. FairTax anyone?
  21. Marketing your janitorial business

Best advice I can pass along is be ready to perform when you present your services. ie. take with you a stain remover or odor control product that you can whip out of your briefcase/bag of tricks without having to run back to the truck. Look out for gum stuck to the carpet, easy task to remove on the spot with the right product. Good Luck and remember "Presentation without demonstration is just conversation"
